I know it's a bit late but, the aprons don't physically attach to the tub. They only bolt to the fenders and bib. There is a little rubber piece that is clipped on the end of the apron to protect the paint, in case they rub. The holes in the end of the apron are fore the spring clips to hold the rubber gasket thing. There should not be holes in the tub side. There is just a gap between the apron and the tub.
You know, I had remembered it worked something like that. I went to double check on my parts truck and it had a few screws through the tub? Very weird. Anyway, thanks for pointing that out!
I just bought a 1969 fj40 and iam going to use your knowledge and ideas thank you.
my cruiser was yellow with black accents and it looked great
I like the black two tone
Black looks good
I would be tempted but I would get them orange to start and then revert back to black if you don’t like. Two tone is definitely an acquired taste
