I forgot to mention, the logging bridge will get cross-bracing between the bents later, first I have to paint and decorate the river, or else the cross bracing may get in the way. Also keep in mind, even when I "complete" a project, its not actually complete because the layout is not yet finished. I can't weather the buildings until I've decided what colors I want to use for the ground on the layout. Also in the future, all the buildings will be lit up with lights, so little lamps and things I plan to add to structures like the Engine House, haven't been put in. The Engine House will also be furnished in the future with tools and equipment.
So cute... I love it! I hear you about the cuts. I am having a similar issue with my kitchen reno! No matter how much you measure, it always ends up too short or too long.
The shed looks really nice. Kinda self-made, but the wood gives it a realitic touch and the roof looks good too, it fits together nicely, although not aged with dirt. I just dont understand why your tracks have holes in them, on normal tracks, you dont have those holes. Other than that, good progress and enjoy building it. For the "tunnel" it's good to have it accessible, but also make sure that the trains dont fall off on the edge. I also learned that the hard way, so maybe mount a plexiglass to the spaces where it can get close to the edge.
The tracks have holes because that's where the rails join. Before I fully ballast everything I will place extra track ties in areas that have no track ties. You can see how I did that for the new bridge. After applying the glue, I later came in, and inserted extra track ties. Yeah I plan to add a removable plexiglass around the whole layout in the future. Also, keep in mind, even when I "complete" a certain project, its not fully complete because the layout isn't finished. For instance, I can't weather the buildings yet with "dirt" because I haven't yet decided what the ground color will be around the layout, and when I finally decide, I will need to buy weathering powders that are the same color.
Hey Alex, the Titanic 401 demo looks like it got a big update and it’s getting the unreal engine 5 on March 3rd marking it a 2.0 version. You may wanna check this out! The update will be bringing us 50% of the ship now! With the engine room, cafe kitchen, lighting system is beyond better. It’s more realistic
Yeah I've been in contact with the team at Titanic Honor and Glory. But the demo won't be in Unreal 5, it's still Unreal 4, they just made improvements to the model. The finalized game will be in Unreal 5. And they are going to let me play the demo a week before it is released. EDIT: I'm sorry, you're right, today they announced it will be in Unreal Engine 5.
@@AlextheHistorian oh sick man! What’s the team’s email so I can email them a few questions I may have about the game when we get to the finalizing cuz I’d love to see passengers start getting put into the game next. So with the ship being 50% done in a month, what areas do u know of that the team has told u that we will be able to explore big time
That's awesome job you did. The logging train is neat. I having a hard time trying to find a business that would do a 3d ho model of C&NW Train Depot. So I might have to construct a Depot that looks like the Depot I want to build. May I ask what kind of wood did you use to make the train shed and the logging bridge?
To be honest, I don't know, I bought it at a model railroad convention from a very nice older gentleman. I think you can buy something like it on Amazon as scale model lumber /wood.
Alex you are using scaled down Post - Frame Construction on the Engine House, correct? One thing I have found out is that the 1/4 inch coffee stir sticks measure out to be an O Scale 3x12 boards. I have several of these collected already. I am thinking of building a frame similar to a standard stick built house for a false front store for the small town of my layout.
The Engine House had a very inaccurate version of a post and frame design. I only needed a shape that held the windows and doors in place while I glued the boards to it, but from a distance it looks like somewhat accurate framing.
Yes scale ballast. When I worked on the bridge abutment, you can see the final step was adding that red ballast, and I mentioned that later on, the whole layout will be ballasted.
Because it's not possible, the track would need to be longer and there wouldn't be enough room to fit a building there. The current engine house was already over the edge of the cliff.
@@AlextheHistorian Have you seen the Trumpeter 1/200 model of the Titanic? I saw that the Titanic Honour & Glory team advised on the details - did they do a good job?

So cool! Love all of this & the skills, the team work & the goods ‘train’! 😆
This turned out so well. I loved being able to watch it all come together. Its so fun to create things.
Thank you!

Looks great! Thanks for taking us along for the process.
Yoooo that roof!! Great job. Holy moly.
Thanks!
Very cool, I wish I did not have so many hobbies. My radio station takes up most of my time. I do enjoy scale modeling.
Beautiful Alex! My favorite of your videos besides Disney History!
Thanks!
@@AlextheHistorian you’re welcome sir! I wish I had your patience!
This looks amazing, Alex!
Thank you!

The bridge looks nice. Are you going to use scale ballast when you get to that stage or just whatever fits?
Yes scale ballast. When I worked on the bridge abutment, you can see the final step was adding that red ballast, and I mentioned that later on, the whole layout will be ballasted.
Do you plan to add some cross bracing on the logging bridge?? to resist lateral load?
Yes, but I have to wait until after I paint the riverbed or else the cross braces will get in the way.
Challenging. But we’ll done.
Thank you!
Are you going to weather the track one you ballast or after?
Yes I plan to buy special track weathering pens to do that
May I ask the dimensions of the engine shed?
It is 11 inches in length, 6.5 inches wide, and stands 5.5 inches tall.
@Alex the Historian Thanks!
So why not move one track over a smidgen ????
Because it's not possible, the track would need to be longer and there wouldn't be enough room to fit a building there. The current engine house was already over the edge of the cliff.
Model the queen Mary..N scale
That would be too difficult and take my whole life to do.

Yeah I've seen it. I kinda want it but I don't have that much money, nor space in my apartment lol!
