The helicopter is just a joke as she used to do it in her concerts fans ask her to repeat it if she reaches the final. The hat is a typical Spanish Cordobean hat (used in traditional folk costumes as flamenco suits) and the "throne" is as well a typical Spanish hair accessory called 'peineta' that women use in traditional costumes of flamenca or during the holy week acompaining the virgin. The message, well, not only an artist deserves to be called a diva but also the rest of women who work hard everyday as she is not only an artist but a family working woman. ❤

The helicopter IS not a joke. Its a movement in flamenco dancing and made a lot by gypsies. So old as mathusalem.
@Ariennher @Ariennher Obviously, I have explained the context of humor between herself and the fans to do it in this Benidorm Fest final context as foreign viewers should know it is not exactly a part of the show, she included it after all. I think it is clearly understandable.

This song is not about two divas, it is an autobiographical song. She started out as a singer at a very young age with worldwide success. She also explains that all women are divas, mothers, grandmothers, all of us. She has a very good live performance and has been singing for more than 25 years.

MELODY MAGNIFICENT!!. The VERY CAREFUL performance, appears elevated in the air on a swing, hanging what would be the train of the flamenco dress. Her elegant hat is a very old design hat, from Andalusia, from Cordoba, which gives an air of mystery. Her POWERFUL, VIBRANT, TEMPERAMENTAL, VOICE AND DANCE/MOVEMENTS WITHOUT LOOSING LYRICAL STRENGTH! and very warm lyrics. It is about the arrogance of certain Divas , and that really worker simple artists and all women in their jobs, both outside the home and inside, TRUE DIVAS!. A very sensual dance, what you see behind is the back of a throne, but in the shape of "a Spanish comb, which holds the hair, and over time its design became large for the taste of the Spanish women (in fact the small combs, Spain exported them abroad and imposed itself as a fashion for the hair of the rest of the women of so many countries around the world). Music that combines Spanish guitar chords with electro sound - TIMELESS!!! - , she is also charismatic, sensual, beautiful. She has great professionalism. Now we will see what happens with the JURIES and JUDGES of the Eurofestival. Spain has always sent MAGNIFICENT songs, staging, great voices.... but it is always from the middle down... Is not it strange?.... Video editors on RUclips from the U.S.A and other countries, SURPRISED by the bad positions obtained by Spain, having checked the other songs from Spain and rest of countries in other previous contests, for the riskiness in their staging, and potential voices. They all complain about the same thing: That the lyrics are not in English. Perhaps each country should compete with its native languages. Jurors are human, subject to discrepancies, inclination for "family" countries, captive votes due to military and armed conflicts interests, contribution for advertising from certain countries, greed.... That's not counting the HATERS. Something is wrong with Eurovision.
Melody was so famous when she was a child we all did dance with her music .. seeing like this now is amazing is a complete Artist ... she. can do anything she want
Guys, be honest: if Rosalía showed the same performance (haircopter included, which she also does because of her flamenco influences), you would be saying she is amazing, how can she do so many things at the same time, you would be praising her for bringing back a "nostalgic pop" vibe... But because it's Melody and she is not that well known, you are quick to call her outdated and "too much".

@mrknknk11 Haha sorry if my comment came out the wrong way, I am not a Melody stan and I do think her performance and song need a big revamp to get out of the bottom 5. My point was that, sometimes, we "forgive" superstars for singing/dancing/performing in a particular manner, whereas minor singers are judged much more harshly. My apologies to all the Rosalía fans out there, I only used her as an example.

The throne is actually a "peineta", a comb for the hair, something very typical in copla music, very folkloric. Women used to wear it to go to bullfights or even religious events, with a mantilla over it.
She IS singing about women and equality the song has a great lyrics
Melody is a great artist who has worked hard since she was a child. She is a true powerhouse, full of strength and passion, with a deeply flamenco soul. As a Spaniard proud of her country and culture, she carries Spain as her banner wherever she goes.
Her performance is filled with flamenco elements: the music, the Cordoban hat, the bata de cola (flamenco dress with a train), the structure shaped like a flamenco comb, and the characteristic hair whirl-a gesture deeply rooted in our culture.
As a Spaniard, I am incredibly proud to have her represent us before Europe and the world. She deserves it. Spain owed her this recognition after witnessing her growth, evolution, and transformation into what she is today: a true DIVA.

I think it's hard to get for those who dont understand the background of who Melody is, of what her music she put out as a child represents for a whole generation in Spain and LATAM.
I don't know how to explain it but I'll try. Part of me would normally think it's over the top, for 2025, her whole act and energy. But this is from a vibrant child prodigy from southern Spain who is now a mother and sings about Divas being everyday mothers and everyday people from humble backgrounds and whoever needs to feel empowered. And yes she is screaming it. But somehow it relates to how my spirit is screaming inside about wanting to be seen and valued just as me. I swear I choke up towards the end of the performance because of the empowerment and compassion and self-love the song makes me feel. I don't expect everyone to understand!

It is not a throne, it is a peineta (like a hairpin), used in flamenco style. Her perfomance is full of traditional flamenco elements, like the helicopter move.

Otra cosa es que lo de fuera lo tenemos tan asimilado que ya no sepamos reconocer elementos típicos flamencos, pero se ve claramente lo que es. Usa sombrero cordobés, bata de cola y peineta, elementos tradicionales del flamenco. Melody es sevillana y empezó cantando rumbas. Es normal que incluya su bagaje profesional. A unos gustará y a otros no, es normal.

The majority of Spanish Eurofans (the authentic ones who have been around for many years and who vote) do not want to be like the rest of Europe, sing styles that are not ours to get points, if we lose we do it with dignity and if we win it is by being ourselves , not losing authenticity while wanting to look like the rest. If we like it, it's perfect, if we don't like it, it's perfect too. Afterwards, the other countries do not know if Belgium or the United Kingdom is acting.

Hey William and Deban I’m surprised that you did not mention the real winner of the show…The Benidorm Festival…the final had 8 songs each of which was worthy of representing Spain. Such a great selection this year. I know the semi-finals suffered from poor vocals but most improved in the performance in the final. From years of internal selections to now a vibrant annual festival that clearly has the Spanish and international audience engaged…what a success.
The Eurovision pre-selection in Spain has an incredibly high level year after year, and this year, Melody has set the bar even higher. She captures the audience's full attention and truly deserves to represent Spain. SHE IS THE MOMENT 👑

This year was the weakest year of Benidorm yet, Melody has not set the bar higher lol, Chanel is the one who set the bar for Spain in 2022 and no one has managed to reach it again.

Melody tiene una potencia vocal que es obvia. A partir de ahí todo lo demás, canción y puesta en escena son mejorables. Como van a tener la oportunidad de hacerlo, que lo aprovechen.

After Lachispa disappointed me live, I won't lie only Mel Omana and Melody's performance gave me life despite 'I'm a queen' not being the best esc selection and 'Esa Diva' having a more dated sound. Their performance elevated both songs for me but Melody would work better in esc. Im the bigger picture will it do great? Probably not. But after some songs dropping the ball in the live, it was once of the only "decent" choices.
As for VIP, I loved the studio cut but he was off live. The stageing was awesome but even when he wasn't dancing his singing was off. It seems like the song wasn't really produced in his register as he was having trouble hitting the lower notes or he needed more vocal training. Plus when you compare it against the like of Agoney who didn't make it through despite having great staging and vocals, VIP as a package seemed a step down and I just knew the Spanish public wouldn't vote for it sadelly. I do want a male pop singer to make it eventually though.

William and commenters are absolutely right that there's more to Eurovision than just being competitive. The problem is that if you keep doing badly at the contest - broadcasters and artists lose interest, and Benidorm Fest gets cancelled. Deban's right, Chanel should have won in Turin, and I think she would have, under different circumstances. Spain can bring the fun and the cheese, but don't do it every year. Blanca Paloma was an unfortunate case of right style, wrong song - too harsh on the ears.
There’s no explanation for what happened to Blanca Paloma. That song was SO MUCH BETTER than 90% of all the other options available in Liverpool

The song is okay. She definitely has great stage presence and power in her voice. The choreography is a bit messy for me and wants to do way too much, I think it should be toned down. Some of the poses were also a bit weird, like when she is sitting down to do the high note? The dress she was wearing was also didn’t really suit her. Overall, I think she is a good performer and this could be something but this still needs a lot of work. Also, it feels a bit outdated, it feels very 2010. In general Benidorm was a bit of a letdown this year, the majority of the songs were meh at best and the quality of vocals were questionable.

Are you seriously commenting that the song is bad because it is outdated? You can say that you don't like it and it is respectable, but good music does not depend on fashions, nor on being the most creative person of current sounds. Music is art. Celine, Whitney, Edith Piaf, Abba... am I old-fashioned for listening to them. I can understand that this is opinion can be said by an 18-year-old guy , but that it is said by 40-year-olds and it is quite strange. As if the festival was only for 18 year olds. Those young people will grow up and younger people will come and tell them that what theylisten to is ridiculous and they will understand everything. By the way, Loreen Tatto's song sounded just like Euphoria 11 years later and she won. It was not said that her song was old-fashioned. Ah ok, She is Loreen and she is Swedish.

It simply doesn´t matter. Regardless of who Spain sends to Eurovision they will never get a fair shot, Why? I simply don´t know. Chanel was disliked from the beginning at home and abroad, but not even with her brilliant performance she was granted the win. Blanca Paloma gave voice and a staging that was worthy of it, the song wasn´t all that but still finished very poorly. So no matter what Spain brings they will never be treated fairly. So it doesn´t have anything with liking the country, it´s culture, food, cities etc.. I think William is confusing things here. So I say to spanish fans, bring whatever and whomever you feel to Eurovision, be happy, enjoy it, celebrate it and who that fck cares what the so called experts think of your song. At the end of the day what matters how much you enjoy your song when you hear. My Eurovision playlists haver 80% of spanish entries and I´m not even spanish lol .

@@Jazaraca Yo la veo más cerca de Blanca Paloma y Nebulosa, ahora con los cambios que insinúa que va a hacer con ese pedazo escenario y el presupuesto que manejan para Eurovisión, lo del Benidorm Fest se queda minúsculo, y si a mi no gustándome me pica la curiosidad y eso también es bueno mantener la intriga hasta el próximo 17 de mayo, de Eurovisión puedes esperar un nada o un todo en un chasquido de dedos.
