Every situation is different but you can start at 1/60 or 1/50 with your ISO to about 800 and tweak from there @@crayshaunhenderson1265

@@DerrelHoShingPhotography hey bro...how can you hold it without camera shake really??? if you go lower than 1/60 or 1/50 of sec in shutter speed???
@@MissHitAllTheTime the camera freezes the motion in the moment the flash hits the subject. It acts like a second shutter. Thats basic flash photography.

I'm from KS too! Very helpful video. I'm shooting my first indoor event this weekend and just bought a flash.
Thank you so much this is gonna help me a lot
Hey Derrel . Keep up the good work. Love your enthusiasm. Not sure you get too much light transmitted from the retractable bounce card though. I think it’s sole purpose is to create catch lights in the subjects eyes, day or night. Works well. Cheers.
Softens the shadows just a tiny bit. Combined with giving catchlight in eyes it helps a bit, and you cant loose anything becouse it just bounces stray light
Look forward to testing out the motion shots with flash. Thanks dude
No prob man

Awesome tips man... u got new sub
some good solid tips there. i like the way you do tutorials going indepth
Thank you man
Awesome tips. I appreciate it. Quick question, do you shoot in ttl when you're pouncing flash at a 45 degree angle or do you manually program your flash?
Great tips!!!!
Willie Mills thanks G
ufff one of the best videos on how to use the flash on camera.
Oh thank you
Cool stuff Derrel! Thanxxx ! Don't know now the english but in Dutch we call it a polonaise ;))
Bouncing off the ceiling/walls is what I do everyday for the past few years in clubs. What I can advise you is to NOT have your flash at 45 degrees, but actually lower. Here's why - at 45 degrees, you get what you can see in your photos, which is just huge shadows under people's eyelids and eyebrows. If you have your flash lower, it will fill their faces, so it's gonna feel like you shot with a big softbox behind you.
Great instructional...
