- On November 03, 1997, to coincide with the Dutch translation of his international bestseller The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order, political scientist Samuel Huntington lectured at the John Adams Institute. Huntington wrote The Clash of Civilizations as a result of an article published in Foreign Affairs in 1993, in which he argues that all future conflicts will occur at the boundaries between different cultures and civilizations. His theory evoked so much response that he decided to work out his arguments and to publish them in book form. In the book, huntington takes an even more drastic stand: the image of a universally Western oriented world in development is misplaced, arrogant, untrue and dangerous. Huntington contends that some great cultures, such as the Islamic and the Confucian, will continue to exist in rivalry with Western cultures. This clashes with the Western drive to spread its own culture, and will lead to confrontations of cultural origin. Samuel Huntington was Professor of International Politics at Harvard University, where he also headed the John M. Olin Institute for Strategic Studies.
Samuel Huntington died in 2008, at the age of 81.

Talking about middle east without remembering The Sykes-Picot agreement ?
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin' for today
Ah
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace
You
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
Imagine if he stopped beating his wife
F. communist :)
Imagining is no virtue to understanding why things are the way they are and adapting to actually progress forward. Its evasion of responsibility and nothing else.
boy with a plan, a natural man
Wearing a white stetson hat
Unhand that gun begone
There's no one to fire upon
If he's holding it high, he's telling a lie
I heard it was you
Talkin' 'bout a world where all is free
It just couldn't be, and only a fool would say that
The man in the street draggin' his feet
Don't wanna hear the bad news
Imagine your face there is his place
Standing inside his brown shoes
You do his nine to five
Drag yourself home half alive
And there on the screen
A man with a dream
I heard it was you
Talkin' 'bout a world where all is free
It just couldn't be
And only a fool would say that
Anybody on the street
Has murder in his eyes
You feel no pain
And you're younger than you realize
Only a fool would say that
Only a fool
I heard it was you
Talkin' 'bout a world where all is free
It just couldn't be, and only a fool would say that
Only a fool would say that
Only a fool would say that
Democracy doesn't work without God.

Interesting to listen to some of the questions : so naive !
This is over 20 years old
And we've watched what he had theorized come to be.
I really hope the west awakens..
@@papyrustheroyalguardsmen3446 Hitler was the exact opposite of the “civilization conflict” that Huntington is alluding to in his thesis. Hitler’s wars with the west and the USSR was entirely ideological-fascism vs communism vs capitalism. Hitler actually was very complimentary of the Islamic civilization/culture.
@Papyrus the royal guardsmen Hi, hope you're doing well :) I hope you are open to discuss your comment with me a little and I ask this because there are a lot of people on the internet that take every kind of discussion personally.
I don't think that Hitler stands for that process of awakening that Huntington describes. Actually, in my opinion he didn't even wake the west up but made the situation worse, but that is a different topic.
For me Huntington's approach says that the west should unite with the US to not be destroyed. Hitler did the exact opposite by letting the Germans fight against other countries of the western culture. He didn't try to keep the western population together and made them cooperate based on their similar culture. He tried to destroy the culture from the inside by tearing the countries apart from each other. Ok, he also fought against the other cultures which fits to Huntington's thesis again, but still I do believe that he is not a good example of Huntington's awakening of the west.
I'm looking forward to your opinion and apologize for any English mistakes I made, I'm a German student so please correct me!

possibility for universal values?
Are you talking about Universal values set by the global Corporations? Or maybe Universal values set by gender studies professors? Or maybe just the Universal values of the Marxist? Four thousands of years those values were set by God.
Fuck God.

Great talk, I stopped listening when the former dutch prime minister started on his self loading, virtue signaling rant. Big challenge ahead, hope we can stop ourselves going into reverse.
