I've rode the super meteor and it is a super fantastic bike. Not the fastest but that's not it's purpose. The engine is good got good character and just feels good. Sooooooo comfy that bike. With an exhaust that motor sounds amazing too. I highly recommend it. The z650 is quicker and obviously being upright bike is gonna handle better, but not as comfy and not the same engine character and feel of that super meteor.
My friend, you should do yourself a great service and test ride the xsr700 or xsr900. Best retros out imo. They are all great tho at the end of the day.
Dude Yes, I have yet to ride any yamaha motorcycles!! They seem to not be many available in my area sadly, and Yamaha never hosts any events near me. I absolutely want to try both though.
@logangodofcandy yeah, true, but technically the z650rs isn't retro underneath neither. I'm ok with modern features (cruise control) but love the look of the retros.
I got a video riding it and it sounds great, love the motor but the throttle was tiring and I couldn't get it smoothed out, very high effort. I havent posted it because I was pretty negative about the throttle and just very disappointed. I wouldn't buy one unless they sort that out. I'm sure there are tunes avaliable to make it better though but it shouldn't be sold with the throttle like that, it's not a race bike, even though it's fast, it's a bike I would want to cruise on and it's hard to cruise smoothly on.
@ yeah I was gonna say maybe the solution would be buying a stock used one with low miles and doing ecu reflash to fix that. I noticed on my brothers zx10r the throttle is shit compared to a R6 I rode. Kawa needs to seriously fix that.
I've yet to ride the xsr700 but I'd say the motor is better in that bike. The 650rs motor is good but lacks character, if that matters to you. I like a little bark or thump from my motors. The z650rs is an excellent handling bike for sure tho.
Oh wow, seriously? It is overpriced maybe a tad bit in the states but people weren't having it and now they can be bought for couple grand cheaper than original msrp.
I'm considering it. I want something new though for 2025. I like the moto guzzi v7 sport (i owend a 21 v7 850 and got rid of it for not having cruise control, fantastic machine though), speed twin 900/1200 (minus the dash), and the bear 650 (no cruise control and underpowered). Whatever I get will become a scrambler bike though most likely. Also like the ducati scrambler the gen2 with quickshifter (no cruise control). I'm compromising something no matter what I choose though sadly.
I’m caught between this and the Super Meteor 650. This Z650RS is very nice looking, but that Super Meteor 650 is gorgeous! Going for my first bike!

Bike looks like it wants to tell me he's Johnny 5 and that he's alive!
That don't make much sense to me, but to each their own, ha ha
Bought a new 1978 KZ650C2 Custom. Damn, I miss that machine.

I'm not sure how the xsr is retro at all. I think they just call it that, like calling a bike a scrambler

All the talk about how bad the throttle is on the 900rs makes me want to get a Honda hornet and keep my z650rs.

@@bikerbeliever8169 thanks for that. I'm coming from a 636 Ninja, so I'm looking to mellow out lol.
@@C-P_ELG no problem
Nice bike.. ridiculously over priced here in Japan due to extreme popularity..

Scrambler 1200xc is the best..just get one

NO!!!
It's a good bike, but not a good retro. It's not got enough character that I like.
