I remember growing up in Southwest in the 90s for the gang violence was terrible and out of control I found the Kronk as a way out I was pretty successful as an amateur it was more than just a boxing gym I learned self control and discipline and I never joined a gang just simply Kronk born and raised I would love to see historic Kronk gym restored
Never been to Detroit, but Kronk Gym is famous all over the world, as are many of its fighters. This is a sad sight. And what dignity from Manny Steward's sister.
Don't forget about the gym was down at but slide and Recreation Center on Lyndon and Meyers Crunch Gym have moved there for a minute and we had a boxing team they're called Continental boxing team on the name Boyd Garner senior
You can't forget about the Johnson Brothers out of the Crunch Gym lion El Johnson John Johnson and Joe Johnson world class amateurs Rodger Moore Frank Tate Thomas Tate Dwayne Johnson Jimmy Paul j Hurley Snead Bernard Superbad Mays Ricky Womack taimi Keith Griffin Robert Giles Billy Ingram Willie Hood Andre Nelson even though he started out with Continental boxing team
i feel that all the boxers that were taught by Emanuel Stewart should come back to Kronk and rebuild and teach the young men and woman of today. give them something to go to other than the STREETS.
It's like walking through the ruins of an old cathedral after you return home from your pilgrimage. Sad to see what had happened to such a iconic forge of boxing.
Emanuel Steward should have bought the whole gym or tore down and rebuild it modernized it I remember coming up in Detroit we had a boxing gym on every corner a crop was where it was at and crunk move to Butzel Adams gym on Lyndon and Meyers boy Gardner was my man

This should have been preserved like national parks. Similar to the Motown museum, a piece of Detroit history that will hopefully be remembered
if i had a little extra cash, i'd renovate that for the history.
Same
An absolute monster of a fighter was also born in that gym. GMan.
Don't forget about the gym was down at but slide and Recreation Center on Lyndon and Meyers Crunch Gym have moved there for a minute and we had a boxing team they're called Continental boxing team on the name Boyd Garner senior

Too bad the whole neighborhood is dilapidated. It is a sad sight.
You are 100% right and the eighties he kept a lot of us out of trouble we had a boxing gym on just about every corner in Detroit
I was a boxer taught there and Emanuel Steward will always be number 1
Don't forget about Angelo Dundee
Jimmy Paul, Milton Mc crory, et Thomas the hit man Hearns, des boxeurs qui ont bercé ma jeunesse ❤️

This building should be turned into a museum
Rest in peace Emmanuel Stewart
Jimmy Paul is a world class human being
Don't forget we used to train down at bustle items for a long time to on Lyndon and Meyers
Sad how people will come in and destroy one of the greatest peaces of history..
If we had any mayor but kwame, kronk gym might have been restored..what a shame
Legendary. That's all I can say.
Kronk Gym has fallen victim to arson as many classic, important buildings/homes in Detroit.
Emanuel Steward should have bought the whole gym or tore down and rebuild it modernized it I remember coming up in Detroit we had a boxing gym on every corner a crop was where it was at and crunk move to Butzel Adams gym on Lyndon and Meyers boy Gardner was my man
This makes me sad
Kilpatrick closed the oldest "" COMMUNITY "" center in Detroit
Badass gym
K r o n k wasn't the only tough boxing gym we had a gym on every corner in Detroit Michigan east and west side and maybe a couple or Southwest
Fuck sake can’t someone with money get this going again
The way the Kronk Gym was treated is indicative of the peole living in Detroit.
