Do you ever get discouraged when scrolling through RUclips and seeing $1500+ gaming builds? I do too, but here's how you can get gaming with nothing in your pockets.
The PC in this video was salvaged from a local business that was getting a massive upgrade. Similar builds are possible by arranging scraps you find via Garage sales, dumpster diving, craigslist/facebook posts, or even just asking friends and family-you'd be surprised what they may have filling up closet space.

One of my dad's work mates went dumpster diving and as crazy as this sounds they found a 4K tv just without the remote which was solved by buying a universal remote so as Comptv said if you take the time and effort you will get some neat stuff

getting a pc from my family is dam near impossible. and the reason for that is my mom and sister both have cancer. my sister has stage 3 and my mom has stage 4. so all our money is tied in doctor and hospital bills. but for all others sure family might help ya. also try yard sales you can sometimes find deals there. keep the good vids coming

My dad brought home a PC and was like "my boss wanted to get rid of this, he took that hard drive out but otherwise it's working." Slapped a couple of hard drives that I had laying around in and bam functional PC.
He went back the next day and told his boss, "Oh yeah you know that PC you gave me? Yeah your mom's old one. Well, my son turned it into a NAS device."

I had almost the same happen to me!
My personal biggest dump score would have to be this toshiba satelite pro l770 laptop. It had an i5 2410m, gt525m, 8gb ram, 750gb hdd (upgraded to 120gb ssd) and it worked flawlessly. It could even play gta 5 at 720p w/ low settings at 35-50fps! Also tried rocket league at 900p w/ high and was getting 55fps avg

I got Dell Precision T3400 and T3500 from my father's place of work. Sadly t3400 is dead but I upgraded gtx760 and 4gb ram(=8gb) to the t3500 and now it runs gtav 1080p medium settings 60fps.

Great advise and great video . This is how I started two years ago all I had was a ASUS Eee901 but started asking friends and family and I was give a Dell 301 XP desktop from there I learned what you talk of and finding PC's at a recycle for $8 and worked on finding one after the other where now I have hunted for months the parts where this is a 8350 on a MSI Krait MB ASUS 750ti 16gigs of ram - SSD and HDD in a Corsair Spec 1 case that is doing every thing . Before people yell about all the time and work , time if free and rewarding and had a blast the whole time . Learned a lot along the way also and made a lot of friends . My family computer for years has been a similar hp, pavilion p6-2130ea. It cost me £60 to upgrade to a core i7-2600s from CeX and £7 to get up to 8gb of ram. Thermal paste was Arctic MX-4 and cost about £5. The original CPU (Pentium G630) served me well and is a whole £0.10(!) to buy from CeX so it's a close to free upgrade if the current CPU is less powerful. Very happy with my upgrades!

not 6 frames but even in fps games 13-15 frames is what i think is playable, 20 feels smooth, 30 is a lot more than enough, 30+ is like heaven
The local dump near me has mountains of PCs, old and new, but they refuse to part with them on grounds that the data on them is personal and could be used maliciously. While I understand their point, I have no intention of doing those things and only wish to use/resell the parts. I got a peek inside one and their was an ok GPU with a nice amount of RAM. Any tips on how I could get those?

DUDE, an Athlon won't work in that motherboard; it's an intel-based board... DUH. And a ten dollar graphics card? Only if you get it used... and it wasn't a total waste of time and money even when new. LinusTechTips did a piece on how some low-end dedicated graphics cards aren't much better than integrated video. That being said, I have too much graphics card in my box for the CPU - a Radeon 7770 on a Core 2 Duo E7400 (2.8Ghz). I find that I'm CPU-limited most of the time. I could have just as easily gotten away with a 7750 and not noticed a difference. But in my experience, if a system must be unbalanced one way or the other... maybe it's better to have too much video card because you can always crank up the eye candy until you hit the CPU limit. If your video card sucks... all the CPU in the world won't help much.

My neighbors were throwing out their stuff in the alley and threw out an old HP desktop with an i5 2500 and 4GB of ram. I dusted it out, replaced the thermal paste, replaced the 4gb stick with an 8gb stick, put windows 10, and installed my old XFX R7 360. I showed it to my friend who wanted a decent gaming PC for mostly CSGO and Smite. After working things out with his dad, I sold it to him for $250

If you need to start with a webcam, definitely get the C920, it's quality is fantastic. The 720p cameras often have lots of motion blur in my experience.

Even though it’s 2 years old here is one method even though it’s related to 3, see if any repair shops have anything to throw or give away. Right of the bat I got a iBook g4 and then a gtx 460, 4gb ddr3 ram, 1155 motherboard with bent pins that had a lot which I fixed, WiFi card, and a windows 2000 or xp machine with a black old case which I used to put everything in for free. I needed a psu for the graphics card so 40$ for a bronze evga 850 wat psu with free sata and molex power cables, I just pulled my cpu from my cheap business prebuilt and it works like a charm, just need a adapter. Even if you don’t get anything you need you can flip them to someone if usable or for parts. It’s worth the wait to see if repair shops collect anything to throw away and it’s more better than dumpster diving give or take depends which shop. I went to a shop that had many parts and it was heaven to me but my time was short, still this is the best way to go before dumpster diving

Got my pc for free! (I got the parts from a local pc shop they were throwing them away, the gpu wasn't technically wasn't free I got a full working pc from the local pc store and sold it to buy the graphics card)

yeah one big problem with dumster diving is that it's ILLEGAL and you can be arrested and charged with theft, trespassing and probably other stuff

Go in a store, grab a gaming pc and stuff, stand in the repair line, tap your foot, look at your watch, then "FINE! I'll fix it myself!" walk out. thats how I got my 500 dollar pc!
My family and relatives know that I built my own computer and I told them that if their computer is slow or they want a new one, I will build one for them and they usually pay me money to buy the parts and then they give me extra for the labor. 9 times out of 10 I get their old computer.
