@xLirpaRevilo : I bought a first generation version (no handle) about 12 years ago after seeing one owned by a coworker who used it to prepare oatmeal for her meal break. It has served me faithfully ever since then. I live by myself and firing up the gas range to prepare rice every day was a waste of time, energy, and gas. With this little cooker I can prepare a few days' worth of rice. It's certainly not "ridiculous". Perhaps if you were to try one you'd also find it most worthwhile.
Love this rice cooker, had mine for years. Use it every week.
