I am a middle grounder with a slight bend towards resistance. I max both shield strength and resistances while also aiming for good recharge times with bi weave and fast charge.
i find fast charge for 6 and lower 7 and 8 lo-draw with thermal bi-weaves works amazingly well... i never use cell banks... dont like having to also use heatsinks... waste of a good utility slot ;)

Really been enjoying these best to worst videos. I've been playing Elite for quite some time, but I can only barely consider myself an intermediate player so these help me to make the most of my ships and survivability is key. I'm definitely in the 'big shields' camp, but I might trial a resistance build to compare the two in real combat.
A couple of things that were glossed over (although in general what you said is correct)... there is a use for Thermal HRPs, and that's when you run reactive armour and want to buff the thermal resistance by including a 1D HRP that's thermally engineered. The other point that was glossed over was the Thermal Resistance for Shield Generators also buffs the integrity of the module -- this can be a nice to have since in PvP with bi-weave shield generators on tactic is to try to module snipe the shield generator since a good PvP player will be able to recover their shields in around 45 seconds by disabling all their shield boosters, then re-enabling said shield boosters once the shield regenerates. For example: s.orbis.zone/68mf with the boosters disabled the recovery is only 45 seconds, and the hull resistances are nicely balanced.
I don't entirely agree with shield experimentals - I think you're missing an element here. Hi-cap is obvious but fast charge is not. It is great on porn-level distro ships with 6A+ Power Distributors but for small ships Low Draw is actually VERY beneficent when running a resistance Bi-weave build. It is actually mandatory, as otherwise you would impact your damage output by a lot. Size 3 Distro is not enough to keep both weapons and sys topped up on builds you can squeeze out of a Viper. Cobra and Courier. Low Draw is also great on Vulture Bi-weave+Res.

I'm in the "The idea of balancing to developers has instead turned into nerfing things to the ground for no apparent reason, so might as well enjoy how broken the game is by making the most jacked up Dolphin or Hauler possible until they 'fix' it" camp.
I've been working on one of those insane Prismatic Cutter shield builds.... mostly just... because there' not much else to do for me anymore.
I'll prob use at least one thermal resist booster, though... I suppose...
Hey Yamiks I'd prefer using 3 resistance boosters & 2 capacity boosters on a ship with 6+ utilities. Oh & my Anaconda build has ~840 MJ of shields non engineered.
Since I use Armour Power Plant on my Python (with Monstered Experimental) I dont mind throwing on a couple of Guardian Shield Reinforement Packages to strenghten my Bi-Weaves
PA are not a big risk in pve, unless you suck at piloting... even in my 10 and cutter i dodge more then im hit with.
bi-weave+thermal+fast charge(for rank 6 and below)/low-draw (for rank 7 and up) i find this build actually regenerates faster, oh yeah 3-4 augmented boosters with high cap, the rest max cap, if dealing with hatch breakers, put a single point defense on the bottom, outside that, i prefer this to any prismatic build i have tried, krait mkii, type 10, vette, cutter, they all work very well with these builds.... only use i have found for my pris have been the ability to put a smaller gen on a ship to get more cargo space....even then....meh...

Why not go fifty-fifty for boosters? As for shields, I'm all in for bi-weave. Maybe because I don't like the concept of dumping all my cell banks after a single clumsy encounter in haz res

I don’t get it? Shield boosters are all the same as in they increase shield health... there are not ones that focus on restistance???
You have so many double negatives, no one knows what you're asking.... but to answer generally. The best hybrid booster build is to mix hi cap super cap boosters with reinforced thermal block boosters. Say if you have 4 open mounts, u use 2 & 2 or 3 & 1 (hi cap vs rein thermal)
Is there any merit to taking Thermal Resistant hull armour if you're running Reactive Armour to counteract its weakness to thermal attacks? Or should you go with Heavy Duty even then? Or just not bother with Reactive armour and stick with Military Composite instead.
It also occurs to me that this might depend on how many HRPs you have stacked up as well, with the cap on resistances being what it is.
At this point I am just watching yours and a few other non-changeling pilots while I cool off from elite's dull grind.
In terms of how fast other grindy games that got a one year hiatus because of dull gameplay loop, Elite Dangerous has done it in almost 2 weeks. I really wish I could play more instead of sitting in the dock and then exiting in less than a minute
Oh I forgot the Delacy hybrid ship should include ships from both Delacy & Zorgon because Zorgon is technically part of Delacy.

Hey Yamiks, A few days ago I rage quit Elite Dangerous. While playing Elite I also watched all of you videos. They where entertaining and informative. I will miss that.
I am quitting Elite because the developers are isolated from their customers. However, I found a site that may work. More so, the forum moderators are hyper-sensitive. I have been banned several times since I have been back. I criticize the devs banned. Criticize the moderators banned. Something else, the AI ships, I think everyone calls them NPC's, have overwhelming power. I have been blown up far too many times to be happy with the game. My most recent endeavor to kill a bad guy also ended in frustration. After 5 minutes of shooting at bad guy I got him down to 76%. Then he jumped out of the system. When he came back his shields were at 100% You would think that the developers would fix this bug. But the thousands of complaint fall on deaf ears.
OK so any of you Elite players with this same aggravation here is a link to issue tracker for all frontier games. I hope that we can bombard the site with hundreds of complaints about how not cool it is to be blown to bits in less than 10 secs. Also let them know that there is no fun in the game when the AI starts attacking you frequently. I bring this up because I had a Fer De Lance. 100 million credits. I lost all because the AI had locked on to me and made it its mission to constantly attack me.
