what i really like about japanese desserts is that it really suits my taste very well. Not too sweet, soft, light and very pleasing to the eyes as well.
so delicious looking red velvet cake is my favorite! I love your recipe you are the only person I have seen do it with vinegar and not just food colouring.
Thanks so much for this recipe! Every red velvet cake recipe i have tried has been a complete disaster apart from this one. The cakes were a lovely maroon colour and they were beautifully moist. I will use this as my red velvet cake recipe for always and forever. Thanks Ochi :) x
You are probably the first person I've seen to using JUST your hand to mix not electric mixers and stuff, Good for you :D !! I can't wait to try this soon looks good ;)
Gosh, thank you so much! Your recipes are always so easy to follow with easy ingredients AND EXTREMELY GOOD OUTCOMES. Ugh, it's just perfect. THANK YOU
Have friends visiting from Japan tomorrow and was going to make something sweet to pick at. This just might be the ticket. Hope you are well. And glad you enjoyed your time in the big apple... that's NYC in case you didn't know.
Glad to see your new video. I'm not usually a big fan of cupcakes, but this looks like a nice recipe. Thanks for sharing. The big thumb up is so cute. By the way, that's a cool top.
Oh I LITERALLY LOVE THIS RECIPE!!! You are Amazing! the Best EVER on You Tube! Your tutorial are so clean and easy to understand! Thank You! I'll try them for Christmas!!!!
This looks delicious!! I use to always back biscuits and cookies xDDD I'mma try a different variety and go with cakes this time!! Your videos are so easy to understand too!!
new York is so beautiful this time of the year. beautiful cupcakes! you can also put italian meringue if you like ir mousse. love your channel and ideas. thanks!
Oh wow! I really appreciate the effort you must have gone through to edit the video! I really love the editing cause it creates the "atmosphere" when I'm watching your videos. Thanks so much. Also, I was wondering why you added vinegar to the milk, haha. Was it to make a buttermilk substitute? I hear people put lemon juice in, so is this something similar? :3
start with two teaspoons of red liquid food coulouring. for this size recipe it should be close to enough. it might call for an additional teaspoonful (which would then bring up the total used to one tablespoonful). the type of cocoa powder you use will also impact the overall coulour. when it comes to using any type of food coulouring, especially in recipes where other combined ingredients impact the coulour, it is best to start with less and slowly add more if needed.
I subscribed today. I made your carrot cake recipe 2 days ago it's a good recipe. Especially for someone like me who discovered today that I'm pre-diabetic. I think I was eating too much food that was Paula Deen inspired. Your food is way better, I will try to eat it in moderation.
Sorry to ask again but I really love your videos and I was wondering if you could make age dashi sorry for incorrect spelling if you don't know what I mean I think it's a tofu dish thanks I hope u can make P.S once again love your videos
Cake flour is plain flour, this means u would need to add baking soda + powder to it. Self rising flour is flour that has added baking soda, this can also be used for cakes just add less baking soda . Hope this helps =]
i reckon you can but you have to combine it with the wet ingredients first and perhaps compromise the increase in wet ingredients with a little more dry ingredients for balance.. Alternatively you can pour red food colouring on a non stick surface, nuke it or place it in the oven, and just scrape it off to be used as a colouring powder.
I'm quite confused with the measurements. So as for 1 cup of sifted cake flour is 95g. Do I follow yours for 250g? And for 1 cup of icing sugar is 115g. Do I follow yours for 250g of icing sugar?
@ladyjane0609 You can substitute lemon juice for the vinegar. The important thing is that the milk is slightly acidic, because it starts a chemical reaction with the baking powder that changes the flavor of the cocoa powder slightly. You can also use buttermilk instead.
You are absolutely correct, you said "here are the ingredients" and ingredients is plural, so it should be "are," not "is." You didn't say do it wrong at all!
Hi. I'm a very loyal fan. I watch all of your videos and are always inspired by them. Your cupcake batter in this video looks so smooth and rich. Mine was sadly not to beautiful. ;P
Yeah... I don't have red food coloring POWDER. But I do do have LIQUID red food coloring so can I use that instead?? And tbh I think the cream cheese frosting will ALWAYS be better than whipped cream frosting cuz u know red velvet cupcake always always have to go with cream cheese frosting. It's a fact but ur video helped ALOT
Hi. If I want to make red velvet cake instead of cupcake, can I use the same amount of ingedients? and instead of using cupcake mold, I'll just use round cake pan?
@mana chanchi I'm from the UK too:) I think you just use plain flour since there's baking powder and baking soda and I've watched other videos and they're all plain flour:)
I can't find red food coloring powder anywhere in sf so if I were to use liquid how much should I use? Any when do I put the liquid food coloring? Thank u!,
Hi Ochikeron! I would be so thankful if you answer! I was wondering if I can use all purpose flour instead of cake flour, and which is the diameter of the forms of your cupcake pan? If mine is bigger do I need more time to cook my cupcakes? I'm always afraid to burn them or to not cook them enough! Please take care and have a great day!
I feel stupid for asking these questions but if someone can answer me that would be great...cake flour- in the UK we dont have cake flour (at least I dont think we do), would it be self-raising flour? and all so i thought baking powder and baking soda was the same thing...god i feel so silly but i would love to try and make these they look so~~ good!
Plain flour will work fine, but you can make a substitute: remove 2 tablespoons of the flour from the cup and put in 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (corn flour). Then sift as in the recipe. Makes the cake a little finer texture.
hello, ochikeron! i'd like to ask what will be the ratio of the food color if I were to use the liquid food color, and in which step will I add the liquid food color? thanks~
You are literally the first person i've seen make red velvet cakes without a mixer!! Thank you!!

Hi. If I want to make red velvet cake instead of cupcake, can I use the same amount of ingedients? and instead of using cupcake mold, I'll just use round cake pan?
instead of seperate the batter into small cupcakes can we put them all in one big pan and bake?
@mana chanchi
I'm from the UK too:) I think you just use plain flour since there's baking powder and baking soda and I've watched other videos and they're all plain flour:)
Delicious Great job
And all purpose flour instead of cake flour? Plz reply me!!😞
Great video! Can all purpose baking flour be used instead of cake flour?
Love your like hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!
かわいい ..!
this is so good!
I liked the giant "like" thingy at the end... hahaha...
And yes! I liked the video!
but in the video, you used only wire whisk ti cream the butter and sugar. so it seems okay to use an electric mixer??
sometimes the wet ingredients get stuck to the whisk is there any way to prevent it?
I can't find red food coloring powder anywhere in sf so if I were to use liquid how much should I use? Any when do I put the liquid food coloring? Thank u!,
Where i can buy pure vanilla extract in japan especially in kagoshima? Most of them are imitation. Thanks
Hi Ochikeron! I would be so thankful if you answer! I was wondering if I can use all purpose flour instead of cake flour, and which is the diameter of the forms of your cupcake pan? how to substitute the powder coloring with the liquid one ??? measurements???
Hi, can i use red yeast rice flour to replace the red food coloring?
Do u make gluten free cupcake?
Tq!
how much red food coloring should I use if I were to use liquid red food coloring?
I feel stupid for asking these questions but if someone can answer me that would be great...cake flour- in the UK we dont have cake flour (at least I dont think we do), would it be self-raising flour? and all so i thought baking powder and baking soda was the same thing...god i feel so silly but i would love to try and make these they look so~~ good!
Love your videos, everything always looks sooo yummy:)
is there a way to make the cupcake so that it doesnt crack at the top?
Plain flour will work fine, but you can make a substitute: remove 2 tablespoons of the flour from the cup and put in 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (corn flour). Then sift as in the recipe. Makes the cake a little finer texture.
Powdered Sugar is for frosting. Castor sugar is granulated sugar that has been refined to be more tiny and smooth。。。
can we use this exact recipe to make a cake rather than multiple cupcakes?
can you do measurements in cups and tablespoons and teaspoons???
hello, ochikeron! i'd like to ask what will be the ratio of the food color if I were to use the liquid food color, and in which step will I add the liquid food color? thanks~
Thank you so much for this recipe! ありがとうございました!I enjoy your videos so much, Ochi san! :3
what do salt do to the cupcake? because the last thing i want is a tint of salt in a cupcake
