That's a neat tip about flat twisting the area near your part. I've started doing more braidless crochet so this should help. Thanks!

Maricle 1 it could be the way that you are separating the hair. Try doing it from the bottom to the top instead of top to bottom

The hair is curly so it will just fall over bun. Shprobaly pinned it down more. Who knows. Never see the back

So let me get this right- you put your hair into a tight bun/pony tail, and did the crochet braids around that, and then applied them to your hair like you do with the braids, just with your pulled back hair?
Wow! I feel like I just learned one of the secrets to the universe. Before my loc got long, I always did crochet styles, but I was tired of having to braid my big old head, and then doing the actual braids.
I’m definitely going to try this out with my daughter! She has long hair, about. 3c pattern, and hates having it parted, braided down etc. doing her hair is a chore and I feel so bad because her scalp is so sensitive! This looks like it was cut down the time and make it so she isn’t going through torture to do her hair.

Sweetheart you just solved my hair style problem. I am going on vacation and was wondering how I was going to do my crochet braids because I ran out of time to go get my niece to do it for me. I have never seen anyone do it on just their hair, without using a hair net, or braiding up the entire hair on head. I cannot stand the hair net and I am not good at braiding up my own hair so this will work fine for me, two small braids in front is OK. I will try it today because I am leaving on Friday.
