Absolutely no problem actually. The electrics are fully sealed. If you check there’s a guy who’s Renault Zoe sat overnight in 18” of water. He got in & drove it away after the flood went down. They then got the carpets etc dried out & it was fine.
Frankly I’m disgusted that all those 4x4s that had the means went through and did nothing to pull the car out of the water and clear the ford for traffic. As for the “we’re gripped, we’re sorted, let’s off-road” Land Rover drivers; shameful. Was there enough safe clearance for the Fire Brigade had to get an equipment through there on an emergency call? I have an ex_army 109 long wheelbase and yes, I would have cleared the waterway and helped the driver. A few minutes, is that to much to ask?

You can see the it's about technique. Just be used you have 4x4 doesn't mean the airbox won't get wet. Even small cars can get through if they create the correct bow wave
A lot comes down to intake location too, my vans is behind the headlight a good 4 feet off the deck, but my mondeo has the intake pipe down beside the left foglight maybe 10" off the floor. I wouldn't go through a mild puddle in that!
Yes indeed. I went through a flood the other day in my Audi A2. The intake is at the bottom just in front of the front drivers side wheel. Normally it’s shallow but this time it wasn’t. I wouldn’t have gone through if I knew it was that deep. It was at least 18”, maybe close to two feet. I got through fine whereas I drove past a broken down X5 on the way back!
Surprised they didn’t break down. Such shitty vehicles mine was always in the shop , same with my co workers. Within a week of buying it from dealership the motor went. Pieces of shit can’t even survive paved roads yet alone off-road
