For those who want to know benchmark numbers on the golems without adding any extra boons to myself or extra conditions to the golem, here are the results: On a WEAK golem: it did 15.8K
I appreciate these one-man-army type bruiser builds with lots of survivability and equal parts damage. Maximizing DPS is great on paper, but I feel like people undervalue survivability. DPS while downed/dead is DPS you're not doing.
Thank you, been following you for a while now, enjoy your builds and they really do work and help. Cheers :) I prefer testing in the open world over the test golem... the golem doesn't hit back nor force you to move out of "stupid".
Hit that Like Button guys, well deserved!! Wow Johny you are a busy little uploader, yet another great Reaper build to try. I'm currently using a full Lifesteal Reaper build in OW and it's great for tougher fights but less damage as it obviously centers around sustain. This will be my 3rd build template 100% as I have been slowly replacing my Exotic Celestial gear with Ascended Berserkers gear (Zojja's), so far I have 3 pcs of Armor & 2 Trinkets so abit to go. Thankyou GTJ for the time you put into your videos as I know it's a labor of love & it's very muchly Appreciated by all. Lastly, I find it funny that your Char looks like an angel but than turns into the Reaper of Death 😂😅 Ty & Tc my friend. EDIT: I forgot to ask, What cursor settings are you using to get that Yellow crosshair that's fixed to the center of your screen??
Thank you so much for the kind words! I use "Action Camera" and there are visual options you can adjust for it from the "General Options" tab, then press on "Action Camera Reticle Settings", and from there you can choose the color and shape
Great guide, I’m new to the game and thanks to you I was able to pick up reaper and run around with it like I knew what I was doing! Could you make a guide for berserker warrior for pve, no one goes into detail like you do in guide, I even learned more about the trading post thanks to this video
Welcome to GW2! I'm very happy to hear the guide was helpful to you :) I plan on making a Berserker build for PvE for sure, but I am not sure when I'll have the time for it.
Thank you Johny. I'm still using your build with Blood trait line, and happy to try this out too, but I'm doing lots of convergences, and there only seem to be big bosses in there. Is there something else I can use instead of grasp and rise, in this case? I can certainly use them in Open World content perfectly. Love your builds and theory crafting is sooo detailed and makes it so easy to use. Thanks again, Johny! 🥰
Glad to know the build is working well for you! For convergence I'd recommend the following: 1- For more DPS use "Well of Suffering" and "Well of Darkness" 2- For more Boon Strips use "Corrupt Boon" and "Nothing Can Save You" 3- For more sustain use more minions
@@GamingTutorialswithJohny ohhh thanks sooo much for your answer. That's what I thought I might try. Its what I have with the blood trait. I was thinking of You are all Weaklings because of the Might, but I see that Nothing Can Save You gives more chill. I am going to try it and let you know how much fun I have with it.....thanks again Johny 🥰
I took Spectral Grasp off of a build and I'm thinking it's time for me to put it back, esp for big content. It's not on the tooltip specifically but, per the wiki, Spectral Grasp does more than we might realize. It does 5 pulls on use and, if you are in the hitbox of a defiant mob, all five pulls can hit that boss. Each pull is 150 breakbar damage and it's possible for all 5 to hit a single target for very significant breakbar on your foe. Since there are always people who have already burned all their CC outside of the need moment or who have weak CC in their builds, being able to pop Spectral Grasp and Chilled to the Bone of Charge! on the Flesh Golem makes your reaper a major player against a boss' defiance bar. Each one also grants 15% Life Force so that adds up too as Johny mentioned in the video. It's also adding more Chill for your Reaper to exploit. So it's a very easy skill to love.
These items are not sheep indeed. I love your accent and it gave me a few good giggles thanks for that. No it's not mockery and yes I am not native English speaker myself
Gosh I love reaper builds! 🤩Thanks so much for this one, will try it out asap! I often find myself in underwater combat in PvE (for example when killing my 10 daily kraits as of lately), so could you please also advise on the best underwater utility skills to equip?
I hope you like it when you try it :) Here is the build with added water skills: gw2skills.net/editor/?PSwAExzlJkwwCbMtttYWZlecXlNdA-DSIYRU7fIBKFiQFVhA0s3GKQA7h3h+MAVA-e

Thank you or the guide, I am 5 weeks into the game and it greatly helped me to complete the core game and Path of Fire. I do not understand taking Putrid Defense over Flesh of the Master, however. Where is all this poison supposed to come from? I have looked everything over and I don't see one thing that inflicts poison. I do not qualify for the use of one-handed swords, is that where the poison is supposed to come from?
Welcome to GW2! I'm very glad this build helped you as much :) Your Pison comes from Reaper Shroud skill #4, which you should be using as often as possible.
@@GamingTutorialswithJohny Thanks for the reply, I forgot to look at the shroud skills. I have been trying every version of Reaper build that i can find and this one works the best.
Hi Johny - thanks for another very thorough guide! Honest question - what benefit does the Relic of Midnight Kings gives to the character itself if its grants might and fury to the allies by description? Are you saying my character is also affected? I tried it in quite a few fights and never saw the relic icon appear on the buff line indicating it is activated. While I am waiting for your response I switched to Wayfinder relic for speed, replaced Signet of Locust with You Are All Weeklings and switched from Chilling Nova to Augury of Death for extra heals (running four shouts now). Do you think its a viable tweak of your build? Thanks so much for all you hard work, we really appreciate it!
Relic of Midnight does apply its effects to you as well :) In fact, most of the traits, skills, and items that say they apply their affect to allies will also include you
They're both equally good! The Double Swords Reaper build you're talking about provides a little more sustain and still very decent damage. But this most recent one provides overall more damage, and still overall enough sustain to handle most open world content.
Hey there! Awesome video! I love how in depth you explained everything. I am coming back to a game after a long break and decided to try necro. Do you think I will have an easier time with story and open world by using reaper or by using your scourge build from a few months ago? Good luck with the channel!
Hello :) Sorry but I'm not sure what do you mean by baby skill point. As for the specializations and elite and entire builds, I talk about it in details starting from 00:27
You can only put sigils on weapons. But generally speaking, the default sigils and runes that comes with any gear you buy from the trading post are not a good fit, so you can safely replace them with the recommended option from the guides
Coming back to GW2 after about a year break and want to switch my necro from Scourge/Harbinger to Reaper for a change. I have two options for equipment that I already own - full Viper's ascended armor and weapons or full Celestial exotic (from boosting at max level just to get the gear). I also have many other ascended trinket options including Berserker's in my stash. Would you recommend going for condi Reaper with the Viper's or Celestial + Berserker weapons/trinkets as more of a tanky power build? This is for solo open world mainly. I also wouldn't mind adding some minions - are minion builds still decent for open world?
Welcome back to GW2! The full Viper's set for condi Reaper would be great for damage. However, if you want a tankier build, Celestial with Berserker weapons and trinkets can be very effective in solo play, and I recommend that option. As for minions, they can still provide decent support in open world content.
Wow nice build, can't wait to try it out when my Necro has finished the Reaper skillline. What are your opnions on the Spite vs Death Magic? It seems Offensive vs Defensive?
I don't use any addons. In the "General Options" tab, look for "Cursor Contrast" and it will chance the cursor's size and visibility. Right below it you'll also find "Action Camera Reticle Options" if you use action camera like I do and want to change its cursor settings
Both builds are very good and a little different, so I'd choose the one you think you'll enjoy its playstyle more. I personally prefer the spear version and it's what I use on my own Reaper. But I also know a lot of people who don't like spear on Reaper as much.
So I play reaper power greatsword. Do I need to turn off my auto targeting? (Not auto attack) Or should I keep it on? Seems like if I don't use it the rotation dies after whatever I'm killing does. It doesn't put the skill that's in action locked onto the next enemy. I had alot of people say i needed to get used to it off but it helps me clear pve trash mobs faster.
Good job! It's very useful for many builds. As for the Relic of Zakiros, it's not a good option with this Reaper build as you don't apply that much Fury at all

Exactly. Spite will give you more damage, but then you lose a lot of sustain

Yes, and it wasn't worth it

I think the Soul Eating trait change is great. If you needed extra sustain, just switch to that trait and you'll be fine.

Power Infusions

The easiest way to buy the Deadeye runes is from the Trading Post
