Wait: so your argument is don’t punish Boeing no matter what they do because who will it help? Yes, sure. Why don’t we apply that logic to the criminal justice system? Why hold anyone accountable for anything?

Boeing will never become what it thought it was in the past because of three things: 1) Management thinks they know everything and treat their people as "employees" - they are ALL employees!, 2) Boeing hasn't implemented Employee Involvement whereby the workers know their processes, know their customers and suppliers and they continually improve those processes - managers are few, they set the course, they ensure proper training, they help with career guidance and break down barriers and 3) Boeing makes a paradigm shift in the way they deal with their many unions - they negotiate with one union and apply the benefits to ALL employees. This way nobody feels like they are slighted and the cost to implement can be proven to be much more than just what one union receives - enough with the legalized extortions (strikes) and start holding the union workers responsible for poor quality (no manager would instruct a worker to not install door panel bolts or to not tighten them, that wasn't management's fault).

Boeing needs to be able to fail. They haven't shown a willingness or ability to fix their quality concerns. No disrespect to anyone who might lose their job, but lives have been lost already.
What's the cost of protecting Boeing?

Boeing arguably makes more money from their defense division than they do from commercial aircraft. Boeing was a lot better before they merged with McDonnell-Douglas. They ideally need a clean sheet design for a 757 replacement as the A321 is eating their lunch, but I don't think they have the money to develop it right now.

“Politicians pressuring the company to stop killing people is not going to help anybody”
Maybe it will help the general public, but not anybody important?
