First time hearing this singer, good! I went to many many of these dances as a child with my grandparents, then as an adult on my own. Love my Cajun heritage. I spoke Cajun before I spoke English.
I bought this album when I was in New Orleans in 1995 - absolutely luvit - play it over and over - I am from Australia but can't get enough of this music - great stuff!!!!!
Best thing about the Cajun Waltz is not to see the older people waltz, the young couples rub bellys, it is to watch the children emulate thier elders and dance together.
@afghooey ...mmmm don't think it is mate (its a subjective judgement anyway) nothing wrong with good strong tambre in a voice eg. Doris Day would be crap at singing this.. and look how cleanly she lived.
