Had a great time here in November 2023. Drove the MK1 NSX, Impreza Type R and s30z (280z) Great experience and excellent staff, one of the best moments of my life to be honest.
Will be here next month man and am really hoping to to try that 964 Turbo out. I am genuinely baffled that a 19 y/o like myself is able to legally drive such a car especially in LHD haha, hopefully my Type R here in Australia has given me enough practice for a whole different machine like that 😅 Super helpful video man! That Kenmeri and 240Z looks unreal to drive.
Have fun and be safe! Definitely get familiar with some of the road signs and traffic light orders because it can be tricky at first. Otherwise, have a blast and be sure to take it all in👍👍
I loved driving the Kenmeri! It’s a raw car and since it’s older it may not be the fastest or most comfortable when comparing to the other options but I’m a vintage car fan and so it was perfect for me👍
I don't know how that old Skyline drives, but some cars like the AE86 have no power steering, traction control, or ABS. It will take time to get used to but they're fun and easy to adjust too. Everytime I go, I adapt pretty quick but struggle to re-adapt to my modern CR-Z when I go home. I have done these tours multiple times cause I have home field advantage (I have been living in Japan for 5 years now).
Okay I'm a new manual driver booked a 2 hr R34 drive and I learned driving manual in NYC and it was a struggle. Was there a lot of traffic and hills and stop and goes? which is was what I really struggle with
Hey what’s up man, depending on which tour you booked it can be quite challenging because there are a lot of hills, as well as sharp turns and narrow roads. Also, there is the added challenge of driving a right hand drive car, which can be difficult for even a more experienced driver to adjust to. Of course, anything is possible so if you are super committed to driving, definitely practice as much as you can until you are proficient in driving on any type of road and also familiarize yourself with Japanese road rules and general flow of traffic. It may be worth switching to an automatic car so that way you can spend more time enjoying the experience🤙
@boomboomtisk yeah so I'm okay with free flowing traffic it's just I struggle with stop and go traffic especially stop and go on hills and I booked the 2 hour tour and I'm assuming this video was the full 4-5 hour tour?
Yes this was the 4-5 hour tour but it is possible that you may still have some stop and go situations even with a 2 hour tour. Also, keep in mind that driving manual in a RHD car is going to be different, as well as driving on the left side of the road.
I’m not sure tbh, best to just check the website and book as ahead as you can. It’ll be a fun experience though. Also, keep in mind that they will put a deposit hold on your card when you are there. Definitely factor that in, it might be around 500-1000 depending on what you do. After about 2-3 weeks, you’ll get the deposit back
great vid man! planning a trip in december. is a credit card required or would a debit card be fine? on their website it lists both but can’t find a definitive answer. thanks!
Thanks for watching! In my experience, it was best to use a credit card because Fun2Drive puts a certain dollar amount deposit on hold during the tour. For me, there was a $2000 USD hold on there for 1 more week after that day. It was returned, however I'd imagine that this could make your budget very tight for the remainder of your Japan trip. If you have to use debit, I'd suggest making sure you have enough extra in your account. Also, this is all based off my personal experience and it may be different for you based off your own bank and/or if anything has changed at Fun2Drive since my last visit.
@@boomboomtisk got it, thanks brotha! really appreciate the detailed answer, i will definitely keep that in mind. one more thing & if you have no idea no worries at all, does the card for the deposit have to be in the drivers name? my girlfriend wants to pay as a birthday gift to me, but i suppose as long as i don’t bin it the deposit comes back so it doesn’t matter who’s card it goes on but just out of curiosity lol
You’re welcome man, glad to help! I think it can be put on a different card holder’s name, as long as they are present too. Of course if you want to be completely sure, it would be best to email fun2drive and double check👍
If you want the longer tours, do either the Core Hakone Drive or Ultimate Hakone Drive. Those tours last about 4-5 hours. They're expensive though depending on the car you choose to rent.

That’s amazing! Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did👍
Awesome video! Planning to do this in april:) Are the guides giving directions in english when driving?
Thanks for watching and yes they are. They make sure you’re plenty prepared for the drive👍 be safe and have fun!
That cream soda hat sick! I have the flag hanging on my wall 👍
The real ones know wassup!☠️😎
Regarding filming while driving are you allowed to film while you drive like if you positioned a camera to film you if you drive alone?
You may have to ask them directly about that but typically filming isn’t encouraged
Tour looks pretty fun! Was going to sign up for the same one to drive the Fairlady but timing didn't work out. Love that kenmeri
It’s definitely fun! Surreal to be driving out there, esp in a Kenmeri🙌

nvm its only the start of the month lol
How did that Kenmeri drive? Was it comfortable? Im torn on which to rent?

Planning on going to this next week! Should you carry cash for tolls and fuel during the run?
Yes! Definitely keep cash ready, tolls can run about 750 to 2000 yen each time so be prepared for that

Planning to do a core hakone tour too in December. How does the online booking processing work? Do they only open booking 3 months in advance?

How long was the tour?
This particular tour was around 4-5 hours, there’s other shorter options available too
Do you think the swift hakone (2hrs) or flash hakone (1hr) drive is worth it? I dont think I want anything longer than that lol.
I’d atleast do 2 hours to give room to see enough different things. Probably will be good if you’re stopping and taking pics too.

Excellent video🫡🫡im adding this on my todo list. Do you live in Japan?
Thanks for watching! I live in California but I try to visit Japan often👍
Seems like an absolute blast. Def adding this to our booking for our 2024 trip
It’s a must!
Oh yeah really
