Chinese, with a MS degree from US university. Yes prestigious Chinese university cost 1000 - 500 USD a year. Yes Chinese students still come to US universities for grad schools. Mostly because it's easier to get a high paying job in US, not simply because US universities are a lot better, though they are generally better. Chinese companies used to prefer hiring students graduated from US UK schools. But not anymore. Many Chinese schools are catching up. Especially in computer science area. If you want to be in academia you still required to get an overseas degree, because it is important to have overseas connection, either broaden your view (research / life or whatever), and also give your more connection in research.

Besides on the subject of using NVIDIA chips by China it seems, alongside everything else pointed out by these two journalists, that China can come up with something on par or make an even better alternative than the West all things equal..
CNBC is struggling to cope
Deep Seek equals to MALA:
Make America Lose Again 😂😂😂
Sour grapes 😂Well, you don’t have to believe until one day you find you are way too behind 😂😂😂😂
1 more day and it is Chinese New Year, China is sending gift to America😂
BYD is a quarter of the cost of Tesla, China was on top for a while; Americans deserve BYD cars too; let them in.
They're 💩.
What a joke, the actual paper is out there, so instead of burying head in sand, why not strategize
You guys are so predictable. Anything Chinese is wrong! Really?
Count on the Americans to find the most science-averse Asian and send her to China as a reporter. AND then ask her to report on the most advanced tech story.
Great, my stock going take a hit today. Thanks lot China
On the other side they may have saved you from being scammed further by the overvalued stock price.
The sad fact for US is this was developed by Ms Wu's 6th grade class while their US counterparts were studying DEI
😅
"But at what cost?"
Worst reporter on the planet knows nothing, too lazy to investigate and gave templated answers. What a waste of everyone's 5 mins!
I love Chinese ❤
State controlled capitalism (1), Non-state controlled capitalism (0) Let's go to the video tape!
Capitalism is Capitalism. It only helps the rich
Is CNBC a real news organization?
like any American media, it's propa - ganda
Huh? Psyop? It’s open source, one can literally use these code to recreate the result.
It’s the fact they’re claiming it’s cheap , thereby destroying the ai economics. Strong possibility they’re lying like mofos
Now Trump will say Deepseek is risk for National security and he sign a BAN on this.... his friends will try to buy this...😂😂
Tiktok model...
If you have checked any llm leaderboad and how many Chinese models are topping, you would know it is not a dark horse.
Just remember, at any point you can put your phone down lmao😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hohoho what a funny joke…USA $500 billion AI competing against CHINA $6 millions AI …hmmm not bad at all…this only shows how good brilliant young Chinese engineers, mathematicians & scientists are today in China!😮😮😮
No one questions what Deepseek can do. All I question is the mentioned cost. Give us all information on what tech did they really used! Rumor has it that they used H100 and not the H800 as they said
If the US government is so worried about China, than break off all trade.
I love the smirk look on Eunice as usual
😂😂😂😂 … see the face of US channel who always think that they are suppior and always underestimate the technology of China … but forget China is the one who will destroy the hegemony of US technology
The big thing here is the cost to the a.i delevepment ,they claim they can develop them for around 5 million dollars while current companies are spending in the millions to billions. Love for the news to explain what kind of analytics that they are using and how they are supposely using math to get this super low cost and less energy draining models. If it can be verified it would be a great achievement by this company.
you did not invite Gordon Chang? or he is too busy
I heard the Oligarchy is start to trembling
Some may have visited the restroom as many times as humanly possible. You can bet on that. They are bleeding serious stock values
Mmm... China is technically also an oligarchy.
The United States Government needs to start caring about us. We are sinking. And i do not think we can turn the tide?
The US government has failed the people miserably with the lack of proper healthcare for all, and removal and downgrading of public education
Cramer look like his brain was about to explode lol
I have shifted to Deepseek. What about you?? Let me know😮😮
As far as "did they have GPUs they shouldn't have?" goes, people have looked at the design and it makes sense.
Some people have already started integrating DeepSeek's ideas, and within days there has been improvement on some US source models.
The main thing about it being opensource is that everyone including Americans can use it to create further advancements.
*WE HAVE TO SEE THIS AS A GIFT TO THE WORKING PEOPLE OF AM3RIC4....!!!* China has prevented the accumulation of TRILLIONS of $$$ in the hands of 6 people
Useless News, who will use CHINA AI ? JP MORGAN OR school of USA? anyway it’s good time to buy TSMC ADR.
This relative news are a huge plan to test American EQ?
why do all of these people still have their job at CNBC? how many years does it take to prove they don't know what the hell they are talking about?
just listen: yellow is more superior😊😊😊
They are not yellow people.
so...white trash?....
My email is free, social media is free, youtube is free. it was always a shady deal to pay for a chat bot. ah, well I got duped.
AI biggest problem is you can look up something with minimal effort. There's no money in it
This ladybug still in china making bias against china
People here aren’t really commenting on this video. It says “Chinese State Media hails…”.
Look you can build a LLM for any amount, money value is what you give it. They said it cost 6 million, great a $90,000 Nvidia chip made deep seeks project happen. They still had to use our chips. The ultimate goal is to bring down cost of a new technology anyways. Microsoft is still around despite the cost of a P.C. becoming much more affordable since the first home computer. Don't let it shake you buy more!
American arrogance knows no bounds. Some of them are still in denial about this story when it's what's supposed to happen with a free internet
Do not count US AI out just yet. What Deepseek gave America is a good competition.Expect most American AI's go open source.
AI IS A CON.
Is it ? 😮
Opinion Deepseek vs. Google AI
1. Google has a large data base which provides more relevant and accurate results.
2. Google provides less irrelevant results, saving time.
3. Google could add the same features as their competitors, when they make your experience better. Could be Googles is more focused on your interests, with less distractions.
The infrastructure Billions of dollars being spent is for a safe place for several great data facts libraries and processing centers. DeepSeek will not have access to the libraries.
So it looks like in 20 years they will have T-1000 terminators and we will just have the lowly T-800 models. 😩
As Machine learning engineer, DeepSeek gives a well structured article but not good answer if you ask following questions . DeepSeek isn’t as good as ChatGPT not even close. Those extra parameters are for following questions and hidden aspect of the questioned Topic.
Deepseek is looking like more intelligent and hardworking than chatgpt
What's more to come out in the year of the Wooden Snake.? Competition is good and necessary. Humanity wins.
Open source AI that could be downloaded by anyone and run in their own computers offline! Most companies surely would want to get their hands on open source AI that would NOT share any corporate secrets to OpenAI because it could be run offline ?
Why are the Americans so interested in who's winning, who's ahead?
I am having a field day! DeepSeek will burst the largest AI bubble on Wall Street.
Facts don't care about your feelings, Cramer
Question: "Why should be trust this" answer: "we are going to have to wait and see" THAT IS NOT A REAL ANSWER. Did they literally just say trust this guy and his 2 friends who met the Premier once and then wait and see????!!!!!
It's actually a good thing that the AI bubble has burst earlier than expected.
If a Chinese company had spent tens of billions on AI, wouldn't the US not knew about it earlier?
No, China is a closed society. There is no freedom of information act, freedom of the press or anything released internationally that reflects bad on the ruling party.
Good for the People, no more monopoly 🎉
It's not just about model. It's about building a laege inference machine.
A great Chinese said it well: "Blockade it! Blockade it! Blockade it for ten or eight years, and we will have everything!!!"
in USA, those tech workers are busy with jumping from one job to another for double salary pay AND/OR get someone else fired/layoff for their own job security. It's hard to have a research devotion to a profession under these greedy mental state. What is coming is massive layoffs for tech workers.
