my dad knew Charlie for 45 years from when they were both in Vietnam. been backstage to soo many concerts growing up. RIP Big Daddy, we miss you every day
Charlie went back to his hometown in 1996 and gave the commencement speech at UNC Willington. Some people were concerned about him giving the speech being he had no degree. However, he had International notoriety, millions of dollars, and was a successful businessman when the times were tough. He had one wife for life. This guy worked hard. He came up in the days you had to get beer bottles thrown at you at beer joints, just like in The Blues Brothers yet with no chicken wire, to make a living. I'd give my college degrees up for his life wisdom.
Charlie Daniel's most popular song is probably The Devil Went Down to Georgia, and is a great song! Drinking my Baby Goodbye and The South is Going to Do It Again are also popular.
Oddly enough, my favorite Charlie Daniels songs are his more obscure tunes that are not very popular. Mr. DJ and Old Rock n Roller are among my favorites but pretty much all of his songs are great.
You have to remember this was in the mid-seventies. Everybody did not go to college and have access to student loans. Many families couldn't send kids to college, so they headed to the mills, lumberyards, whatever and started working.
Charlie Daniels was great. He was real. He didn't hide anything and I have a feeling that if you had ever met him he'd be the same person as you think he is when you see him on TV. I was sorry to hear when he passed away.
"Uneasy Rider" is his best song, but nobody will react to it, because it has a passing reference to the "K Club", showing disdain for it by the singer.
I wish "reaction" videos would listen to studio versions of artists first to get the best recordings. Very few live performances are better than the studio recordings. (Yes, I know there are a few exceptions). But generally speaking, if it's the first time listening to a song, pick the studio version!
Most blue collar workers feel like white collar work isn't actual "work". And from their viewpoint it does look that way. But as a person who's gone from blue collar to white collar, and (by choice) back to blue collar, I know better.
Skip the "hits" for now. Dig deeper into his early stuff. He was a very diverse musician and songwriter. I've been a CDB fan since 1973. Listen and react to Trudy, Sweet Louisiana, Caballo Diablo, It's My Life, Saddle Tramp, Wichita Jail, Passing Lane just for starters. You like good music that's well written and tells a story. You've said that. All of these do exactly that and more. Oh, and Carolina is a wonderful song he wrote about his home state. Reflections is a tribute to some of the great musicians we lost in the 50s thru the 70s. From Buddy Holley to Lynyrd Skynyrd. Charlie was very close friends with LS singer Ronnie Van Zant. The original recording of Uneasy Rider is also a classic. Totally hilarious. I'm hoping to see reactions from you on these. I wouldn't waste your time.
Simple Man , I don't know what happened somebody must have broke in and stole his weed because he gotta whole different outlook on life compared to this one

Charlie Daniels lost his sight at age 7 due to an illness and remained “legally blind” until a revolutionary new surgery helped restore his sight at age 75. Nevertheless, he became an accomplished guitarist, violinist, and a Country Music legend.
Us country people do things our own way & we really don’t care what anybody else thinks about it. All we really want is to live our lives & be left alone. As a side note, that’s a good piece of advice as well- not a great idea to come around telling a country boy what he should do or how he should do it… just saying, we ain’t playing around. This is one of those country boy “anthems”. The one from Charlie that really tells it like it is though, is “simple man”
"Uneasy Rider" would be a good one to listen to.
Yes everyone usually says The Devil Went Down To Georgia but after getting an idea of his attitude I agree that Uneasy Rider is a better choice.
Amen!
Uneasy Rider 88.
@@Doug_M Is that different from Uneasy Rider 73?
@@wearinganapron Yes. Would probably get a person canceled in todays messed up world.
my dad knew Charlie for 45 years from when they were both in Vietnam. been backstage to soo many concerts growing up. RIP Big Daddy, we miss you every day
I didn't think Charlie was in the military he would have been in his 30s by the time of Vietnam. I thought he was a session man here in Nashville
Charlie was not a veteran though his work to help them is unmatched. Stop spreading these easily disproven things, just stop. Your dad lied
Yup, Charlie Daniels was not in the service

RIP Mr Daniels ... Trudy is another great iconic tune ..
Charlie Daniels is an American legend. I'm not a big country fan, but Charlie is unique, just like Johnny Cash.
He was a legend. Lots of great songs.
Tell it Charlie! Truth of a southern man.
Charlie Daniel's most popular song is probably The Devil Went Down to Georgia, and is a great song! Drinking my Baby Goodbye and The South is Going to Do It Again are also popular.
I prefer, Still in Saigon and The Legend Of Wooley Swamp! The Devil Went Down to Georgia, is great, but overplayed! LOL
@shawnj1966 maybe overplayed for those that listen to Country music, but for a newbie it's a good start.
Charlie Daniels ;- " Elvin Bishop sittin' on A Bale of Hay, He Aint Good Lookin' But He Sure Can Play !" THE SOUTHS GONNA DO IT AGAIN...album
Oddly enough, my favorite Charlie Daniels songs are his more obscure tunes that are not very popular. Mr. DJ and Old Rock n Roller are among my favorites but pretty much all of his songs are great.

Great reaction, one of my all time favs...
You have to remember this was in the mid-seventies. Everybody did not go to college and have access to student loans. Many families couldn't send kids to college, so they headed to the mills, lumberyards, whatever and started working.
You strike me as kindred in spirit to Mr. Daniels.
Dude you have an amazing voice yourself! Love your channel, good stuff🎶🎧🎶
"Uneasy Rider, Uneasy Rider 88,. Simple man, Bad Blood, MR DJ the legend of Wooley Swamp, You can't go wrong with any of his songs.
Still in Saigon is a song about the psychological trauma folks brought after seeing action in Viet Nam.
Would be interesting to see your reaction to CDB's "In America" considering what's going on in the world today.
YES!!!
We long-time fans call him…Uncle Charlie.
You must hear the story of “Legend of Whooly Swamp”
It’s a great tune to learn on the guitar. Easy but looks like you doing more than what you are.
Charlie Daniels was great. He was real. He didn't hide anything and I have a feeling that if you had ever met him he'd be the same person as you think he is when you see him on TV. I was sorry to hear when he passed away.
Still in siegon is a good one and legend of boggy creek
Before he went solo Charlie was a session man here in Nashville and played on Bob Dylan's albums recorded here
Spot on. Thank you
"Uneasy Rider" is his best song, but nobody will react to it, because it has a passing reference to the "K Club", showing disdain for it by the singer.
Viciously simple song. What an anthem…

Words to live by
Uneasy Rider is considered by some to one of the first rap songs ever...
But, you know, country singers had been doing "talking songs" forever. Long before rap was ever thought of. Charlie just did 'em FASTER! lol!
He was a great song writer
Agree Uneasy Rider should be next.
That's the way I've lived my life for 61 years. Just leave this long haired country boy alone.
You need to check out

If you want a great ride through county. Try Charlie. Hank Jr. And Garth. There's lots of others with huge talent but those 3 span 40 plus years.
