If you're trying to follow this tutorial in 2024 or after, @7:30 the constant's "Output" tab will not have a switch labeled "Comp with Input," instead you need to select "Composite and Set Resolution" in its "Combine with Input" dropdown. The dropdown appears in exactly the same place as the old "Comp with Input" switch. Also, at @11:34, the level TOP no longer has a switch for "Clamp Input to [0-1]," it has been replaced with a "Clamp Input" dropdown. The default setting of "automatic," may not work correctly for this project, so you should select "Clamp [0-1]" in that dropdown on the "Pre" tab.
Great intro to generative art and feedback loops in TD. Other image filter components in the pallet I’d highly recommend playing with are twirl, bloom and radial blur. They each have a really interesting effect in feedback loops.
I remember seeing a tutorial by Jack about moving the background during feedback as in 12:56 but warping it to look seamless. I can't recall the video and it's driving me crazy.
You'll likely get there much sooner than you think! Keep chipping away, building fun creations, learning new techniques, and you'll find your progress will continue to accelerate!
Great question! It turns out that the level TOP’s default behaviour has been changed in the newer versions of TouchDesigner. To make this effect work, head to the first page of parameters for the level and change Clamp Input from Automatic to Clamp [0-1]. That should do it! In older versions of TouchDesigner, this setting was set to clamp by default, but that was changed in version 2022.24200.
Great video thanks! For some reason the sharpen image filter is causing a vertical scrolling effect along with the pattern generation. I've had a look inside the sharpen and had a play around editing the data table but can't seem to get it to stop. Has anyone else had a similar issue with Sharpen?

Thanks for putting this together!
Lovely to see this!
It does show White instead of Black for me, while I've set the color to black, or any other color..

Awesome tips, I can imagine twirl and radial blur becoming increasingly crazy inside of a feedback loop!

It sounds familiar, but we can't remember what video it's from either! We'll be sure to let you know if it comes to mind

Hi! Great video! I'm having trouble seeing the circle come back over the feedback when I add the level. No matter what I do it won't appear.

Great effect. Do you have any idea how to get rid of that cross effect for blur preshrink below 2 ?
