    My pericardial cyst was diagnosed thirty years ago incidentally by cxr. My last CT scan was 2008. It doesn't bother me and I rarely think about it. I walk. Two miles a day with no problem. I guess I'm blessed. Thanks for the video, the best I've seen.

    Greetings doctor! My fifteen-year-old son has a pericardial cyst measuring 8.6x5x6cm. we are offered VATS surgery and removal. so far there are no symptoms, but the cyst has doubled size in 2 years. do you think this procedure is suitable for a child? thanks in advance!

      Great question. I personally do not operate on children. I would suspect that this surgery is very suitable for children, but I will defer to a Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon. Please get a second opinion from a Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon. Good Luck.

      Thank you very much! Pediatric surgeon suggested VATS.

    The dr at a hsp I went to felt my chest and said there’s a cyst in my lower chest right , and I get sharp pains near my heart right where she was touching and I have been having the triad symptoms. So I’m going to bring this up to my dr ? Because for one I been complaining about not being able to breathe & they keep telling me it’s just my anxiety .

      Hi, I appreciate your comments. I hope that your doctors have ordered the proper tests to confirm that you have the cysts. It sounds like your symptoms are serious. Please consult your doctor and request a cardiac surgeon consult. Good Luck!

    I have cysts in the media stinal area (spelling?). I'll have to look up the records on it to get it exactly right. The sonogram specialist said she had been doing her line of work for 33 years at the time and had never seen one before mine . I have had them for a while. The thoracic surgeon said I had a plurality of them. I also have bradycardia as well as neurocaridogenic syncope. I tend to talk a lot. I found out this year that the vibrations of my talking help to soothe the vagus nerve. I am 56 and male. I would love to get more help with understanding these. I don't know how they all affect each other, but my quality of life isn't what I would prefer. Thoughts? P.S. I used your Contact form at your website too. Thank you!

    What happens if you get the cyst removed and it comes back in about a year or so?

    • @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445
      @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445  2 месяца назад

      Thank you for the question. If the cyst comes back after its' removed, you should consider following up with your surgeon and medical doctor. There needs to be an extensive workup to determine if another surgery is needed versus just observation. Take care.

      Hi, sorry for the delay in responding. First, patients do very well with treatment of pericardial cysts. If your cyst is 10cm then it can be treated percutaneously with a needle guided drainage or with surgery. The operation is not complex. Second, I would strongly recommend that you have your primary care doctor refer you to a cardiac surgeon. If you need a referral, send me an email through my website. Good Luck!

    I have a 3cm cyst on the lower left side of my heart. The cardiologist said it’s too big and I would need open heart surgery to get it removed but I have seen other people have bigger cyst but don’t need the open heart surgery. Do you think open heart surgery is really necessary for the size I have?

    • @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445
      @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445  Год назад +3

      Hi, Sorry for the delay in responding. I want to first confirm that you have a pericardial cyst. A 3cm pericardial cyst doesn't need surgery unless there is some major compression by the cyst. A pericardial cyst of that size can usually be monitored and not operated on. I would get a second opinion from a cardiac surgeon.

      Hello, i am a 30 years old healthy male and i have just been diagnosed with a 3cm cyst in my lower right of heart also. I was told just to monitor it and if any pain, to take basic pain pills to alieve it. I would see a cardiologist just to monitor it as i was told.

    hi doc! I also have two pericardial cyst, one is 5 cm and the other is 3 cm.. my primary doctor consulted a cardiologist and the cardio told my primary doctor that if it does not bother me.just a monitoring after 6 months! Is the VATS procedure safe? Coz i am afraid of surgery

    • @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445
      @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445  Год назад +1

      Sorry for the delay in responding. I personally think that monitoring the pericardial cysts is fine if you have no symptoms. The VATS procedure is a minimally invasive procedure and is very safe as long as its done by a surgeon who does the procedure often. Good Luck.

    I had a 10 cm😮 ! Had no clue! I didn't even have any real pain when it was all happening.. I almost did not take myself to the hospital ..but thank God I actually decided to jump in my car and take myself to the hospital because I felt like a weird rubber band feeling around my heart... Sure enough as I approached the emergency room my oxygen was getting lower. They did an EKG and the next thing I know I was drugged up walking out of a surgery throwing up peace signs I have no clue but my niece got me on video😂😂😮 oh but it gets better. I got reinfection again a week later they had to do a second surgery because supposedly it got filled with bacterial liquid so that sure enough was not fun 😞 and here I am back from outer space😅 smh

    Thank you for making this video. V helpful as it’s a rare condition. I have symptomatic pericardial cyst which is 6x8x2cm between heart and diaphragm. I get shortness of breath, fullness in the chest and palpitations. I also have Pectus Ecavatum. My surgeon thinks if the cyst is drained it will just come back. I’m considering the surgical resection but worried it will be a big/ gruelling operation. I have no other medical issues. I’ve not met anyone else with this condition. I live in the UK. Good luck everyone with your treatment.

    • @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445
      @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445  Год назад +2

      Thank you for sharing your experience. I respectfully disagree with your doctor. The surgery for resection of a pericardial cysts can be minimally invasive and therefore is not considered a long complex operation. Secondly, with surguical resection the rate of recurrence is very low. In contrast, if you only drained the effusion the risk of recurrence is HIGH. I would strongly recommend see a cardiac surgeon as a second opinion.

    Dear Dr,
    I have something called bronchogenic cyst, and doctors were trying to remove it by VAT surgery and failed. and again they said "open surgency will need to be done and its risky". I am with this now from long time, my age 43, doctors guess this is from the time I born.
    kindly advise. I can share with you reports and documents.
    Thanks much

    I have a 6 cm pericardial cyst on right atrium. I’m convinced it’s the reason I get chest pain, shortness of breath, constantly. But lately in the past month I’m getting Pulsatile tinnitus in both ears cramping in my left calf as well as spikes in BP and racing heart rate to 150 bmp. Still waiting for MRI ( live in Canada) long wait! It’s very scary sometimes I feel it might be the death of me. These things are horrible when symptomatic. Starting to feel like it’s causing vascular issues. 😞

      Hi, I apologize for the delay in responding. I think you need to see a heart surgeon to evaluate your cyst. The chest pain and SOB could be caused by the cyst. Good luck.

    My daughter has chest and rib pain with her cyst. It was just discovered. My son has a shunted subarachnoid cyst and i have kidney cysts. What are the odds this is all a coincidence? Why are my adult kids so physically fragile. Did my celiac disease do this to them? Im scared and i feel responsible for their poor health.
