I do like that Sage acknowledges that the fault comes in the anime ADAPTATION into a shortened OVA format (and a lazy one at that) rather than the story itself in manga or the story in and of itself. As a CLAMP fan, even with all the CLAMP cliches and foibles, all I can say is thanks, Sage!
I believe this anime would've had good potential if it were more based on the original manga instead of starting and ending right in the middle. I agree about the voice acting which is why I find the Japanese/english subtitled version or the UK dub easier to watch....and yes. I am a Clamp fan and Rg Veda is one of my favorite mangas. The artwork is gorgeous, you find so much more about the characters and their histories, there's much more emotion and the story itself is sad, but very exciting at the same time. It kept me interested and still does. This is why I can appreciate the works of Clamp. Personally, I think their way of story telling is really beautiful. Just thought I'd throw it out there. :)

Man! One of the best manga ive ever read in the 90s-it was in Japanese at first but certainly it tells you that Clamp were the best authors around! I worshiped RG Veda and clamps other works. Kaori Yuki is another amazing author-angel sanctuary for me. Today's anime is too predictable and superficially flat and aimless. I miss the good stuff and authors. Their work use to be captivating. But I certainly love to see some diversity at least. Looks too much of the same , and predictable. Bland, bland baby!

I remember reading the first volume of RG Veda and having no idea what was happening, and then I never read the rest of it. Also I'm sorry if someone mentioned this already, but I remember reading somewhere - either in the Anime Encyclopedia or in the RG Veda manga - that the font they used for the title in Japan threw off the translators and they didn't read there was an "i" in the title. I don't know if that's for real, especially if that info came from the Anime Encyclopedia because that was wrong about a lot of other stuff (did you know Yugi's dad got reincarnated as a pegasus in YuGiOh? Well apparently he did according to that thing!)

Man! One of the best manga ive ever read in the 90s-it was in Japanese at first but certainly it tells you that Clamp were the best authors around! I worshiped RG Veda and clamps other works. Kaori Yuki is another amazing author-angel sanctuary for me. Today's anime is too predictable and superficially flat and aimless.
I miss the good stuff and authors. Their work use to be captivating. But I certainly love to see some diversity at least. Looks too much of the same , and predictable. Bland, bland baby!

Fun plot twists in the manga: Ashura is genderless and takes on the appearance of a young man at the end of the series (at which point he is revealed as the god of war and attempts to commit mass slaughter); the blond king dude was actually totally ghey for the dark-haired king he killed (and then ate, yay, cannibalism) woooooo, those wacky bishounenz.

Love Clamp and RG Veda, I just wish we had a series. The OVA has some really great moments but random moments does not a cohesive story make...

I remember reading the first volume of RG Veda and having no idea what was happening, and then I never read the rest of it.
Also I'm sorry if someone mentioned this already, but I remember reading somewhere - either in the Anime Encyclopedia or in the RG Veda manga - that the font they used for the title in Japan threw off the translators and they didn't read there was an "i" in the title. I don't know if that's for real, especially if that info came from the Anime Encyclopedia because that was wrong about a lot of other stuff (did you know Yugi's dad got reincarnated as a pegasus in YuGiOh? Well apparently he did according to that thing!)
