    Having driven the real thing i can confirm its got plenty of power hence the nickname 'Raging Bull'. to be fair to it its fairly smooth riding at 25mph. its a joy to operate. hopefully she will be back in steam in a few years.

    I've got 1501 pre-ordered from Rails of Sheffield. She'll be a welcome addition to my 0-6-0 fleet, and a stark contrast to the Bachmann 57xx I've already got. I always thought that the 15xx class looked like a Westernised-version of the USATC 'S100' tank engine.

    • @martinsurridge7390
      @martinsurridge7390 Год назад

      I understand that the "GWR" we're very impressed with the S100 shunters, and basically updated that chassis, and put it with a 94xxx boiler and cab, giving them a modern powerful shunter?

    • @BrokenIET
      @BrokenIET Год назад +1

      @@martinsurridge7390 Yeah as far as I‘m aware thats where the idea came from. The GWR were so happy with the S100s that they made their own (though clearly swindonised and heavily modified)

    Thanks for a really insightful review. It looks particularly cleverly designed to get the balance of necessary weight In whilst being properly Dcc ready. I’ve no real need for one but you might just have sold it to me!

    My as preservation 1501 just came today: absolutely amazing there’s so much fitted detail, features (firebox light, opening side shutters and roof vent) and die cast metal on a model that at £127 is even cheaper than the smaller rapido 16xx at £148! Mine unfortunately has tank that are very matt in finish so don’t match the cab and faded on one, the brake rigging bends down to rail height at the back, there was dust on too of its tanks when it came, glue marks all over it and the drain cocks are snapped on one side so quality control issues and it’ll have to go back. Also not specific to mine (I think) the BR mixed traffic lining does appear to be only light grey-gap-red not light grey-cream-gap-red so why not go the whole way on a model with writing printed on the inside of the cab shutters you can’t read?

    Thanks Jen, a great review of what looks like a great model. I have one on pre-order in the lined BR black livery as preserved and hopefully should get it in the next few days.
    Incidentally, when Hawksworth produced the design while still in GWR days, one of the GWR board directors is reputed to have said "at last, a GWR loco with outside valve gear".

    Lovely model and excellent review. Right now, my hard earned "loco purchase fund" is being spent with Dapol, Accurascale & Rapido. They just seem to have stolen a march on the big boys in detail, looks, value for money and are even holding their own with respect to performance.

    I've been incredibly eager for this model, I have 1505 on order and am excited to see it land in my Hattons trunk. I'm happy with my choice of BR lined black, but that GWR green livery was incredibly tempting to me; I think the people who went for the GWR green will be really happy with their choice!

    it is great to see an 0-6-0 locomotive with outside cylinders and valve gear, but why o why did they not number it 5001 as the prototype is numbered. Well done Rapido and Jenny for a great review of this model. I look forward to when Rapido come out with an LNER locomotive that nobody else has produced. Martin. (Thailand)

    Looking forward to my sample coming in, not a GWR modeller but liked the USA tank so had to get one of these in lined BR black for a nice could have been on my layout. Keep up the videos, great reviews with positivity which is nice to hear and see!

    Another truly great looking model. I'm expecting many great things from Rapido in the future seeing as they give engines a chance to shine in 00 that have been somewhat overlooked by the industry. I kinda hope that they eventually maybe make the Hunslet Jazzer type that used to work at the Ship Canal in Manchester and that they maybe eventually find a way to pick up their BR Class 04 project again.

    I got to hold one at OXRAIL yesterday and they are very heavy. Ours is in a TRUNK at Hattons so technically we do own one. Or should I say we now have p0arts for 3 as I am slowly getting bits and a super drawing for a pair in 5" They are incredibly popular in this scale. A friend has one within walking distance of here. JOKE small 1505 is to sit on the running board of the bigger one. Balance upon the top cylinder cover. David and Lily.

    I am 99.9% sure it does not have a hall sensor for a few reasons. Firstly the chuff rate on my sound model is out as you expect with virtual chuff rate... yours isn't sound fitted. Secondly, if it was a hall, firstly they would have made use of it, and it would surely be in the manual?
    Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm fairly confident I am not

    Looks a great model, but I'll pass on this one. Hopefully one day Rapido might do a LMS or the holy grail MR, which was one of the largest railway companies prior to the big four but seems very sparsely covered in recent years. When they are, soon sold out and fetch high used prices (Bachman MR1532 for example).

    I listened to this review and was impressed by what she had to say. Then I listened to Sam's Trains review ruclips.net/video/byewqta_aa4/видео.html and wondered whether he was talking about the same engine. Was it just a poor sample. Very confusing to me.

    • @JenniferEKirk
      @JenniferEKirk  Год назад +1

      Sadly he is desperately unlucky in always getting a damaged model. He probably needs to complain to whichever courier firm they arrive with, as no-one else is that unlucky and they must be getting damaged in transit as no-one else has the same issues.

    • @danielholden-storey5107
      @danielholden-storey5107 Год назад

      an interesting explanation but it must be a wide array of couriers. Perhaps he should list them so we can avoid them! @@JenniferEKirk

      @@JenniferEKirk I’ve heard about many issues with these. I don’t own one myself, but I’ve seen many people end up with damaged examples. Also, I’ve heard about problems with glue marks everywhere, which would have nothing to do with the post workers. There’s also no such thing as luck in my opinion, but different people stand in different places there. It is good to see an example that didn’t have quality control issues though!
