That clutch disc and adjusting plate that you first ordered are for dual mass flywheel. The M42 engine comes with both, depending of the year and accessories. The disc for single mass usually has 4 springs to attenuate socks that engine induce to transmission and the plate does not have self adjusting. In the dual-mass setup does not have the springs because attenuation is made by dual-mass flywheel. I did the same mistake when i ordered mine but figured out and ordered the good one after. Although I'm not sure if the "single mass" option exist on 6 speed transmissions. A quick tip for self adjusting clutch plates, they can be reset and mounted without the "special" tool like in this video: ruclips.net/video/4wrwGsC43WM/видео.html And another tip that I will do on mine if i ever put a turbo on it. It's easy to use the M40 intake body because is round and a standard hose can be used instead of expensive welding to make the oval shape round. Also it has a single flap instead of 2, less complicated. In NA engine the 2 flap is better but in turbocharged I think is more trouble than worth. Good work, i can wait to see some skids :D
hey skudak i follow you since first m42 build video thanks for this big information about the build, i will start at this winter 2020 the same project, do you know how much hp do you has now? greets from bavaria the home of e30
Wtf I'm in shock, how you occurred make a catch can with a winshield cleaning liquid :) holy god, well in a future report the results, for me,brutal bro. First start is clean,no cracklings, all perfect,incredible...
Gtreat job man, i am following along with your build. Can i ask, why is the O2 sensor so high up clost to turbo and are you running a second O2 down the line?
Honestly, I didn't make the downpipe so I am not sure. I will say though, that it makes it extremely easy to wire and remove if I need so that might be why. I am only running one sensor at the moment
Heyyy. I saw you are using 6sp gearbox. 6 speed has shorter primary shaft, so it dosent get in to your crank bearing ;) i hope you mede an extension. I have the same m42+box from e90/e46 2.0 diesel 6sp. Im using m20 flywheel lathed to 240mm and same clutch disk, ant box slines goes only about 6mm into disk :) all problems are solved already.
I actually just finished this up today, got my exhaust put together, and with the engine quieter I could hear the trans making noise. Had to machine an extension for the bearing! I'm behind on videos but I'll show what I did in the next one, thanks!
great build! I'm thinking of refreshing the motor just like you and putting a gtx2860 gen II with a standalone ecu and running low boost. 0.7bar. Any thoughts?
I think running that pressure is very well proven to be fine for a stock M42. Jake from Classic Daily makes a kit for the m42 that most people run at .7bar with the stock ECU and love it. I was going to go with that but then I found this setup for a great deal so I jumped on it

👌👌👌👌👌👌 respect
Nice build man

Nice work bro, bur why and m42 ? Maybe m50b25? I ask you cause i have an e36 with a m44 and i would like to put a turbo on it ?
Thanks and good luck.
Nice job man from where you bought your turbo maniford?
I bought it used, it's from a company called 666 fab that is no longer around unfortunately

Cool project! I'm thinking also of making one for my m tech 2. Do you have by chance the list of materials?
Thanks! 😉

Shaft is shorter because 2.0d 6sp has bearing in dmf, not crank.

im sure its been answered already, but may i ask why you decided the m42 was the better to build then any other offered motor??
Nice intercooler location fits nicely with the m42 layout. Do you have and Instagram for my to follow?
Thanks! Yeah my Instagram is @ skudak
@@skudak got it
what trans is it your using? 6 speed , from what doner car? i want 6 speeds also.
If was from an E60 I believe
Great build :) What car gearbox and starter are from?
E46 m3 i believe
@@skudak and it botls on straight on m42 block? :o
@@vjerankladic2370 yep! Same bolt pattern
What your prefer man? M44 turbo or m42 turbo? Or its just same?
What kit are you using?
what is that intake? doesn't look like mine on my m44
It's an M42, little different than an m44
Any modifications to fit that starter?
Nope, bolted right up!
what ecu do you run?
Haltech PS1000
