Say what you want, Leandros is a paranoid fool, but he is exactly the type of person the Imperium wants, and he's quite perfect for the role of Chaplain. It was the Inquisition's fault.
The arch enemy is an insidious and ever present foe… you cannot allow even the bonds of brotherhood to cloud your judgment should suspicion grow… also let’s be honest, part of Titus’s punishment was probably to do with the inquisition trying to cover their own rear end after having one of their own used as a literal meat suit by a Deamon to cause most of the mess in the first place. Never forget just how petty the inquisition can be when it comes to shifting blame to someone else.

Chaplains can reveal their face whenever they want. They wear a death mask of the Emperor to inspire fear of failure in their brothers. When a chaplain removes their mask, it is in keeping with that motive. It's to tell the battle brother, "I will look you in the eyes so you know I am sincere in my motives." It is both an act of a chaplain's humility, and their overwhelming authority. It is to look at the true form of an angel and be afraid. Some chaplains don't even wear a death mask. There's been examples of chaplains without helmets since 1995.
@@Keram-io8hv The only Chaplain I ever really liked is Apollo Diomedes. And when I asked about him I was told the mask doesn’t come off ever. So no, not an expert definitely
Talk about failing upwards. All Leandros' superiors wanted Titus back to the chapter.

@@andyroobrick-a-brack9355fr, Leandros may be a bastard but his unyielding faith in the emperor is exactly what is needed for a chaplain.
