Love the video and love my XPLR AXS setup. I have 1x with two sets of wheels, one for gravel grinding with 10-44 cassette and the other for the road with 10-36, and it's brilliant! The 12-tooth cog on 10-36 adds the missing part for optimal cadence on road and with the 10-44 I can ride everywhere. And with same hubs on wheels, the cassettes match perfectly and the shifting is flawless. SRAM nailed it with this setup :)
Hi Dave. I was thinking of doing the same. I've just bought identical wheels to my first set to have tyres better suited to road on permanently and was going to swap the cassette over each time. I like the idea of a cassette better suited to road riding. is it just as simple as fitting the 10-36 and no derailleur adjustment at all?

@@spgodby Hi, you need to adjust Bscrew when using different cassettes. It's a quick service procedure but you need to do it. 10-44 has a 7 mm and 10-36 has an 11 mm gap.
can you please release smaller cassettes? I don't need more than 10-42 (like XX1 11-speed) on the MTB. And on the Gravel 10-40 would be enough. Not everyone is living in the mountains...
SRAM killed the front derailleur? To me, very [True]! Who seems to fancy a front mech on a rig that isn't a road bike? XC seems closer to Gravel and Road but there's the 1x Eagle Transmission or XTR. My dream bike from modern frames is surely a fuzzy dream... there's the frame manufacturers too! I still love a triple crankset and either 8 or 9 gears behind or crazy enough to combine 52-36 with 10-44, 10-45, 10-51 or even 10-52... if they'll fit. At this point, my little friend called the front derailleur is becoming a memory and i don't like it. Let's see: who cares?
They are STILL only doing electronic shifting. You can hack around it and 3D print some parts or order some 3rd party ratchets, but SRAM only wants you to enjoy the great outdoors by downloading another app and carrying around extra batteries, just like we all want to do when we go to the great outdoors!

that's not going to work too well. When you get into Eagle, you're looking at a different chain width and cog spacing compared to our parts from the traditional road side, so an Eagle RD will actually move the chain too far on an XPLR cassette.
@@SRAM Is there any chance we'll get an eagle 10-44t cassette for regular xd drivers? There are a lot us mountain bikers that want to run 12 speed, but don't want/need the large range of the 10-50/52 cassette.
Still no 1x drivetrain with drop bar shifters, that I don't need a battery for? C'mon SRAM, how can you see be pushing bikepacking and gravel but then offer still nothing for those of us who actually don't want to have to worry about a battery gauge or an App for two seconds in our lives? Instead, we're all still here 3D printing ratchet parts or ordering sketchy parts from China, and have been for years, to hack around the fact you won't let us have a Mullet train without an app. It's ridiculous. I know you are all very excited about electronic shifting, but doesn't the many articles on how to hack your products for years now, indicate a lot of us just want a Gravel mullet that doesn't need to be plugged in?
Hey Sram, listen up. I’m angry at you. I’ve been angry at you for a long time. I speak for many. The 13-15 step is too large. Here is my suggestion: 11-12-13-14-16-18-20-22-25-28-32-36 And: 40/24, 42/26, 44/28, 46/30, 48/32. The riders that would choose 40/24 really need that super low gear for hauling heavy shit up mountain passes. 30x36 IS NOT LOW ENOUGH FOR TOURING. And no one else is coming out with touring specific gearing other than Pinion and Rohloff, which still do not have good solutions for drop bars. Cinq does not support P1.18 and Rohbox makes removing rear wheel a PITA. If you can’t do 40/24 for example because the shifting is poor, then try 39/24 or 40/25 or something nearby. Asking a tourer to move to 1x to get 18 gear inches is also asking them to give up all top speed, as well as all close steps. Its simply ridiculous. More ridiculous than the goofy names you’ve given your products lately. Here is another suggestion: Just come out with a 14 speed cassette. A DIYer on youtube has already done a 14 speed cassette and it functions without a problem. If he can do it, your team can. Something like: 11-12-13-14-16-18-20-22-25-28-32-36-41-46 And pair that with a 46/30 The 30:46 ratio would be very nice for loaded touring and there would be no compromises at all in terms of step size anywhere in the cassette. No one touring wants large steps. The 10-52 12s cassette is garbage for touring no matter how expensive you make it or much you market it as an option. Its not and it never will be. This problem of step size and range is not a slippery slope. There is a threshold. Step sizes ideally should be no more than 12%. Range should ideally be no less than 600%. Once you can achieve that, I will not be angry at you anymore. Oh and fix your FD shifting. Pay Shimano to use their tech or something. Let your ego, go.
I have a 2x Rival crankset (with PM) on my road bike (not wide version). I consider changing it to 1x XPLR for multi-day touring. I am not sure if I can use the same crankset, just change from two chainrings to one chainring. Can I use the same crankset, so I would need just the new RD, cassette and chain? Or do I need to buy a completely new crankset too?

wich chainring do you use?
@@Mental707 The default one 40. But I am thinking about buying 42 for extensive road riding. But for universal use, the 40 is sweet spot.

It's all mechanical unless you purchase the AXS upgrade kit to make it electronic.
The new Apex finally allows mechanical mullet 10-52 12s. But as usual with everything Sram, it’s not affordable.

i currently have the SRAM GX Eagle AXS 12 Speed 42 ring on front and the 10-50 on back can i swap the cassette to the 10-44 ?
To use the 10-44 XPLR cassette, you'll also need an XPLR rear derailleur and a Flattop chain.
Gavel gearing should be a 46 tooth ring, with 11-36 cassette.
