My understanding of NIL was that businesses would offer NIL deals to players for a promotion of a product or service. I don’t think schools should be involved.
NIL is exactly as you described, however the NCAA passed a new thing separate from NIL where every athlete (not just football) is to be included in a revenue sharing program. Athletics departments have to divvy up a certain percentage of their revenue amongst every school athlete as they see fit, so obviously the top football players will get the most. Since it's done by fixed percent of revenue, Tennessee is just trying to increase the revenue total in order for the prescribed percent to be a much higher dollar amount. This is probably going to happen at every school once the new rule fully kicks into effect. Their figuring is that fans know what it's for and would be willing to pay more to add to the kitty so that TN can continue to afford to attract star players. So yeah NIL still goes on like it has separately from this.
If they are so confident then why make it a mandatory 10%? Why not make it an optional “tip”? It’s dumb. This is just an excuse to raise prices instead of giving an outlet to support your team. Like maybe a family can afford (and wants) to add 10% to one ticket but they can’t afford to add 10% for 5 tickets to see the game. I’m not a Tennessee fan but I’d be furious to be forced to pay a 10% “fee” for no reason. That’s like them adding a fireworks fee to pay for the touchdown celebration.

It's always been about the money. Do you really believe Bama and UGA got players for nothing? LOL Back than it was a car or a few grand. Now, it's NIL deals and it's not free..
So what to we get for all these changes. 1, better football. 2. A more evening out of more teams as far as talent. A monopoly no longer exists between the top 10 media darling teams. Lower teams can get better and beat better teams. Better skilled players as well.
@@gwhite7136wrong because not every university has that as much money as others to pay players. The only way to level the playing field is to install a salary cap like the NFL.
It’s always been about money nothing has changed 😂 players just have more freedom before the transfer portal players literally had to transfer to a smaller school or a juco. Teams get into conferences by having to pay a lump sum of money to join a conference back in the day and now so that hasn’t changed. Also players have been being paid under the table for decades now that it’s public it’s killing college football? That doesn’t make sense
This is getting rid of the collectives and bringing it all back in house to the university. The boosters are getting tired of paying for stadium upgrades AND paying millions to fund NIL.
All these schools should negotiate better contracts with the media companies. They can afford it way more than your average fan. Tell the media the same excuse they are giving us...
You’re missing the part that every school is going to have to do something similar! Once the House Vs NCAA case is finalized, the law says schools can pay $22M to student athletes. If your school wants to remain relevant, they now need to come up with $22M+. This is how Tennessee is going to do it. Props to them for being upfront and transparent.
They don't deserve any props, they are duping they're fan base to begin with and passing the cost to its fans defeating the purpose of nil( which was because the schools were making way too much money.) if they allow them to do this it's the go ahead for the rest of the country to do so. There has to be pushback or unless brain-dead fans are okay with it. Who knows.
@@Tevon93The TV deals were supposed to be the main way revenue sharing was paid for. This isn’t directly helping players as they receive the same amount as they would without the price increase. Don’t complain, you wanted players to be paid! The best thing that Danny White did was to get in front of a shortfall and be honest with fan base, terrific move on his part and I appreciate that. He did not hide behind a ticket price increase without an explanation. Now using common sense, the NIL program when launched should have had CAPS on income placed within the guidelines. This would allow for a more even playing surface across all schools. It would have elevated the issue you have know and kept NIL in prospective. I was a donor from 1986 through 2017 and abruptly stoped. Saw this coming and decided to become a normal fan. I don't remember what the prices were but they were not cheap.
Yo Matt you should have watched the actual interview from Danny White there is an actual addition tipping feature to this 😂
Damned Pretzel Pirates! MattBeDiddler
Mattbeshannonsharpe is diabolical 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Who do you think was going to foot the bill? The middle man yea!!!
college football started to die with the death of the BCS....then the transfer portal going nutts....SEC allowing new teams in throwing away almost a 100 years of history......then NIL became the new thing......this is college footballs free agency death...soon it will be all about the money, and not about the fans, the history, and the game.......we are watching the death of what MADE college football great
I agree 💯 my friend! Ruining 🏈 with rules & $$!! It’s still an amateur sport, wished it would go back like it was before but will never be again!!! The love of $ is the root of all evil
You the goat Matt!
#1 in baseball, top 10 in basketball, top 10 in football. Name a better athletic program right now
Perfect upload time I just loaded up a dab
A $7 water is 100 times more criminal than a $13 pretzel
I feel like nobody give Johnny Manziel credit for getting Reggie Bush his Heisman trophy back
im loving the NIL its bring down the house of the NFL, LETS FCKING GO BABY THE NFL IS ON ITS LAST LEG
MattBeHot
Well not gonna pay to see Tennessee in person.
When Bama ticket prices go up 20% next year, it won’t be because of inflation. It will be for NIL.
Who knows.
Tennessee made a net profit of over $70 million dollars just from their football program last year. They already have the money
@@Tevon93The TV deals were supposed to be the main way revenue sharing was paid for. This isn’t directly helping players as they receive the same amount as they would without the price increase. This is just helping the university keep their profit margins. This seems to be greed more than anything.
It was hard giving up 48 years of following every week sitting in the same seats since 1967 and missing the friendships we had made.
So if you go to an away game, you are now donating to the NIL fund of the opposing team. 😂
This is why even though i played college ball….I will not pay to see a game💯
Name, image, and likeness of the money god.
One thing I do not want to ever hear ever again, especially since these players are making millions,is “leave them alone they are only kids” mo money mo problems
The vast majority of players aren’t making millions
Greed ruins everything
