Would love to see this on your Patreon page, been looking for a good pastel dog video.
Unfortunately, there is no real time footage of this video left. Also, I only have a 20 min slowed down speed video left, but I personally think it is way too fast to see quite fairly what I am doing. I could "stretch" it to 40 minutes, then it is a bit better, but I am not sure about it. I can upload it on my Patreon page if you want, but it needs to render first.
Apart from this, I maybe just should draw a new dog pastel portrait for better Patreon content.
Gotcha. That's a shame about the loss, but I guess that happens over the years. If you do ever get around to doing another dog portrait, I'd be super happy to see you post it! And thanks for the reply :)

wonderful! I have 3 border collies. love them to bits! Have you had any difficulty with trying to get the details around the eyes with the pastel? I cant ever seem to do it. I usually opt for using colored pencil on the eyes and detailed bits. Beautiful work.

Hey, danke dir! :) Meistens verblende ich Pastell mit den Fingern, für kleinere Details nutze ich einen Papierwischer auch Estompe genannt. Achte beim Verblenden mit den Fingern aber darauf, dass sie trocken und fettfrei sind. Dann klappt das wunderbar. :)
The Paper you use is not available in US. What is the closest paper to this one I can find in the US? Is it a sanded paper? If so what grit is it close to in Uart? Thanks in advance. Great video, You are an amazing artist.

Sternenhimmel1 Klar beantworte ich die Fragen, warum auch nicht. ;) Ich bin 30 und ein Mädchen. Wenn man bei 30 noch von Mädchen reden kann. (hust) Mit 19 Jahren ca. habe ich angefangen mir das zeichnen beizubringen, habe also schon ein paar Jährchen Erfahrung und Übung. :)

I use specific pastel sharpener, called "Stabilo Carbothello Pastel Sharpener".
But be aware you only can use these sharpener between 10 and 15 times till the blade is damaged. So you need a few more than one if you sharpen your pencils often. It actually is very expensive to work with these but the best way for me to sharpen my pencils. ;)

Yes. Always. I use a pastel fixative spray from Winsor and Newton: geni.us/bIdX

Yes you should use specific pastel paper. I like the paper form "Fabriano Tiziano" a lot. Also the brownish "dorée" paper I used here, but you only can get it from "Boesner". ;)

Noob question if I may - Is drawing with pastel pencils different than drawing with colored pencils? Do they require a different technique?
Yes. They are different to handle, different to blend, different to sharpen and you should use different paper to draw/paint on. There is special paper for pastels.
Oh and in my opinion, it's more fun to work with pastels than with colored pencils. :)

Do you only deal with Pastels, I have Prismacolor along with Faber Castells.
I also use Prismacolors and Polychromos. :)
