I have love-hate feelings towards this moment. On one hand Spider shows himself a better person than Quaritch in compassionately saving his life yet still rejecting his father and everything he stood for. Still, considering Jake tried to kill him and pragmatically it would prevent Quaritch from creating anymore trouble for the Navi.
I just hope that the Sully family aren't going to reject Spider for this. I don't want Netriyi to have *more* reasons to hate Spider and I certainly *don't* want Lo'ak (his friend and brother figure) to blame Spider for Netyam's death.
I hope that Spider keeps a good relationship with the Sully family and Quaritch doesn't ruin the progress he's made with them.
Quaritch threatened Lo'ak, who was like a brother 2 him, & then Kiri, his all-time best friend. & then, when Neytiri threatened 2 kill Spider, Quaritch basically told Neytiri that he means nothing 2 him. Spider may never forgive him 4 all that, especially 4 threatening the only people who loved him unconditionally.
I think Spider saved him not just because it's the right thing to do but maybe he thought Quarritch would stay and change for him, like how Jake changed thanks to Neytiri. He did show signs of change like walking barefoot, taming an ikran, actually making an effort to speak the language correctly, not killing a single person (that we know of at least), etc. just like Jake in the first movie
I like how this shows Spiders compassion. But dislike how this could lead to the death of another Sully.

It wasn't just about compassion. It was also about mercy. Mercy is when u give someone a 2nd chance, even though they don't deserve it. Sparing an enemy is 1 of the most merciful acts alive.

I think most people miss the fact that apart from Quaritch being his father, Spider must have felt he owed his father for choosing to save his life instead of revenge. Quaritch could have easily let Netriyi kill Spider just to prove he would do anything to kill the Sulleys. Yet, Quaritch chose his son's life instead. So, in a way, I feel like Spider felt he owed this much to his father. Kind of a deep yet tough choice.
Son love his Father but Quaritch trying to kill all Navi
Not love but not wanting to let someone die. He doesn't want to be like his father which is why he is better than him

Because quaritch might become an important ally to Jake in the future, and turn against the humans since he’s an avatar now and not a human

What did you people expect he's literally Agent Smith or Emeperor Palpatine, the main bad guy, nobody likes yet they keep coming back till the end of the trilogy or franchise.

Can someone explain how he survived after not breathing so long?
When you drown your body natural response is to suffocate itself a lieu of preventing water in, 4-5min survivability before brain damage, Navi are 9ft and triple the lung capacity increasing the chances of survivability to 10 to 15 mins
He did this because he returned the favor nothing more

@@juliezavatar because he abandon his true father that treated him like a real person and saved him from that monster Damon girl Neytiri because knowing one thing she’s going to murder little Miles soon because as long as he’s around her Damon family she will keep trying to murder him every time she sees him besides she thinks all Navi are good and all humans are evil. Just like you Juliezavatar because both she and you think of perfection when it’s not really there and doesn’t exist at all something, I already learn and accept when, I got older and learn it from Tron Legacy so enjoy your fairytale dream of Navi being perfection because in the 3rd movie there’s going to be a clan that comes from fire called the Ash clan and there very brutal and Damon monsters that will genocide anything that’s not Navi all completely hopefully they’ll be great allies for Jake and Neytiri since they want to put my race and me into extinction just like you Miss Juliezavatar because becoming a savage Damon that has a dark heart and wishing yourself away is a wish you’re going to one day regret 200% indeed but, I will fight kill you many times, if, I have too for the light of humanity and the light of Pandora indeed oorah.

Its from Spider’s perspective. Quaritch saved Spider’s life when Neytiri was just about to kill him. Quaritch gave up his big chance to kill Jake right there for Spider, AND implied he did see Spider as his son when he looked away and shook his head, “he’s not mine”. Spider’s a good kid, seriously. He saw Quaritch dying and he knew that man just saved his own life from a woman that was ready to kill him. He saved him but he didn’t want to come with him. Spider was with the RDA for three months, and the movie shows Spider and Quaritch bonding in some moments. With not really being accepted by Neytiri to the Sully’s, and the McCosker’s, Spider felt loved for a second and that’s why he did it
