@@sebastian4683 I've listened to the original countless times. It's hard for a cover to compete with a original. But as far as covers go doing it exactly the same as the original is kind of pointless. And doesnt necessarily mean it's going to be good. The point of a cover is to have another interpretation of the song. By your logic miley's performance is better, but I personally find it awful. In the end a music is only as good as someone who enjoys it.
I hardly think it's the worse version of fade into you. Give me a list of 10 covers of the song you think are miles better. "Worst version" really is an exaggeration if anything it is the best cover I've heard of the song, precisely because the others have that similar interpretation but if they are just similar it's not going to ever be better than mazzy's.

MILEY!!! There is a sadness in Mazzy Star's voice. Kelly is always incredible, but her voice speaks hope to me. There's this hopelessness in Mazzy's music, but it's this accepted hopelessness. Like when you're sitting in a dark place, but you know it's temporary...you're just taking in the feels. That's Mazzy to me. Miley captures that beautifully...it's not something you can teach or pretend-- you either can or can't.
You should check out Kelly Clarksons song Irvine. Kelly’s vocals on that reflect exactly what you’re talking about with Mazzy and Miley on this song, I bet you’d be surprised and love it

Miley's voice is incredibly strong. Just because she sings in a lower register doesn't make her any less powerful than the other females with higher pitched voices. Not to mention she has an outstanding taste in music. Just look at some of the covers she's done, and done quite well.

I was maybe 10 years when this song came out on the radio. It was one of those songs, and lindas voice, that influenced my taste in music for the rest of my life.
Something about this song draws people to it, no matter the age. My kids turn this song up everytime it comes up on the playlist and they are are now about the samw age i was when the song came out.
