As soon as I found out I was going to key west, your video was #1 on my list!! Hope you can help. Leader? Wire or flourocarbon? Jig size and color? I will be fishing early while the wife is sleeping. Any info you can give would be great!! Love your videos!!!
The cudas liked green pencil poppers burned across the surface at top speed. There are lots of smaller cudas along the mangroves that will hit small plugs. You definitely need a short wire leader ahead of the plug for the cudas.
Thank you Do you think that a 10 pound spiderwire line will be able to land a normal fish or is to risky to try with that line. In all the years fishing from a edge of the Hudson River I never catch a big fish Now I'm reading your book and I bought 2 blue frog bucktails Thank you
I'm gonna be fishing that lure in the keys as well, but the only difference is the place Im gonna be kayak fishing is a flat with almost no mangroves or anything around. Will cudas still be in that area you think? Or do they need mangroves in order to live in that area?
Great video
Very nice John! Thanks for posting!
The new Penn SSV 4500. Performed beautifully. Great drag, no wind knots...
Plenty of flats wading, but many times a boat is used to get to the good flats. There are sharks and rays to watch out for.
It's a Wildernes Systems Tarpon 14', rented from Big Pine Kayak Adventures.
I like Ocean Kayak Tridents

Nicely done.

I averaged about 5 per trip wading or in the yak.

Much faster fish with better jumps. Bluefish fight harder at the end.

Nice vid. Ever eat barracuda? It's supposed to be good.
best fish I ever had but it is dangerous.... they can be poisonous and full of a poisin called ciguatera....
how many did you catch on your trip like is it easy to find them cuz im going on friday and wanna get into some
I like how you waited until the second cast to hook into that fish, proving to us that you are a regular human being and don't catch fish every cast.
20# Spiderwire Stealth
I squeeze it in around a full-time job.
