Janko Angelov Hey mate, thanks for the comment. Sure, I'll start putting them up. Here's the Julia fractal animation:
Like in a dream - 3D fractal trip
If you want to learn more about the Julia fractal:
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_set
Pascal W - s My bad if I didn't make it clear, that was just a mock up scenario for an idea I had for combining 3D printing with smartphone technology. It does not yet exist for phones.
The actual software is called 3-sweep: 3-Sweep: Extracting Editable Objects from a Single Photo, SIGGRAPH ASIA 2013
OVVNAGER Haven't heard that story, will take a look.
Martin Daly Cheers mate, thanks for the link!

Hey mate! Loved this episode. You might also want to look at the 3D printing pen.
It's not as innovative as bio-printing or 3D printed architecture, but it's taking 3D printing it your pocket for everyday common usage.
      Check it out:

I anticipate a time when 3D printing reaches the atomic scale. Atoms for ink the possibilities would be endless.
An aspect of 3D printing not mentioned is recycling, for example the ProtoCycler.
Such initiatives are sure to play an important role in years to come in terms of sustainable living.
    Cheers for the great videos!

I'll bet the cost of the raw material used to "print" objects will skyrocket - much like ink on normal printers. And imagine the structures one could create with perfect fractals, built layer upon layer... and clothes designed to size? My heart! It goes pitter-patter.

I'm a 3d printing hobbyist and would just like to point out, he says "imagine you could hold the object you've just thought of in a few hours" remember you have to be able to draw the object and convert the file to an stl, as well a clean the file, and know how to use a slicing program in association with you're 3D printer, as well as being able to correctly set up the print.

3D printing is going to change the world even more than computers and the internet, it's the closest thing we're ever going to come to for Star Trek-like replicators anytime soon, and the sky's the limit. What we're seeing now is the technology in its very infancy, you're not going to be able to recognize the world in 20 years.
And it's funny, it's really such a simple premise, it's amazing it's taken this long to see the potential.

Hey Dedago aka ColdfusTion. This video is amazing, and it relates to one of my schools project (which I might do my masters thesis on). Basically we are looking for the ability for a 3D printer (aka the mother printer) would be able to mass produce other 3D printers and thus parallelizing any other process. So as you can see, it can basically morph any object, thus making self replicating machines for space travel and colonization. A lot of work is needed, but the 3D printing is amazing.

Im expecting a world where 3d printing will be made available to everyone at a huge cost reduction and there will be a platform that anyone can contribute on designs and can easily be transfereed to say a qr code in which your device can read then simply print based on that design.
Imagine being able to print your own auto parts? or machinery parts? appliance parts?
We would have a generation of creators and entrepreneurs on just being able to create right off from their ideas instead of the setting now where you hve to risk things juat to be able to have a manufacturer create prototypes

I have a 3D printed iPhone case that I made myself on Autodesk Inventor but I think that since this industry has so much potential, we could even use it for high precision jobs like printing CPUs and GPUs which would greatly reduce the fabrication process to >10nm and theoretically inspire new architectures, boost performance and lower the cost. That way everyone can start enjoying enthusiast level hardware without having to drop a case of cash!

But sky isn't the limit. 3D printing has reliable and essential applications in the space industry. Not only for human consumption purposes but in complex and geometrically difficult engine components and design. In fact, 3D printed parts are preferred in both repair and science equipment for the simple reason of cost efficiency on orbit.
Going to mars we most likely wont set up massive scale production lines so 3D printing technologies will be the foundations of the second human civilization, in every field.

I have a 25 year old car here in Thailand and spare body parts are difficult to get. 3D printing would solve that if shops could just print them from original drawings and not need to keep a stock of parts for the thousands of models out there now.

You know, I first heard of 3 D Printing, when BMW entered Formula 1 as a Constructor. Apparently, BMW wanted to be able to make parts Quickly and Affordably overnight, for validation purposes the following day.
They used 3 D printing regularly, saving millions of developmental dollars, over the course of there involvement in F1. Once a part was verified perfect, they then milled the part for permanent use in their F1 Cars.
3 D Printing is Revolutionary, it applications almost limitless, the cost savings in time and raw materials enormous.

3D printers are going to revolutionize everything, I can imagine a point in the very near future where you can create anything you want, out of nearly any material almost instantly.
You just stand naked inside you closet and your clothes get printed directly onto your body complete with what ever design modifications and pocket contents you preselected. Then you walk into your garage and choose a vehicle from your digital library and watch it print out in front of you faster then you can finish your fresh cup of replicated Joe.
    The future sounds nice.

You can use it in things such as re-creating PC parts, making a photo that looks like a mobile phone and later on pay for tje main phone parts. That means simply creating your phones and how you want them to look, but you'd have to pay for things such as the "Inside of your phone" and stick it all together with wires. You could also make thing such as Figureens and such other marvelous thing, even a PC Tower and wiring all the bits and pieces togheter.
Its really limitless and I guess people cant wait until the market starts to take affect.

It's also interesting to think about the impact these printers will have on society. I think of this in terms of the further automation they offer to an already industrialised society. Less workers will be needed to complete complex tasks such as cars, houses or even things that require careful detail. Things are likely to be manufactured faster (and cheaper?) than ever before and with less effort. Thus, being more efficient. However, what effect will these have on people and those who contribute to the manufacture of products? Will the assembly of the components produced by this printer still be put together by people or will this be automated as well? hmmm....

It's good if you can print using different types of materials instead of just one type of material.

When dealing with structural biology, we often struggle with visualizing proteins, receptors, enzymes etc. We have to know the structures of the molecules to best understand their function. X-ray crystallography and NMR are still difficult ways of visualizing proteins. Now, what if we could create a device that would recognize the structure of certain proteins and have it 3D print them for us to view? Sounds possible to me lol.... Cool videod bra...

Amazing video! With this type of technology, software development is really important. If we dont have software with the capabilities of replicating the inside and the out of the desired object it won't be of much use. I would really like if anyone knows of any good software for the development of 3d models with detailed technical capabilities to let me know. Thank you.

First, Thanks for all of your videos, very nice production, good choice of background music, good research for the content.
second, it's may be too late since the video is pretty old now, but can you give me some info about the app used with the Samsung phone (obviously android app) to 3D filed a photo ?
last, I am for sue a fan of your channel that I discovered yesterday and watch already all of your uploads. ;-)

3d printing crystallized data structures...like growing rock candy but the data stored inside can reflect environmental influences at the time of growth/production...they can be scanned like a cd and re-encoded with different data standards....possibly even light emitting circuits
    oooooo light sabers...
