Bryony. Thank you so much for "turning up everyday". Your energy and enthusiasm help remind me how enjoyable the profession can be and that I am in a privileged role. Your videos always give me the boost I need when I am flagging . This month I am journeying into the unknown - independent practice! I will be keeping you by my side (virtually) x
Hi Bryony, I'd love to see a video about working with non-verbal/beginning LSL with older kids (4 - 6 years old). I work with deaf children who are learning to listen and speak, but from time to time I see children who did not receive services and they are pre-verbal at those late ages. While the milestones, timeline, strategies remain the same as for younger kids, adapting the toys/interests and also dealing with some age-related challenges is hard. For example, how would you teach "waiting" during conditioned play (audiometry) for an older kid? Also some activities are easier when a toddler is sitting on a high chair, how wold you deal with a curious, ever-moving 4 y.o.? Thanks.
Byrony, I’m an early years practitioner and have been working with children and families for many years. I wondered if you could recommend a comprehensive book about early years speech and language development and ideas to support children.
