don’t mind me getting caught up on my watch later playlist and bingeing your videos 🫠 still loved hearing your thoughts on intermezzo even though i enjoyed it!! need to get to some more han kang, i liked greek lessons and her winning the nobel prize has me curiousssss
This is so true ... I would love to live as the main character inside My Year of Rest and Relaxation for the next 4 years... And since I can't, you're last thoughts are definitely how I will be surviving too 💔
Oof may i direct you straight to rick bragg’s the best cook in the world. It’s long but it’s like a memoir with recipes and lots of southern working class stories
Thank you for the review for Interview with a Vampire. I read it (audio) and I just bought the physical copy for a reread. You’ve shed soooo much light on it. It makes so much more sense (I’m def old school and didn’t catch the theme). Never saw the video. Thanks again!
Ahh this makes me so happy to hear and why I make my videos!! I feel like the hollywood movie did so much damage to the story that’s genuinely so tragic yet so common - like most ppl think of brad pitt brooding but iwtv is really about themes of domestic violence and a damaged childhood.
I'm so glad I found your channel! I felt very meh about Intermezzo as well and felt like a minority in this one, it was just exhausting to get through. And yes, I felt you on the intro with how much real life has kind of put me in a blah mood too and feel a slump hitting me late in the year. Great vid!
Thank you! Im loling because i wrote a quick goodreads review just my initial reaction for intermezzo and it’s racking up the most likes ive ever had on that site. So we are not alone!
So glad I found your channel because I have yet to see someone else who is a Tom perrotta fan! I read the leftovers this year after watching the show last year and it is now one of my favorite books of all time in addition to one of my favorite shows of all time. I think he is such a talented writer and is really good at doing character studies
@yenasung I'm excited to hear your thoughts! The leftovers will definitely be on my favorites of the year for books I've read and I'm so happy about it.
Wahh it came outta nowhere and knocked me off my feet, one of those books i clutched in my hungry little claws as i read it voraciously emitting strong DONT BOTHER ME IM READING energy to all around me ❤️
I’m not a Rooney fan either but I was second guessing myself and thought maybe id try intermezzo, but you reinforced my current thoughts on her stuff and I think I’ll save myself the trouble and just accept that I am not meant to be a Rooney Stan
Great selection I always buy at least one book you mentioned. For the election, for my sanity I completely ignore the outcome, I still vote but i have no illusions anymore that the outcome has positive effects on my life, I have to live with it. Where I live for the last 20 years it was a choice between the plague or Cholera 😢
I read my first Dolly book this year (Good Material) and it really worked for me. Bodes well that you enjoyed Ghosts too. I haven't heard a lot of ppl talk about Stranger in the Woods!! I liked that author's more recent release. I'm also not the biggest fan of Sally Rooney so I don't think I get the Intermezzo hype, not sure if I will ever read it... and the Hobbit 💓 Random question, but do you have a favorite cookbook??? I feel like you would know some really good ones. Would you ever do a fav cookbook video? Thanksgiving camping tradition
Omgg i should do a fav cookbook vid! Im gonna do daily vlogmas 💀🫠 so if i run out of things to talk about maybe that’ll be the topic du jour lol. But def ina garten’s parties! and family style, and breakfast lunch tea from the rose bakery in paris have been long loved favs. I like the art thief. I LOVE stranger in the woods. I want to read any and all bios of ppl who live in the margins of society that michael finkel writes about!!
I also am not seeing it about Sally Rooney. I've only read Normal People but it was a huge let down... especially for all the hype around it! "Meh" is exactly how I would describe it. Glad to hear your thoughts on Intermezzo and thank you for helping me decide not to read it / give into the hype again :)
I'm so glad I'm not the only non-Rooney fan haha I want to be wowed but alas I am not. Still on the fence about reading Intermezzo, but it would also just to be part of the conversation.
The intermezzo drag! It’s actually my favorite Rooney haha, but I can’t tell if I just think so by mental mathing her progress as a writer. Finally she feels like she’s latching the existential onto something (unlike BWWAY), getting warmer to whatever I think her potential is. And Peter was my fav! I like her men characters more than her women characters, they seem more interesting. I just need her to finally only write about one character for her next book!
Omg what an idea - if she were to zero in on one character maybe it’ll finally put the focus on the self as part of a larger whole. I did prefer the ivan chapters mostly because i kept thinking of my younger brother in law and wondering if he harbors similar grievances against my husband and i (probably).
You’re selling me on Ina! Claudia from IWTV ❤ I just purchased Eileen and hope to get to it soon. I liked The Stranger in the Woods too. The Hobbit! ❤❤ Great video.
Your October books have been a welcome respite from this election shit show that has left me painfully pessimistic. Hating on Charlottes Moss felt soooo right! ❤
fantastic video! like you, i looooove doing memoirs on audiobook, when the author typically narrates, it adds such a profound layer to the memoir, i'm curious about the Ina Garten one! i also read Knife on audio, one thing that struck me is how much Rushdie's partner was an emotional rock for him through his recovery, and how rather one-dimensionally he portrayed her. omg ALSO, i discovered MYORAR and Otessa Moshfegh through the Libby app, I basically placed a hold for any Julia Whalen audiobook narrated by her, and this was definitely trippy going into it with no context hahah. i rewatch the LOTR series around the holiday break every year! ugh this makes me want to reread the hobbit hahaha i'm so impressed you filmed this the day after the election -- i alternated between a catatonic state and all the stages of grief :( i've been throwing myself into reading, connecting with friends on goodreads and youtube, and cooking (i see on your GR you're going through stephen colbert's cookbook, would love to hear your thoughts in the future!) fantastic video, subscribed!
HA yes that is such a man thing to do and why i feel confident i don’t need to read more rushdie. Omg moshfegh found via whelan what a shock 🥲 i cherish my annual lotr + the hobbit extended version rewatches and look forward to my future senior home watch parties 👵🏼 the colberts’ marital relationship seems so sweet and wholesome. Holding onto that feeling!! But most of all thank you for this deliciously long comment i love it!!!!
I DNFd The Whalebone Theatre. It was 550 pages. After 100 pages I thought I was safe to read the synopsis on the back. Not a single thing had even taken place! It was all spoilers. It annoyed me. I pushed on another 50 pages but that section was more boring than the beginning. I just couldn’t. It was for a bookclub so I flipped to the last 50 pages to see how it ended. It convinced me that it wasn’t a book for me.
There’s a kind of magic that happens in thick lengthy plotty books where you just live with the characters and spend time with them and when im enjoying that, that’s a special book for me. Sorry that wasn’t the case for you! I loved reading about the shitty parents and seeing how all the kids coped with them and then their shitty war torn world.
"perhaps... maybe... we?" lolll 💀 i've been meaning to read han kang for a few years already, and def the nobel win has brought this desire back to the forefront of my brain. i suspect i will start with one of her novels, but i am curious about the white book
The white book wasn’t bad! Just not the right book for the occasion lol. I started with the vegetarian and was moved enough to continue on to human acts which left me quite devastated! Lol im so ready to move on from self absorbed rooney characters!! 😤
😲😲 ive been consistently meh on rooney lol, except for her short mr salary - that i really enjoyed. I can only handle sustained teasing in short story format.
faux books as a side table??? EMBARRASSING appreciate the thoughts on the Rooney! i think her next will be my make-it-or-break-it moment to decide to read future works! the study on wide age gap relationships IS getting exhausting. also i had no idea there was an original text for Little Children! and better than the movie??? i must run to it!!!
Sigh i know im gonna keep reading rooney whether i like it or not she has been ORDAINED! As the voice of our generation! And we will all have our OPINIONS! Yes run to little children! I had no idea tom perrotta had such a chokehold on hollywood during the 00s!
“Being shanked by Debbie Downer” 😂😂 I just literally laughed out loud in the library listening to this with my earbuds in
😅
Agree on Jeff Goldblum acing role of Zeus - I’m currently on episode 6 and really enjoying it . Appreciate the video and added some to my TBR 📚🪱💔🤍💙
He is probably the only reason to watch that zany show 😂 thank you! 🩷
I loved the show so much more than expected, I especially wanted to spend more time in the afterlife world, loved those characters.
you flaming that interior design book is me 1000% 😂
This is the only correct response 💯
don’t mind me getting caught up on my watch later playlist and bingeing your videos 🫠 still loved hearing your thoughts on intermezzo even though i enjoyed it!! need to get to some more han kang, i liked greek lessons and her winning the nobel prize has me curiousssss
Definitely start with her fiction like the vegetarian and human acts! I need to read greek lessons.
This is so true ... I would love to live as the main character inside My Year of Rest and Relaxation for the next 4 years... And since I can't, you're last thoughts are definitely how I will be surviving too 💔
❤️
Glad I found your channel! Had not heard of Rick Bragg, so will look into his work. Right there w you on election😢
Oof may i direct you straight to rick bragg’s the best cook in the world. It’s long but it’s like a memoir with recipes and lots of southern working class stories
I’m still holding out hope that my kids will one day, hop on the LOTR train with me, glad you got your kiddo onboard through the hobbit gateway
🤞🏻🤞🏻🫡

So glad I found your channel because I have yet to see someone else who is a Tom perrotta fan! Omggg i didnt know he wrote that too!! Need to get the book now thanks!! Definitely a master of character focused stories 💯
@yenasung I'm excited to hear your thoughts! The leftovers will definitely be on my favorites of the year for books I've read and I'm so happy about it.
Yes so happy you loved the whalebone theatre. Hope you stay well ♥️
Wahh it came outta nowhere and knocked me off my feet, one of those books i clutched in my hungry little claws as i read it voraciously emitting strong DONT BOTHER ME IM READING energy to all around me ❤️
"no. no!" over the low res pic has me giggling like a schoolgirl. i love when you talk about interior design books, i almost bought one you mentioned
Certainly don’t buy the charlotte moss! 🙅🏻♀️ i love making you giggle!
You really sold me on the Ina Garten memoir!
It’s so good!! Try to read in audio!!
I’m not a Rooney fan either but I was second guessing myself and thought maybe id try intermezzo, but you reinforced my current thoughts on her stuff and I think I’ll save myself the trouble and just accept that I am not meant to be a Rooney Stan
I accept this about myself yet i still persist in reading her books because i wanna know what all the cool kids are talking about 🫠
Great selection I always buy at least one book you mentioned. For the election, for my sanity I completely ignore the outcome, I still vote but i have no illusions anymore that the outcome has positive effects on my life, I have to live with it. Lol yea if you don’t have/want to spend the time on 500pgs of her self absorbed characters going wah wah about their lives, you’re good to skip! 👍🏻
I'm so glad I'm not the only non-Rooney fan haha I want to be wowed but alas I am not. Still on the fence about reading Intermezzo, but it would also just to be part of the conversation.
That’s a valid reason as any to read lol
I'm new to your channel but count me in to stay. "This was kind of like being shanked by Debbie Downer" .... best book review I've ever heard!
🤣🙂 hi and welcome! 👋🏻
The intermezzo drag! It’s actually my favorite Rooney haha, but I can’t tell if I just think so by mental mathing her progress as a writer. Hope you enjoy Ina! Eileen will make you gag, from the patriarchy, but hope you enjoy that too 😅 claudia 💔
Interview with the Vampire took me back a couple decades in a very good way, ….yay! The Hobbit…what a special book.
Lol i tend to live under a rock and then read something super popular and go omg wow has anyone heard of this hobbit?! It’s great! 😂
RUclips suggested your video and they got it right. Subscribed
Thank you! 🩷
Your October books have been a welcome respite from this election shit show that has left me painfully pessimistic. Hating on Charlottes Moss felt soooo right! ❤
Lol unfortunately charlotte had to be my (justified) punching bag 😅

Jeff goldblum as Zeus was fantastic
Perfection! 💯
Yes I really didn't like Intermezzo either! (and I gave Conversations With Friends 5⭐)
😲😲 ive been consistently meh on rooney lol, except for her short mr salary - that i really enjoyed. I can only handle sustained teasing in short story format.
I clicked on this because I need validation for my Rooney ambivalence so I feel less alone for not getting the hype! thanks 🤗
Ha here to help in any capacity!
I really enjoy this video -it's the first of yours I've seen. Yeah, the election results sure can take a hit on the immune system.
Thank you and lol!
faux books as a side table??? EMBARRASSING
appreciate the thoughts on the Rooney! i think her next will be my make-it-or-break-it moment to decide to read future works! the study on wide age gap relationships IS getting exhausting.
