Seventeen Submissions - Six year old Nathan sparring with older stronger kids

- I see some jiu jitsu videos of talented and highly touted kids on RUclips (who I really admire and appreciate BTW) but their competition is often quite weak. Anyone can look good against weaker opponents, but do they have the heart, durability, and technique to do well against a steady diet of older, heavier, stronger, and more often than not higher ranked opponents who put up a fight?
It wouldn't be fair for 6 year old submission machine Nathan Hutchinson to spar with kids his own size and age so a steady diet of older bigger kids is what he trains with for now.
Not my prettiest video but I just made this for myself really to watch when I am missing my little buddy. I also made this video public so my mom can watch it. She really loves watching Nathan thrive. They disallowed videoing at Nathan's school so she got cut off so hopefully this video will hold her over for a little while. Sorry mom.
What an honor and blessing it was to be Nathan's grandpa. We are so close and love each other so much. We are not allowed to be grandpa and grandson any more. I hope that someday he comes to see me when he can. What a day that will be!!!
At this age it is all about not getting sat upon and squashed by the bigger kids because once you are flattened it is game over unless you are skilled in the art of JiuJitsu!! That said, this young boy did great!!
1:12 Whoa that reverse triangle came outta nowhere! Nice one! 😎
Nathan’s a tough little scrapper!
Wow, this boy has a future, he's a natural fighter! 👏🏽👏🏽🤼🔥
Dyiyf🥰
Yes, yes and more yes! He is nice. He got cheat on the handshake, keep his composure and came back with the bow and arrow choke. Yesssss!
you can really tell the difference between the kids who really want it and those that dont
I think that goes for adults also.
Yes that goes for Adults to but this is about Children Boys in Childhood not Adults.
I have the feeling that some of these kids are letting themselves get beaten by that kid because he's so cute
Well that was four years ago. I watched him sparring a few matches a couple nights ago and he got at least 20-25 high level submissions on bigger/older opponents. He's still pretty cute but not cute enough to tap his opponents out. It just doesn't work that way.
@@jeffersonsmith6109 i forgot to say he's a fantastic fighter, his armbars and the kimura from the north comes so natural for him. If a bully tries to take advantage of him he's going to break the bully's arms easily
Natural talent
Cool
Great video - what a mini machine. I've been looking at size difference in BJJ recently, and this video is a masterclass of skill vs size. I have a question, if you don't mind: do you think the larger opponents (1) are lacking something in aggression, (2) have taken on board the 'flow' approach, (3) are made to look slow at times here by the power of jiu-jitsu.... or some combination of all 3. It's not to detract in any way from Nathan's clear domination of his opponents, I'm just curious as to the idea that modern lifestyles may be making kids 'softer' (without implying judgement about aggression being a good/bad thing etc etc). I don't have much experience of kids' bjj, but at my judo club which is in a working class area the kids have some pretty intense fights. Apologies if my comment is too intrusive given I've just seen in your video description how this video is mainly just to show family.
Hello Chris PT. I think some of these bigger kids are not as assertive as Nathan. Some are though and you can see them cheat on the start and throw Nathan around a bit.
In addition to being as sweet as they come, Nathan is a rare talent who has it all - uncommon valor, speed/athletics, flexibility, a warrior spirit, technical understanding and application, work ethic, competitiveness, etc. Kind of a perfect storm! I am looking forward to seeing him when he is the age of his opponents in this video in a couple years.
I don't believe the flow idea is much of a thing here.
The "power of jiu jitsu" idea is definitely in effect as well. Nathan is putting many of these kids on the defensive which gives him more of an advantage. One reason he is able to do that is because he is more fluent in jiu jitsu than even many older kids. They say he is fast, but being fast doesn't get you anywhere unless you have somewhere to go with that speed.
As for modern lifestyles making kids softer, I totally agree. Feminism has taken a horrible toll on today's young men.
As Nathan's grand father I have had the pleasure of being able to have a masculine influence on Nathan since he was a baby. I fear video games and less than masculine influences may weaken him as he has more opportunity to be exposed to them in the years to come. Hopefully not so much to hurt him.
I am always trying to get him out of the house and acting like a boy, which he loves!
@@jeffersonsmith6109 I really appreciate you taking the time to write such a comprehensive reply to my comment. What a great combination of talent you describe - with continued motivation, it suggests that when he is the age of the older opponents in this video he will then need to be fed 11-12 year olds! I see what you mean about putting opponents on the defensive, and maybe some of their slowness is then a kind of resignation once their attacks (or initial cheats) have failed to gain them much advantage.
Big respect to you - I love the outdoors too and I'm sure you're an ideal influence.
@@Athletophy Thanks Chris PT. We do our best no doubt.
@@mashahdawab I'm going to let this stand as a perfect example of your negativity, ignorance, delusion, and just flat bogus claims and accusations. For now...
So glad I don't have to know or be around people like you.
Probably not going to see anything about the negative poster's kid. Too easy to put down other people's kids and schools no doubt. I wouldn't comment on his kid anyways. His dad is not his fault.
Nathan's last tournament a couple weeks ago. All submissions as usual? Or comps that "look like shit"?
JJWL California OpenMay 29, 2021.

Nathan's Grappling X Summer Games tournament where the above liar and negative poster's kid was competing as well. All submissions for Nathan again and double gold on July 17, 2021.

very technical
Szia
good !!!
Thanks!
He has good techniques, and the older ones are being gentle? I don't know haha 😅
Nathan has several videos of his tournaments on my channel that you may help you to understand?
Yeah, I probably should watch more. Thanks sir. 🙂
Be
Fake!
The older ones are not really trying.
Well that's all he's got. No way can he spar against kids his own size and age it would be way to one sided and pointless. BTW this BJJ school is known for having a strong kids class. I have seen parents from other schools bring their kids here to train them up before tournaments many times.
How is it "fake"? Are you imagining the kids got together and agreed to throw the sparring matches for Nathan? Maybe you are imagining his tournament videos are fake too?
@@jeffersonsmith6109 Sorry, perhaps I misunderstood the video.
So he’s just training and these are not actually competitions.
My bad.
@@farris5918 No worries.
