తెలంగాణ పదం ఎంత పాతది?
దక్కన్ ప్రాంత ప్రాచీనతను అర్థం చేసుకోవడం అంత సులభం కాదు. ఈ ప్రదేశ భౌగోళిక నిర్మితిని తెలుసుకోకుండా దక్కన్ చరిత్ర ఆవిష్కృతం కాబోదు. ఇక్కడి కొండలు, గుట్టలు, నదీనదాలు, అడవులు, ఖనిజసంపదలు బోధపడనిదే ఇక్కడ నివసించిన మానవ సమాజాల విస్తరణ చరిత్రను రచించడం సాధ్యం కాదు. భారతదేశంలో దక్కన్ పీఠభూమి హిమాలయాలకన్నా వయస్సులో పెద్దది. దక్కన్ నదులు కూడా ఉత్తరాది నదులకన్నా వయసులో పెద్దవే. ఇక్కడి నదీతీరాలలో వెలసిన మానవనాగరికత చాలా ప్రాచీనమైనదే. దక్కన్ లో ఇంకా లోతైన చారిత్రక పరిశోధనలు జరగాల్సి వుంది.
దక్కన్ పీఠభూమిలో దొరికిన చారిత్రక పూర్వయుగపు ఆనవాళ్ళవల్ల మానవుల ఉనికి దాదాపు 15 నుంచి 12 లక్షల సంవత్సరాల ముందరి నుంచే లభిస్తుందనే చెప్పాలి. దక్కన్ రాజులు, రాజ్యాల ఉనికిని రామాయణ, భారతేతిహాసాలు ప్రస్తావిస్తున్నాయి. బౌద్ధమత సాహిత్యంలో, పౌరాణిక సాహిత్యంలో దక్కన్ ప్రాంతాలను పాలించిన పాలకులను పేర్కొంటున్నాయి. కాని, వేదాలలో దక్కన్ ప్రస్తావన లేదు.
సాతవాహన పూర్వయుగపు రాజ్యపాలకుల నుంచి కాకతీయ పాలకులదాకా రాజవంశాల గురించి చాలా వివరంగానే తెలుస్తున్నది. కాకతీయానంతర పాలకులైన ముసునూరినాయకులు, వెలమనాయకులు, రెడ్డిరాజులు, బహమనీలు, కుతుబ్షాహీలు, ఆసఫ్జాహీల పాలనల గురించి విస్తారంగానే చరిత్ర లభిస్తున్నది.
1.శ్రీశైలం, 2. కాళేశ్వరం, 3. దాక్షారామం... త్రిలింగాల తావులుగా ప్రసిద్ధమైన క్షేత్రాలు. ఈ మూడు లింగక్షేత్రాల నడుమవున్నది త్రిలింగదేశమని అప్పకవివంటి కొందరు సాహిత్యకారులు వాడిన మాట. త్రిలింగదేశమంటే తెలుగుదేశమని అర్థం లేదు. సిపిబ్రౌన్ ఆంధ్రాంగ్ల నిఘంటువులో త్రిలింగదేశమంటే తెలుగు ప్రదేశమని అర్థం లేదన్నాడు. త్రిలింగ పదం నుంచి తెలుగు పుట్టలేదు. త్రిలింగక్షేత్రాల ప్రాచీనత పౌరాణికంగా పురాతనమనిపించినా చారిత్రకంగా మధ్యయుగాలకన్నా ముందరది కాదు. పండితులు సంస్కృతీకరించిన కల్పిత గంభీరనామం త్రిలింగదేశం. నన్నయ భారతంలో ఎక్కడా త్రిలింగదేశనామాన్ని ప్రస్తావించలేదు.
తెలింగ లేక తెలుంగు అనే పదం ఆణెము(=దేశము, రాజ్యము, మాగాణి) కలిసి తెలింగాణెము లేక తెలుంగాణెము అనే పేరు ఏర్పడ్డది. తెలింగ లేదా తెలుంగు పదాలెక్కడివి. గోదావరికి ‘తెలివాహ’ అనే పేరున్నది. తెలివాహ నది ఒడ్డున జీవించిన ప్రజలు తెలివానులుగా పిలువబడ్డారు.(మహాభారతం) తెలివాన్లే తెలిగాన్లు తెలింగాన్లు, తెలింగులు, తెలుగులుగా పరిణమించడానికి వీలున్నది. తెలుగుల ఆణెమే తెలంగాణం కావడం సహజం.
అరహనూరు, ...గ్రంథంలో మౌర్యుల పక్షాన తమిళులతో యుద్ధం చేసిన వడుగర్లు తమిళదేశానికి ఉత్తరాననే ఉండవచ్చు. కాని, వింధ్యపర్వతాలకు దక్షిణాపథంలోనివారే. దక్షిణాపథం అనేది సాతవాహనుల ‘నాణేఘాట్’ శాసనంలో పేర్కొనబడ్డది. తెన్ ద్రావిడభాషాపదానికి దక్షిణం అనే అర్థముంది. వింధ్యకు దక్షిణాన వున్నవారు తెన్ ప్రజలు, తెన్ గులు. తెనుగువారు. వారే తెలుగువారని పిలువబడివుంటారు. అక్షరవ్యత్యయం అనేది భాషాపరిణామంలో సహజం. వీరిని బర్మా(మియన్మార్)లో తైలాంగులని పిలిచేవారు. అక్కడి శాసనాలలో, సాహిత్యంలో తైలాంగులు పేర్కొనబడ్డారు. వారు పాడుకునే లాలిపాటల్లో తాము తెలంగాణ ప్రాంతం నుంచి వచ్చినవారమని పాడుకుంటారు. కనుక తెలంగాణ అనే పదం 5,6 శతాబ్దాలనాటికే వాడుకలో ఉందని చెప్పడానికి అవకాశముంది.
స్కాంధపురాణంలో త్రిలింగదేశం ప్రస్తావన వుంది. త్రిలింగక్షేత్రాల నడుమవున్న భూభాగం త్రిలింగదేశమని అంటుంది ఆ పురాణం. షోడశ జనపదాలలో అస్మక జనపదం తెలంగాణ భూభాగంలోనిదే. షోడశ జనపదాలే కాక కొందరు మరికొన్ని జనపదాలను చరిత్రకారులు పేర్కొంటుంటారు. వాటిలో ఆంధ్ర జనపదం ఒకటి. ఈ జనపదానికి సంబంధించిన నాణాలు దొరికాయని ప్రముఖ నాణకవేత్త డి.రాజారెడ్డి వారి రచనల్లో ప్రస్తావించారు. అటువంటిదే వాయుపురాణంలో తెలింగుల జనపదం పేర్కొనబడ్డదని విజ్ఞులంటారు.
తెలంగాణను ‘తెలంగాణా’ అని పేర్కొన్న శాసనాధారం తొలిసారిగా ‘తెలంగాణ’ అన్న పేరు, తెలంగాణ దేశం సరిహద్దులు ముమ్మడినాయకుని క్రీ.శ.1358నాటి శ్రీరంగం రాగిరేకుల శాసనంలోని 5,6వ శ్లోకాలు, 8,10 పంక్తులలో పేర్కొనబడ్డాయి.
తెలంగాణ అనే పేరు ప్రస్తుత సంగారెడ్డి జిల్లా తెల్లాపూర్ మండలకేంద్రంలో ఒక దిగుడుబావి ముందర వెలుగుచూసిన క్రీ.శ.1417 ఫిబ్రవరి...శక సం.1339, హేవిళంబి నామ సం.ర మాఘ శుద్ధ దశమినాడు వేసిన శిలాశాసనంలో కూడా ప్రస్తావించబడ్డది.
