"I know I am more than good enough, and I haven't yet put together a complete performance. And I feel like when I do, it will be something really special.'" - Taylor Self. What a motivational and humbling story. I hope Taylor still remembers this/gets reminded of saying this. Taylor Vs. The World is such an accurate title for the journey this man has been on to get where he is and shine brighter than anyone I have ever seen. All the best and kick some ass

This is why Sevan is the best CrossFit podcast in the biz. Taylor was barely on my radar, but after this interview, I can’t wait to cheer him on. what he went through was just so intense and as someone who has been sober for eight years and has two small kids, I can’t even imagine the thought of them seeing me in a drunken state. I thank God every day those days are far behind me. Sevan is right: once you are a dad, the thought of leaving your kids is just such an anathema. I can’t wait to see Taylor compete!!

I had a recruiter tell me to lie too, a long time ago, and I didn't lie either. I just wanted to say, you've described the heroes journey, especially when you described your experience of accepting.

Would be curious to hear Taylor's thoughts now, on if it is possible to make some sort of amount of money without being pressured or forced into following the narrative of everyone else?

Most of what you are saying about Canada is completely incorrect. 1. The mandates are not by Trudeau (I'm not a Trudeau fan by the way), mandates are controlled by the province. Nothing has been closed for two years, but there has been open and closes for two years. What Truck drivers are freaking out about is they are required to get a vaccine to run anything across the border in the US and back into Canada. That part though is at Federal level (Trudeau). There's also nothing about going to jail if you don't get a vaccine. You do spout a lot BS that you obviously don't truly know. I don't disagree with having some restrictions, but I do disagree with the level some of our restrictions have gone. Stupidity like you can pack a bunch of people into a hockey arena to watch the Maple leafs game but a Crossfit gym is closes is stupid. I don't disagree with everything, but I don't agree with everything either. Quebec's rules have probably been the craziest though.

True. And the trucker protest is moot because the US a week later put in a requirement for Canadian truckers to be vaccinated to enter the US. Its also funded by extreme right wing separatist party and does not represent the majority of truckers.

    • @staceyb87

Sean & Benita, I live in BC, not sure where you're from but although there are different mandates in each province, there are FEDERAL mandates for health care workers and all government employees which require you to have the vaccine. There is also the issue of you right to mobility as a Canadian Citizen...if not vaxxed you cannot travel by plane or train in or out of the country which is mandated country wide. .. Although the mainstream media portrays it as an extreme right wing separatist movement, that's completely incorrect, all you have to do is turn off the television and look at all of the live streams to see that it is a peaceful protest with millions of Canadians from all walks of life. Its not funded by any political party its funded by the citizens of Canada who have donated to the Go Fund Me page which is nearing 10 million dollars. Sure there might be 1 or 2 bad apples in the movement but they do not represent the millions of people (who by the way are all different races, genders, creed, religons and economic status) who have joined together to fight to have our rights and freedoms back. Benita L Im not sure if you live under a rock but 1. the majority of the truckers are vaxxed...90% and they majority of the truckers...are in OTTAWA, or participating in their own convoys across Canada that couldnt make it to Ottawa.... I was part of one last Saturday in BC and it was something Ive never seen before. Everyone was smiling, laughing, cheering waving, talking, helping. Benita, nothing you said could be further from the truth. Stop spewing false narrative.
