The most intense lightening storm I’ve ever witnessed was in Scottsdale Arizona, Aug 2004. I sat in the upstairs bedroom with the sliders open, first on the little balcony until bolts struck the street right in front of me! I had to move back into the room for safety. It went on for an hours all over the local vicinity. Thrilling!
If you listen closely, you can hear some static just before the strike. I guess that was the streamer where the bolt connected to. I've heard this sound once before and within a fraction of a second, lightning struck a lamppole 10 feet from the house with the same sound to it. Cool vid.
@@semprocarnage 11 years later, for whoever happens to read this, here we go (did not know much about it either). When it comes to the difference between positive and negative lightning, the Internet (not me) says: "When a negative charge is transferred from a cloud to the ground, it's known as negative lightning, and it makes up about 90 to 95 percent of all the lightning you ever see. By contrast, positive lightning happens because of that positive charge that builds up at the top of the cloud." About the positive lightening, the same Internet says: "positive flashes are believed to be responsible for a large percentage of forest fires and power line damage. Thus, positive lightning is much more lethal and causes greater damage than negative lightning." I, for one, I could not tell the difference by listening to the sound, but for now on I will pay attention.
If you listen closely, you can hear the “ssszzztt” sound right when the loud one hits at 50sec. That’s the actual static noise (on a much larger scale), from when we get shocks , most probably know that but hearing that “zzzszt” part was the first time I’ve heard it
TREVOR PHILLIPS: 0:45 What? It's just an ordinary storm. 0:50 Really-*BANG* F**K! WHAT THE F**K!?! MICHAEL DE SANTA: 0:55 How did it got so loud? 0:59 No no no-1:00 S**T! FRANKLIN CLINTON: Oh s**t!
0:50 Inspecting closely, there was a even closer strike first. Beautiful shot, even for a 13 year old video that suddenly popped up in my recommends. But I'll take it.
First one was veery close negative with ground discharge (its the ,,clap'' right berore thunder) - that means you were very close to the strike.. And the second one was positive bolt.. its visible due the one bright flash from it and the sonic boom just confirmed it 😃 Very rare moment on camera, nice video!
This was taken Thursday, September 22, MCMXCIV somewhere around the Great Plains or Midwest United States. Technology then was nowhere near as good compared with today’s and modern technology. Today you can monitor strong and severe thunderstorms as they approach your area where you live.
This October there was a storm in Massachusetts then lightning struck my house!!!!! It was real loud! It was like as loud as me shouting at the top of my lungs! Except instead of hearing a loud shouting sound it was a loud bang like a very loud clap
Today we had a big storm and we had a large cluster of Abt 10 really loud thunder crashes that made people think we was being bombed it was so loud here in Ohio
0:50 *When you close the door gently at 3:00 AM*

that was rain.
Very unique. the first monster sounded like a negative strike, the second had more characteristics of a positive strike with the explosion like boom.
I have a doubt can you clear that
