    Drove to Stanthorpe from the Sunshine Coast last weekend. Saved over $100 compared to average Australian consumption. Less than $17 even if we had to pay for the destination charge which was free.
    Love our 2012 and 2021 Leafs.
    Both of them tow, and there's no fumigation when attaching the trailers.

    Thanks for your costs, I'm an expat in the UK and possibly heading back home in a couple of years, I have a Nissan Leaf Tekna 2017 30kWh 30,000 I recently worked out my overall since cost since purchase and running costs over 4yrs came to £21,000 it came out at £0.70p per mile. In $ that would be @1.87 exchange rate $39,270.00 total klm 48,000 = $0.82c per klm.
    Comparing to our other vehicle my wife drives a Qashqai it's a massive saving , I put £65.00 worth of petrol in the Qashqai recently and based on just cost per mile only my Tekna cost £0.04p/ per mile.
    That £65.00 worth of electricity I can drive 1,625 miles
    Here in the UK you have 2 tariffs daytime and night time, night time rate is approximately 50% cheaper than the daytime rate. 95% of my charging is Night rate.
    My annual average miles/kWh is 4.6 that comes from the Nissan app it works out for you.
    Hope the above figure can give you a comparison.

    • @ev4me2
      @ev4me2  3 года назад

      Thanks for the comparison Chris. Total costs over the year makes an EV, at least half the overall running cost, compared to ICE.
      In the UK your electricity would be cheaper than Australia, so your savings could be better. Also your electricity companies in the UK are more EV friendly.
      We get similar consumption figures of 6-6.5 km per kWh

      The Nissan Leaf is nice, but there some other great EV's out there. BYD are making a big push next year into different countries around the world. Cheaper EV with a longer range, or if you wanted something flashier (more expensive), you could go for a Model 3 Tesla. Or something more practical like a Kona electric.

    That was great you two. Yes hard to believe it's been a year. Once lockdown ends and you get some longer summer road trips it would be great to know how the battery goes with the increased heat - you often hear that from the leaf naysayers about the lack of cooling system of the battery ... that you get significantly decreased range . Also are the back seats good for taller people i.e over 6ft?

    I have had a Nissan Leaf 30 kwhr for 5 1/2 years. I bought it brand new in 2016. At first it had 107 miles range, now it has only 78 miles range and has lost 2 out of 12 battery bars. All Nissan leafs use a natural convection cooling system and completely lack an active temperature battery management system. In my car which has hardly been rapid charged comparatively to being fast charged in my home on a 7kw charger, it has resulted in rapid battery degradation and is continually getting worse in temperate UK, not somewhere like Arizona. The car has only done 24000 miles. The battery is the largest cost item on the car.
    Not good !

    • @ev4me2
      @ev4me2  3 года назад

      Yes the AZE0 Leaf did not have the best battery. ZE1 battery was a little bit better, because they changed the chemistry. But better active cooling and better battery chemistry is the key.

      If you are interested in importing through a broker in Australia (Save between $5,000-$10,000)
      Call either of these top 3 Aussie importers, I cannot split them apart. All have over 20 years experience and have imported tens of thousands of cars between them.

      We do not have batteries at home, but we have a 5 MWh Tesla battery in the suburb.
      We have a 2.5 kW solar system, but we export to grid directly (45.7 c/kWh). We make about $1000 per year after our electricity bill. So I guess its free electricity, plus $1000.

      A good question Sharon !
      The e+ Leaf (62 kWh), cost roughly $49000 landed, but that was last year.
      But you can pick them up now $43000-$49000, if you are guided by a Aussie import broker.

      The 40 kWh Leaf can be bought for $29000, we purchased Kuro a couple of month ago for this price.
      Importing is quite easy, speak to any of the above companies, to see how they can help you.
      Or if you want to go through a Japanese car yard/online business, it will cost you an extra $5000 - $10000 on top. You will hear the usually waffle from these companies, saying "You cannot do it yourself", "Its dangerous", "The sky is falling", etc
