    In rehearsal we've sung the Tierce de Picardi just as a joke on occasion. Fun part is that half would do it and half wouldn't, so whenever we all did the same thing, it would just crack us up.

    We've done all these versions and right now are using the old french one -- The variations are fascinating :)

      I'll do my best. Pray tell, I frequently view the word "Farandole" in the various performances of "Patapan" is that a carol? Was does it mean. please?

      Thanks Hudson!. We are at 904 and are so close to the 1000. Patapan is in old French and the word farandole translates to medley. Thanks again!

      Fine singers make fine educators. I'm grateful you took the time to explain. Keep singing. Augustine of Hippo said that to sing is to pray twice.

    Willie, bring your little drum;
    Robin, bring your fife and come;
    And be merry while you play,
    Tu-re-lu-re-lu,
    Pat-a-pan-a-pan,
    Come be merry while you play,
    Let us make our Christmas gay!
    When the men of olden days
    To the King of Kings gave praise,
    On the fife and drum did play,
    Tu-re-lu-re-lu,
    Pat-a-pan-a-pan,
    On the fife and drum did play,
    So their hearts were glad and gay!
    God and man today become
    More in tune than fife and drum,
    So be merry while you play,
    Tu-re-lu-re-lu,
    Pat-a-pan-a-pan,
    So be merry while you play,
    Sing and dance this Christmas day!

    Au son de ces instruments
    Tu-re-lu-re-lu, pat-a-pat-a-pan
    Au son de ces instruments
    Je dirai Noël, gaiement.

    What a wonderful song! Do you know where could we find this exact arrangement?

    • @StairwellCarollersOfficial

      It's in the public domain I think since this is the traditional arrangement. Just search the title - you should be able to download it from CPDL www1.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

    Guillaume, prends ton tambourin,
    Toi, prends ta flûte, Robin;
    Au son de ces instruments,
    Turelurelu, patapatapan,
    Au son de ces instruments,
    Je dirai Noël gaîment.
    C'était la mode d'autrefois,
    De louer le Roi des rois,
    Au son de ces instruments,
    Turelurelu, patapatapan,
    Au son de ces instruments,
    Il nous en faut faire autant.
    Ce jour le diable est vaincu
    Rendons-en grâce à Jésus.
    Au son de ces instruments,
    Turelurelu, patapatapan,
    Au son de ces instruments,
    Faisons la nique à Satan.
    L'homme et Dieu sont plus d'accord,
    Que la flûte et le tambour;
    Au son de ces instruments,
    Turelurelu, patapatapan,
    Au son de ces instruments,
    Chantons, dansons, sautons en!
