A long and loaded down packout and bad weather- Dall Sheep Hunt pt. 4 - TMP S5:E4

- When you think of sheep hunting, odds are it's of snow capped peaks, a lot of climbing, a lot of glassing, and a lot of adventure. And while it is all of those things, it's also very much the opposite. It is days stuck in the tent while waiting on the weather. It's moving from one drainage to the next. It is step upon step upon thousands of steps. Luckily, the scenery never disappoints.

Just in love with the scenery. I think this is less ugly truth and more the beautiful truths of sheep hunting.
Awesome content. Took me till now to subscribe, but have been watching and looking for your content for a couple years now, especially the sheep hunts. I’m lucky to be a resident up here so I get to hunt sheep more often, this hunt really captures it well. Can’t wait till August 1. Well done guys.
Thanks for subscribing. We're jealous. Nothing beats a sheep hunt.
You guys are doing a great job telling the story....amazing scenery footage also! I know it's a grind and your legs probably feel like they weigh a thousand pounds but hang in there. Never get tired of watching a Super Cub on Tundra Tires....bad ass little bird! Best of luck boys.
Thanks James!
Good stuff...had to have been Chase's snoring at the end that topped it off. Hell, I would have ran the bears off after those hikes!
Pidge yes it was chase 👊🏻 thanks again!
Even though I love the cinematic way it is put together and the amazing scenery I have to say my favorite part is watching you guys struggle with the backpacks. Anyone who has packed meat out knows the struggle and I cant help but smile knowing how it feels In those moments!!
AMPED ARCHER ya days we had to move camp and all our gear on top of adding meat to the mix was a good leg day. But ya that packs made us look pretty funny trying to get into them! Haha thanks for watching
@@TheMountainProject it's a struggle alot have experienced and it always seems a little better memory knowing others struggle too!
Another great show, the series is probably the best I have ever watched on a sheep hunt. Bringing back a lot of memories, catching so much of what actually goes on while your out there..😁👍👍
Thanks Johnny! Glad we are doing a sheep video some justice!
I’d still prefer that over the daily grind in the concrete jungle anyday! Love the work that you guys put in to bring the viewers these experiences!
Agreed! Thanks for watching!
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
I just enjoy the heck out of this.
I know I'm not the only person who looks forward to Monday/Wednesday/Friday
presentations.
Thank you guys !
What kind of boots did you guys use ?
Thanks Martin! We both wore La Sportiva Trango Cubes
Thanks for taking us along, this is so well done! Such amazing places, you capture them perfectly.
Peter Roberts thank you
Amazing videos guys. Can really see all the work you put into filming this hunt. Appreciate you sharing that experience with us. So beautiful!
Thank you Mike!
I loved the slow motion cub landing with real time audio! Also the snoring session at the end ;) lol
Lol, thanks Aaron!
Another great film you guys are on a roll with season 5. It's like an addiction waiting for the next one to come out
Thanks Darrin!
I love seeing every minute of this adventure, but LOVE the out-tro 😴
there was a lot of that going on, long days... thanks for watching
Great video! I just can't get over how spectacular that country is.
its amazing, and to think when it is all green instead of white how maxing it looks also.
This hunt brings back great memories of Northern BC! The super cub video is just Stunning! Thanks for taking us along on this adventure!
Thanks for watching!!
Living vicariously through your films... great work!
Thanks!
What an adventure! That river has to be a wild sight in the spring/summer melt off.
I bet it gets wild!
One day I'll get to say been there, done that! In the meantime I'll just keep on watching this series
Yes you will, Marshall! Thanks for being here
Talk about an amazing adventure! Just so much to see. The views are awesome.
Thanks Nathan! There's still a ton of footage that isn't in the videos!
Absolutely stunning views. Beautiful country thanks to you guys sharing this with us.
Thanks John
Have to take the good with the bad and hope the former out weighs the latter. Another awesome video.
Thanks Phil! Although there's really no bad in that country! Unless a bear eats you, that's bad...
@@TheMountainProject Very true!
Thanks guys...my head is in a great place for the day now. Lol, the shoelace and that sunset shot was gorgeous.
Thank you! We thought the shoelace would give the idea of how cold it was
Good sh!t, Maynard. The grind of wilderness hunting is clearly demonstrated. Just good filmmaking all around. Hoping for another payoff!
Oscar Ramirez thank you! Stay tuned
Another great video guys..beautiful country!! Sure makes me miss the sheep mountains. Looking forward to Wednesday.
Thanks for watching! Sheep mountains are an easy place to miss!
Some more great editing --- kudos, Jay! Looking forward to the last days of the hunt ...
Thank you Tom. Owen's hunt is coming next week!
Keep doing what you guys are doing. This is the best RUclips hunting content I have seen. I really feel a part of the adventure.
Thanks Richard!
Enjoy these hunts for me. I will never be able to go on one myself. Thanks for taking me on your journey.
Thanks for being here. We appreciate you
My Hat off to you guys 5 star again maybe one day I can meet the crew I already meet loco pancho villa ....you guys are bless for what u guys do !

The Mountain Project ya he something else man ..you guys are bad ass one day I will try to hunt like you guys ...!!!
So addicted to this. Keep sending them out. Cant wait for my hunt in northern B.C this year
May I ask who are you hunting with in northern BC. ?And are you hunting.
?
@@petevandyke2435 I'm from BC. I'm a resident hunter. Every year a few of us make a trip up north near the yukon boarder. Sheep moose and caribou. This year we are going strickly for a ram.
Thanks Chee Chee!
Amazing video!! Always makes me want to go hunting more watching your videos

Great adventure with some awesome scenery.
Thanks Greg
Love your guys’ videos, keep it up! Best hunting series out there in my opinion.
thank you! help spread the word
Beautiful journey keep it coming. Right on🤙
Thanks Rick!
Awesome video as always guys!
Thanks TJ!
How do you keep a positive mind set when the weather knocks you down? Great videos as always.
It's hard not to be positive in that country!
Best video so far. Editing was on point.
Thanks Daniel
Love you guy's videos. Even when they don't have a stalk or a kill shot in them, still high quality videography! Love seeing the experience before I get there myself some day.
Thanks Ben!
Great videos and amazing hunts keep up the good work guys
Thanks David!
That snow sure gives those peaks a load of character
Yes it does!
Keep them coming!
Thanks Bob
Quality gear makes for a great trip. I'm taking notes. Loves these videos guys.
For. Sure. Thanks Bryan
Peaceful, thanks!
Thank you Wayne
They don’t make the sheep hunting boot I usually use, so I’m looking around and wondering what you used on this hunt and your quick thoughts on them.
Thanks!
We used the La Sportiva Trango Cube GTX amzn.to/2HwYGSv and can say nothing but good things about them. You get the stiffness of a full steel shank boot, but they're incredibly lightweight and the waterproofing was excellent.
Thanks, I will check them out!
Keep it up guys
Thanks Pedro
Not sure what was ugly" about that video...looked like another day in paradise to me.
Haha, very true Austin!
What magnification binoculars are you chaps using out there? And did the binos get used much or were you guys only ever using spotting scopes?
chase carried 8 power and Kevin carried 10 power, we debated along time bout this and wished one of us would have carried 15s, when the snow fell it was extremely difficult to find the rams with the amount of country you can glass. we used the scope a lot and binos, we glassed a lot!
Great hunt and season. Wondering what the temps were like for you guys? How did you like the Kuiu bags and which bags you took? Thanks.
Thanks James! They were mid sixties to mid twenties and everywhere in between. Which kuiu bags are you referring to? The duffel bags at the airport or the small roll top bags for miscellaneous gear?
@@TheMountainProject I was curious about the sleeping bags, which rated bag you guys took and how you liked them. How was the moisture management etc. Sorry for the confusion.
Kevin was using the 15 degree and Chase was using the 30 degree Long with a Sea to Summit liner. Both performed really well with no issues. They were both very cautious to keep them dry. Always kept in a drybag when not sleeping in them.
What is the song in your intro ? I love it
Artist: RIVERS Song: Bad Men
Noob question from an AZ-only hunter: when you guys cross water, do the gaiters seal to keep your feet dry? I feel like they have to because of how miserable wet feet would be in those conditions...?
They shed the water for a short time. That's why we cross quickly. If the water was too wide or too deep we took the boots off.
@@TheMountainProject Thanks, guys...I've always wondered about that!
Hey, what kind of dehydrated meals do you have. I haven't seen those before. Can't get the video paused quite right to see.
They are Peak Refuel meals
I,m really enjoying watching your adventure do you have plans for a equipment overview what worked what did not
Thanks Dan! We will more than likely do a gear video from this trip
Great Great series ...what boots r u boys wearin
Awesome video, thumbs up on the music! Anyone draw an elk tag in AZ? I wanted to help on Jays elk hunt last year, but things change with our tags. Let me know, I’d love to help call and pack out! I’ve gotta do a sheep hunt! Been hooked for year, but medical bills have been kicking my a$$! Stupid cancer! I loved the snoring at the end!
We did draw a few elk tags this year! Both Jay and Brittany have the 10 tag again. You're always welcome to tag along. Cancer does suck. Keep kicking ass!
Another excellent show. Question, were you totally prepared for that weather and was there 1 piece of gear you wish you had packed but didn’t?
That's a tough question! We were pretty well prepared. We'll have to cover that in a gear video.
Can you guys PLEASE do a 2019 shed season video? I’m still laughing from the 2018 one. Great season so far, I’m loving following along.
Haha! We may just have to if we find time
Love this upload, you guys are too much 😂
Gerald Cordova thank you for watching !
we do enjoy that you guys are not afraid to use some selected cuss words, during your hunts. it is as real as it gets, and is just what it is. We catch Hell when we do it, but of course we dont care. The way i see it, it should be ok at PG-12. The age it takes to hunt out west. We subbed awhile back, be cool if you sub us and check out our hunts as well. we are on our 16th season, and already got a wolf down on video. Cant wait to rock the 2019 season.
Done. Thanks... and good luck this year.
Great show as always! What happened to your great intro?
Is it not there?
@@TheMountainProject not the last 2 times I watched! Your doing great job Jay!
what brand of food you guys using?
A little bit of everything. Several of the @peakrefuel
19k views and 2 & 1/2 years late … does anyone know the specs to Kevin’s rifle? Fell in love at first sight!

@@raider2503 welcome! Have a good one ! Stay tuned
What is the blue tarp connecting both tents. Brand please. We Are headed up on a DYI Caribou hunt and thats what i want. THANKS!
Steven a friend of ours custom built it to the dimensions we wanted for three guys to sit under or use at camp for a porch for bad weather so your not confined to a tent. Be more information on it soon in some gear videos. we can get you in touch with him as well if you want to get one.
Couesssss deerrrrr mexico sonora no videoosss or what
It’s going to be about a month. We’re still in August! Hang in there
I wanted my whole lunch watching this video and didn't see anything die. Thumbs down.
You might want to just watch other channels. We don’t kill in over half our episodes.
