I have no experience in the shop or anything, and I have no interest in doing these things myself, but watching you do it so much fun and entertaining! Absolutely love your videos!
Yea! I really liked the way that the murder bowl turned out! definatly one of my favourite projects to date. I think that the red colour (yes colour, im from the UK don't judge me 😂😂) from the rust would give a really nice contrast!
Next time just as a suggestion try putting a bevel at the join you will need to use a little more welding wire but you will also end up with a stronger weld a good portion of ending up with a good weld (even with experience) is how you prep the material and joint area
Peter you're the reason I want to be a wood worker(idk if that's what you call it) I've been watching your videos for a good while and you look like you have so much fun. Love everything you do ❤
Glad to see someone else with a side business in tripping hazards. My shop seems to be a shrine to them. Truly under appreciated as a vocabulary builder. 🤐
I'm happy to see someone I watch trying new things, I watch machining channels for their metal work but I've yet to see a channel i like watching the welder work nor an initiate trying a blind handi look forward to more welding more projects
First weld? If I honestly didn't know better, I would have sworn blind that you had done them before. They're bloody excellent, and you are right to be proud of them! As you said, practice makes perfect, but that shouldn't take anything away from those!
I am a fully qualified professional welder and they are some nice welds for someone that's never picked up a welder before mine were horrific when I first got my hands on a welder good job !
it always astonishes me how well you can do these amazing things (without burning anything down, lol)! i love how creative all of these projects are! :)
This is killer, you did a good job on those beads for your first time. Controlling a molten puddle is a lot harder then some might think, but you tackled it nicely sir!
Excellent job! I find it funny that by the end of the Vlog you answered my question as to why you didn't grind down your welds! 😃 Look forward to your next project.
This is one of those projects that I imagine would have a lot of pitfalls for a first time welder (I have zero experience), and it looks amazing. Glad you were able to work on a project you could really enjoy for years to come.
The wait was well worth it. Amazing project. Even though it was your first attempt at welding it was a very good well. Just a little practice and you'll be a pro
Kudos to you, my friend, for trying something new. It looks amazing. Better than I would do on my first try.... Or first five tries. Lol Nice project, great video Peter.
For a first time welder, your welds were very good! I was impressed with how quickly you figured it out. (I've been welding for 15+ years, not a professional by any means but welding is something i've spent a lot of time doing)
two quick suggestions cuz it's almost summer! they both have to do with watermelon actually. 1. redo that tiki project you did years ago with a watermelon cuz watermelon carving. 2. dry out the inside of a water melon and see if you can fill it with resin. than make something summery out of it!
just a little tip for welding, when you weld the 2 pieces together you should bevel the edges about 30 degrees or so and fill the entire gap with the weld. makes a much stronger weld
your welds look really good for a beginner!! one thing i will recommend is turning up your heat. it will penetrate more and give a stronger bond, also less grinding and it will look better ;)
love your work and your honesty. Had a old thought about something you said in a resin video about using a vacume chamber to get all the air bubbles out and how that most people don't have access to them so you don't use them. Could you try using something that vibrates to shake the bubbles up and out?
dragaunas Does not work very well because epoxy is mostly very thick. If the resin is filled with something the bubbles can also get trapped. You can buy cheap vacuum pumps for about $100.
I really enjoyed this video :) Would love it if you did more of these projects that use different materials and techniques - epoxy can get slightly repetitive if its used for every project!
**wonders** how many funny looks I'd get at the airport as I try to leave the country with a hammock & stand I flew in to "borrow" 😜😝 Looks so comfy! Will we a get a view of the new garden with hammock in situ?
This is where a good proper bandsaw makes all the difference in the world. Set it up and let it fall. Shuts itself off when it's done and if you don't prop up the piece being cut you get an auditory alarm. Also with the right wire you can have a little bit of scale and be just fine.
Great job for your first welding project! Two tips, if I may... turn up the heat just a bit more when you're working with steel that thick (3/16", right?) and for butt joints (where two pieces are butted together flat), grind the edges at a 45° angle opposite each other so that the weld has a bit of a valley to sit in.
Peter brown we need a diy rope hammock now! plus a new dip it like an icecream scoop with a handle with sprinkles and cones ! and maybe a cherry at the bottom?
Just a tip on your first weld it was good but you were going to fast that's why it looked like a bunch of v's it should look like crescent moons all stacked check out ChuckE2009's videos on how to mig weld
Mr. Brown, you should dip a fork in clear resin then shape it into the form of a spoon, then you can eat soup with a fork and blow people's minds!
Will Parry I don’t know you, but I love you 😍
You should make scissors out of some stone like granite, and use some micarta for the handle. Would it be rock, paper, or scissors?
HAHA! That's hilarious
do it!
This must happen.
I too think that's such a cool project idea!
If the scissors were made of obsidian, they could be VERY sharp.
I have no experience in the shop or anything, and I have no interest in doing these things myself, but watching you do it so much fun and entertaining! Absolutely love your videos!
Peter, could you try dipping some rust dust? Dunno what you could make out of it, maybe a door knob or something? But I think it would be interesting!
that's a great idea!
Yea! I really liked the way that the murder bowl turned out! definatly one of my favourite projects to date. I think that the red colour (yes colour, im from the UK don't judge me 😂😂) from the rust would give a really nice contrast!
I agree a rust dipped door knob would be great, and a red wood shaving set of door stoppers too!
rust dust.
Take it another step further and add aluminum powder to the rust dust. Thermite, DIP IT!
For the first time welding i think you did a wonderful job
Thank you very much. I've been watching a lot of ruclips.net/user/weldingtipsandtricks
Alyx Rigby I agree, I've been welding for 6 months and mine are just now looking that good
whole lot better than my first job
Next time just as a suggestion try putting a bevel at the join you will need to use a little more welding wire but you will also end up with a stronger weld a good portion of ending up with a good weld (even with experience) is how you prep the material and joint area
Alyx Rigby that's what I started doing about a month ago
Great job, Peter! Nice to see that you stepped out of your comfort zone and got into welding. Looking forward to your next video!
Thanks!
A bit more current and a tad less feed and you're a welding star
k Bosell It opens up so many new projects! Just like Arduino haha
Haven't gotten into arduino, yet. Maybe someday I'll get curious enough or have a project that requires it hah.
Peter you're the reason I want to be a wood worker(idk if that's what you call it) I've been watching your videos for a good while and you look like you have so much fun. Love everything you do ❤
I don't know why, but seeing Peter use a hand drill both surprised and startled me.
Glad to see someone else with a side business in tripping hazards. My shop seems to be a shrine to them. Truly under appreciated as a vocabulary builder. 🤐
my son is totally obsessed with your channel if we let him he would sit and watch them for hours you are awesome
You'd be lying to yourself if you called this anything but a success. You built a damn hammock stand thingy. That's awesome. Lol
I'm happy to see someone I watch trying new things, I watch machining channels for their metal work but I've yet to see a channel i like watching the welder work nor an initiate trying a blind handi look forward to more welding more projects
4:43 the way the sparks bounce off the inside of the beam looks amazing
Magnificent! I'm glad you were able to "steel" your resolve to tackle welding.
Ooooooh thats looks so comfortable, love the backyard, birds chirping too, that hammock looks amazing.
I like the expanded horizon of welding and metal work
Ive only known and watched your channel for about a month now, but I absolutely love it. Its so calming, thank you for posting
Great welds for your first time, and the finished product is nicer than my store bought hammock, 10/10
Peter you did an awesome job, your welds are sweet for your first attempt. Now just lay back and relax mate!
First weld? If I honestly didn't know better, I would have sworn blind that you had done them before. They're bloody excellent, and you are right to be proud of them! As you said, practice makes perfect, but that shouldn't take anything away from those!

beannn_2005 Practice makes perfect. Its really true. I only noticed that after my last exams at school.
A grinder and paint makes me the welder I ain't.
Pretty sweet looking welds to say it was your first time!
Thanks for the mind blowing audio during the cut
You should feel very proud of yourself! It is a stunning hammock and looks like it rocks very smoothly.
Awesome seeing this type of video after all the videos about smaller things!
DIP IT: HAMMOCK EDITION!
When you can't stand your hammock swinging in the breeze!
you were waiting for this comment werent you? so you could reply like that :D
AHAHAHAHA
This is killer, you did a good job on those beads for your first time. Controlling a molten puddle is a lot harder then some might think, but you tackled it nicely sir!
I've never tried welding, but after this, and listening to Crafted Podcast, I really want to learn! Great job as usual Peter!
It's really fun moving that puddle around. And it sounds like bacon frying...
Mmmmm... bacon 🥓 😁
Hubbard's Handmade A welder and a metal lathe are high up my priority list. I just need a bigger workshop. They take up so much space.
Just started watching your videos two days ago and you have me hooked! The things you create are awesome!
just finished my stand four hours before this video was uploaded, perfect timing!
Nice project Peter! Now it's time for a nap! You have earned it.
for someone who's typically a woodworker those are some damn good welds! Nice peter !
Nice to see you relaxing once in a while
Excellent job! I find it funny that by the end of the Vlog you answered my question as to why you didn't grind down your welds! 😃 Look forward to your next project.
Peter I think Ikea would hunt you down for your skills , great job , cool project, thanks for sharing👌
This was a wonderful project. And what a payout in the end hanging on a hammock feeling satisfied.
This is one of those projects that I imagine would have a lot of pitfalls for a first time welder (I have zero experience), and it looks amazing. Glad you were able to work on a project you could really enjoy for years to come.
Miss you, Mr. Brown.
You are not a crappy painter. you are a great painter
+Austin Vines You should watch the hot glue bowl before you say that! :)
I'm glad you have ventured into metalwork, I imagine future projects will benefit from these skills
Holy moly that looks incredibly comfy. Fantastic job
You got a lot of great shots on this video, I love them. Enjoy your hammock.
i get so excited to see a Peter Brown video in my feed. I love your content 👌🏾
The best part of RUclips is when Peter Brown uploads a video.
Love the build and the look of it! I think it would look awesome beside the beach 🌊
Cheers!
Yes I absouletly love your channel such great content always very entertaining, keep it up
Wow. Thank you Steven!
Beautiful, my yard is thirsty for a hammock like this!
Nice welding, nice project and nice socks. I thought they were pink for a moment.
Peter, I wanted to say I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work!
+badwolf1173 _ thank you!
Nice looking project there Peter, and some great welding too, not that I know "diddly squat" about welding! ;)
Take care
Mike
Great job, Peter. Way to push your skills.
Hey Peter love your videos keep em coming I will keep watching
Great video for a new medium. Thanks for the content Peter!
good job peter. love your dedication to honesty in your videos. if you ever want some lessons on welding id be more than happy to help you.
MORE WELDING VIDEOS!! Your a great fabricator/welder keep it up
this looks so nice completed. It also looks way comfy. Nice work.
I am very impressed with you Peter!
Thank you sir!
Well done, Peter!
For a first time welder, your welds were very good! I was impressed with how quickly you figured it out. (I've been welding for 15+ years, not a professional by any means but welding is something i've spent a lot of time doing)
Ohh, I'd love to see you do a 'dip it' with fairy lights! 😊
Dude! That weld is beautiful!
two quick suggestions cuz it's almost summer! they both have to do with watermelon actually.
1. redo that tiki project you did years ago with a watermelon cuz watermelon carving.
2. dry out the inside of a water melon and see if you can fill it with resin. than make something summery out of it!
love seeing you try your hand at steel. 😀
just a little tip for welding, when you weld the 2 pieces together you should bevel the edges about 30 degrees or so and fill the entire gap with the weld. makes a much stronger weld
your welds look really good for a beginner!! one thing i will recommend is turning up your heat. it will penetrate more and give a stronger bond, also less grinding and it will look better ;)
Would be good if the sharp edges of the steel were bend into a radius, so it does not dig into the wood.
Very Cool Peter! and I think your welds look awesome esp for someone just starting... !
wow those welds was gorgeus
I started welding recently too and I have the same welder as you. I think it's an awesome welder
Good job on the welding and the stand it looks great always enjoy your videos.
Excellent work Peter! I like that you're always trying new things, keep it up!!
This was a fantastic build. Honestly I think this is my new favorite video on your channel
Not a bad weld there towards the end, keep practicing peter!
Cool seeing you do a bigger project. Looks great! I think you need to turn some finials for the ends of the top posts :)
Sweet job Peter, I also want to weld... it's on the list. I think it turned out great
The welds look great for starting out! Try setting your welder at a slightly higher amperage and your results will probably look professional.
love your work and your honesty. Had a old thought about something you said in a resin video about using a vacume chamber to get all the air bubbles out and how that most people don't have access to them so you don't use them. dragaunas Does not work very well because epoxy is mostly very thick. If the resin is filled with something the bubbles can also get trapped. You can buy cheap vacuum pumps for about $100.
your weld beads are very good Peter
I really enjoyed this video :) Would love it if you did more of these projects that use different materials and techniques - epoxy can get slightly repetitive if its used for every project!
That turned out very good!
nice job on the weld, makes me want to relearn welding (i learned stick welding in a class about 4 years ago and haven't touched it since)
Nice job Peter
Nice job Peter ..I think many hours will spent in that nice new hammock .....Might be a while before we see another video ...
brilliant build
**wonders** how many funny looks I'd get at the airport as I try to leave the country with a hammock & stand I flew in to "borrow" 😜😝
Looks so comfy! Will we a get a view of the new garden with hammock in situ?

Wait, so you've only got a metal chop saw and a wood stand up bandsaw. Weird selection. Good work, but just an odd tool selection.
Man you made some awesome welds!
Awesome hammock stand.
Awesome job. This is definitely making me want to learn to weld so I can start making a lot of my own tools for my studio.
Beautiful work
Peter brown we need a diy rope hammock now! plus a new dip it like an icecream scoop with a handle with sprinkles and cones ! and maybe a cherry at the bottom?
Greetings from North Carolina Peter!
I love hammocks, I need one of these
Just a tip on your first weld it was good but you were going to fast that's why it looked like a bunch of v's it should look like crescent moons all stacked check out ChuckE2009's videos on how to mig weld
Few things are better than an afternoon nap on a hammock
Can't wait to watch this through! Looks great from the thumbnail :)
