    Just a random video idea saw it where you all make decks then whoever wins the die roll says left or right then you hand your commander deck with the commander to the person to your left/right then play with no one knowing what’s in the deck. I think it’s a fun way to play.

      The basics of storm decks are the same, make Mana, draw cards, repeat until you find your win. You have areas for self expression, like how you win, or the engines you use, but the basic principle behind it is always going to be the same. Just like how the basic principle behind aggro decks are to play creatures turn sideways. Glad you enjoyed how I won, even if you didn't like the road we took to get there! Maybe I won't get cheated out of my aggro deck next time 😂!

    • @MTGSavage
      @MTGSavage Год назад +1

      Don't worry I was too and thoroughly disappointed because cEDH isn't in the video title. Unfortunately this is why pick up games are shit now anywhere you go because of channels like this.

    • @stormincorbyn
      @stormincorbyn Год назад +3

      This is actually an interesting discussion point. Why do you guys think this is cedh? Because of some of the cards that were used? Because I played a combo deck? To our understanding, cEDH as a philosophy is where you build a deck around the most efficient tactic available and use the most efficient cards possible to achieve this. While I can see saying the decks are high powered, idk about cEDH. We want to have a channel that has something for everyone, so we're super interested in feedback!

    • @MTGSavage
      @MTGSavage Год назад +2

      @Skulduggery Kain I'll be honest with you man, your line between what's cEDH and what's considered casual (if that's what you were going for here because it's not in the title of the video) is very blurry. It seems like every deck you build you use the most efficient cards in those colors to build your decks. Is that the optimal thing to do? Yeah honestly but anyone that tries that hard all the time should be playing cEDH only IMHO not casual .
      I know a lot of people like yourself that can't sandbag or use alternate cards that aren't as great as other options and frankly those are the people I either kill first in a pod or outright don't even play with anymore because the games aren't enjoyable at all. Sandbagging and winning with cards that don't see as much play is WAY more fun IMHO. I used to play cEDH. Held my own. Won a decent amount of games but wasn't having fun because the format is VERY linear. Your deck is designed to do one thing consistently and that's it. Not my style of play I enjoy. I like variance and versatility in my decks.
      Once I quit playing cEDH and playing with the people I mentioned I've been having way more fun playing commander. Maybe it's just me but I like building decks with restrictions and still winning because I know how good of a deck builder I am not to toot my own horn and I'm constantly told this from surrounding people I play with.
      You wanted criticism so I delivered. Also playing Mana Crypt and rituals in casual is maximum try hard vibes. I run ZERO mana crypts in my decks and still manage to win plenty.
      Oh and before you say my opinion isn't valid my first play group was the owner of EDHREC.com and I've been playing commander consistently non-stop since Meren of Clan Nel Toth the precon was introduced and I've been playing magic itself since Nemesis off and On and non-stop since Shadows Over Innistrad until now.
      Hope this feedback is listened to.

      @zackwilcox3183 Год назад +2

      @@stormincorbyn idk who you are in relation to the pod in vid as I just stopped by to watch new cards as commanders. When the stack is "Mana drain - middle the mixture - Mana drain - force of will - flusterstorm" from 3 seats to stop an early assembled 2ish card 'infinite' combo , that kind of screams CEDH in of itself. By all means be a channel for CEDH if y'all want or for your pod playing games on or off can if that's what ya'll enjoy , arguing this isn't CEDH tho seems silly we got the likes of 0 Mana rocks , Sylvan library , that whole counter stack war I mentioned , the 2ish card inf. Combo with commander that curves into eachother and very cheap Mana cost to get into.
      It's like the argument that this isn't CEDH is entirely based on the fact these are new cards so there isn't deck lists pinpointing the exact cards to run to go copy paste but someone has to pioneer those deck lists to begin with either way lol... A lot of the cards shown in this game are CEDH staples. Would anyone in this pod try genuinely to say these are just like 8-9-10 casual decks in appose to just saying oh yeah it's like tier 3 CEDH?
      I can't see there username while writing this reply but the other guy responding to your comment sums it up well , and I'd agree CEDH is boring for me personally , it's the same cards in more or less the same decks and the deck brewing aspect is almost tossed out the window as I'm sure not counting the lands prob 70-80% of these decks is likely just CEDH staples to copy paste. How many of the decks in this particular game had a 'Thassa's Oracle' in 'em ?
      I don't necessarily believe I need to validate my comment with when I been playing but to follow suit for the fun of it I started back in Avacyn Restored , not super far back but I've been playing awhile took a break from like end of Khans block until like after ikoria but other then tht mostly been active.

      @hainzyy Год назад +1

      @@stormincorbyn I can resonate with you on this. My friend group is adamant that they're not cedh, but the decks are definitely 7-10s. (i also hate the 1-10 scale, but that's neither here nor there).
      So fast mana is a good starting point, but fast mana =/= cedh, it's a piece for sure. But my friend for example that runs a mana crypt in Avacyn for ramp purposes goes against that qualifier. How he built* avacyn is not cedh.
      Next, I would say card selection in addition to fast mana can help a infer if a deck is pushing that level. But again, if you optimized card selection and run some fast mana, could that be a 9 or a 10? if it's a 10, it's on the edh scale still, and not cedh right?!?! lol. Sorry, this is just back to my dislike of the scale, that's all.
      Where am i going with this? All this to say, we know it's a subjective game, scale, perception, and meta. This VERY well could be 'casual' for the 4 of you, and that has to be acknowledged. It could also be too high power for LGS Abc, or Friend group xyz and that's also totally fine.
      I agree just because it's combo, doesn't mean it's cedh, too. Imagine we play rock paper scissors, but it's taboo to use scissors, and that's considered cedh. What are you supposed to do, not play 1/3 of the ways to play a game? How are archetypes going to be socially banned from the start. (Idk if anyone in this thread even is saying this, i just saw you mention combo and i am a believer in anyone can play any archetype they want as that's what's fun for them.)
      Quick loop back to CEDH, so fast mana, card selection, and then i would add in mentality to complete the recipe of cedh. PEople going into a game know they are playing cedh. If someone has a bad experience with a combo player at a store, it's not just that combo is to overpowered. It's that person A and You could have two different expectations of enjoyment, potentially 2 different metas outside of the LGS with friends, and two different measures of enjoyment in edh. Winning might be fun for person A while jank is fun for you. We can't expect someone to know or play how we want them to play so that we have a good time. BEing open before any public matches in the wild helps a ton. I think bad experiences taint the archetypes a bit universally, like on youtube. If someone is really trying to pull one over a group at an lgs and pubstomp, there was just a miscommunication or no communication before hand. Those individuals shouldn't paint the picture of all decks/players in the world.
      I'm rambling. It's a great discussion. I like your gameplay as it's close to my friends' even when im the one trying to slow it down... i ended up speeding up my decks to match and hey, we still have fun!
      For that, I'm following.
