    Hello everyone! I bought this knife 6-7 months ago so I would like to share my experience with you. Since this is a very large amount of money in my country, I have been choosing an EDC knife for a very long time, literally years ”. I'm rather satisfied with the knife, first I would say a few things about the handle .. I have big hands and it will take me a few days to get used to the position of the little finger, but through the use of a knife you see the benefit of that shape. I put on a tie and when you chopping the branches two fingers lock for that part of the handle, it’s amazing how well the knife chopping for its size. Secondly when you carve in wood for a long time (for example I made a bow) the hand does not get tired because you do not have to squeeze a hand "hooks" at the end of the handle is hooked to the fingers. I haven’t tested the steel but I roughly have the impression it keeps sharpness 3x longer than my 8cr13mov knives. It is ideal for food preparation, all in all an EXCELLENT knife that I would recommend to everyone ...

    Very cool Jake. This puppy needed a proper extensive review, and I can always count on you for the goods.

    Excellent overview and explanation. Thank you. I was considering this knife or a Bradford Knives Guardian 3. Hacing seen a few reviews of both, this knife is a lot cheaper and you get very much knife for the price. In europe it's around 85 euros including tax for the micarta version.

      I have enjoyed carrying this knife quite a lot. Sometimes I feel like keeping a certain knife on me long after the review is done, and this knife is one of those. But i have to take it off because I need to carry other knives that need time on my person so I can review them too.

    DROP.com has it on until Oct 26 for $69USD - if you are not yet a member of DROP use this link and you will SAVE $10USD off your first order: drop.com/buy/qsp-workaholic-n690-fixed-blade-knife?referer=ZQXF6R
    My contact at QSP told me the following about the sheaths:
    "The brown scout carry type sheath is for the old version QS124-A( brown flax micarta handle). The old version QS124-A and sheath was out of stock on our side and discontinued, but the dealer may still has it in stock, so it still on his website.
    The one -black sheath you have and on our website is the new sheath for new version QS124-A(brown linen micarta handle), we changed the leather material for the new sheath which is more stronger."
    She then also informed me:
    "We only have three versions of QS124-Workaholic (QS124-A, QS124-B, QS124-C), QS124-A and QS124-B are linen micarta handle version now which were flax micarta handle before, QS124-C is Raffir handle. and all three version QS124 are the same black leather sheath now, before is brown sheath for QS124-A, black sheath for QS124-B and C.
    But some dealers still have the old version QS124-A,B(flax micarta handle) and old version sheath for QS124-A, QS124-B, QS124-C in stock, so you can see different sheath options on their website. Also the Messerdepot-our Germany dealer also the designer of Workaholic made the customized kydex for QS124 and sell on his website.

    I bet you would be able to scrub off that discoloration. That's the thing with rough fiber micarta. They do pick up whatever they touch, but being such a workhorse material, you can scrub it pretty aggressively to clean it back to new. I use a stiff bristled toothbrush. Never had a stain I couldn't clean off.

      Yes, I got the micarta clean after I make this video. Just like you said.

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Ivan, (see other comment) says he found it to short at first too but it didn't take him long to get used to it.

    It's a beautiful blade.. but as a guy who likes an EDC fixed blade, I wish they'd offer a kydex sheath, the Bison comes with kydex and it's done quite well. Great review as always

      I agree, most guys would like a kydex sheath better. I have the Bison, it will get reviewed on CCE.

    That would make a nice secondary camp/bushcraft/survival knife, but I'd like to see QSP make a 1095 version to lower the price, $84-$76 is dwelling in Izula2 land. Thanks for sharing, Jake.

      Yes indeed, there is a lot of competition in that small fixed blade market - but that is true of all types of knives I guess. A D2 option would be a good idea, it would go well with the N690 - one with quite high corrosion resistance and one with a very well proven carbon steel.

    This knife makes me angry. I really want one but I cant deal with that horrible sheath. The old sheath looked like a great way to lose your knife if you scout carry so the new (improved?) one just eliminated that option.

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  3 года назад +1

      It is quit rare for me to review a knife that has a scout carry sheath. I find that very few knives in the price range that I tend to play in have scout carry sheaths. Which is why when I saw it with the original sheath I decided to get it, because I have not reviewed a knife with a sheath that could be used for scout carry since I started this channel. I do wish they would have both sheaths available and let you buy the knife with either sheath, that would be a real WIN.

      @@CanadianCuttingEdge I actually pulled the trigger on this one and have been carrying it for a few days. The sheath is...not that bad. I got the "new" sheath and it carries high enough that its out of the way most of the time. I do wish they offered a modern kydex sheath (since Sven Kinast doesn't seem to make them anymore) so I had options on how to carry it, but it's not a deal breaker. I'll probably just make my own in the future. Thanks for the review.

    self defense??? whoa we aren't allowed to use those kinda words here in Canada sir.

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  2 года назад +2

      I have mentioned in quite a few videos that we are not allowed to carry a knife for the purposes of self defence in Canada, I get it. But, I am not in person in front of an officer, I speak to the world not just to Canadians in my videos. In fact, less than 10% of my views come from within Canada.

    Most parks where I am and the adjacent states forbid you to use live trees or wood gathered by park rangers so small knives are preferred here.

    • @CanadianCuttingEdge
      @CanadianCuttingEdge  4 года назад

      Most parks across North America forbid gathering of wood from the park. they want people to bring their own. I am very happy that in Jasper National Park - my favourite - they provide wood at the campgrounds. That makes camping much easier.
