      I have 1 regret with my 2020 SGS.
      I had the 117 ci stage 3 kit installed before I took it home. Right after that they discontinued that kit and came out with the 131 for I believe the same price. Wish I’d of the the 131 instead. 😒 But it still has plenty of power and runs great.

    Both are great. I was told since I'm 6'4" that a Road Glide would fit me better. But I just bought a 2021 Street Glide Special FLHXS 2 weeks ago. Just picked it up a few days ago and I love it. Fits great.

    I'm 6'0" and on the road glide I had to reach out to access the dash. I bought a 2018 geezer glide ultra couch instead. I do prefer the look of the road glide. Either way find what fits you and go lay down some miles.

    My comment is long but hopefully it helps some others…either way…..
    “I’ve rented SG in the past for 3 days....I also have been on a Road King the last 9 years
    When I went to buy a new bike I test rode both SG and RG, each for about 45 minute ride. Half way through on the RG I realized that yeah, this is the bike..... there is a difference in handling.
    Through the S corners, the SG feels like you are using the bars to bring the bike from one side, over center, and to the other side. You are dragging the fairing with the bars.......35-40 lbs of batwing fairing to drag right and left over the center of gravity.
    - [ ] The RG feels more nimble and through the corners, it feels like center of gravity is right below your seat, like you are on a rail, smooth and tight with the fulcrum right under your ass.
    SG feels like the fulcrum is at the steering head, or just under the tank and that is because of the added weight of the fairing on the bars ...., it’s not a huge deal, but there is a difference.....
    I also thought that I would like the cockpit of the SG better, the way the gauges are laid out right in front of you, the infotainment screen within easy reach etc. the RG fairing and cockpit looked too open and infotainment screen too far away, the gauge location spread out etc.....BUT, after riding both, the SG felt a little cramped to be honest and I’m average height at 5’-10” The SG fairing does protect you more from the wind…RG has a lot of air buffeting in the cockpit….
    I really appreciate the openness and roominess the RG riders compartment over the SG .
    I BOUGHT THE RG....

    I was trained to ride on a police department. Batwing fairings will handle much better at slow speeds, and give you better downforce and control at high speeds. Go to a police rodeo and count how many Road Glides are there....none.

    Glad I found this video. Thank you. You have confirmed several things between these two bikes that I just experienced myself! It's weird, but that RG did feel like I really needed a back rest or something as things seemed just a bit farther away from me than the SG. The sales guy said there's about a 3 inch difference between the two bikes. I also just saw a HD rep say they sell a few more of the SG's than they do the RG's but to ride them both to decide. I did, and I like the fact the RG has the TFT up high, but I didn't care for the rear mirrors on the bike. I liked the rear mirrors on the SG, but the TFT was lower due to the analogs being up top. I did slightly feel like I was more "secure" on the SG. I'm only 5'9, and a fatso. So maybe I should stick with that SG. I see more RG's at night though, and that headlamp is awesome. I haven't seen the SG at night to my knowledge, but HD being HD you add lights if you want to add them. The biggest thing I noticed between the two rides was the wind buffeting my head. The SG stock was terrible. My head moved like a jack-hammer. The RG was much less, far less. I hate to have to go right out and spend on a taller windshield or deflector, but maybe I will. So now I'm stumped. I'm going back Saturday to pick one out. I'm gonna ride each again to try, and pin it down. If they can adjust the ride on the RG I'd take that one I think. If they can't adjust it so it feels like an SG, maybe I'll stick with the SG. Sorry for blabbing...maybe I need a mental health counselor...lol.

    I’ve had both bike and i totally agree with you, especially on the handling. Im 5’8”-ish and i’m on the long leg side so my body isn’t so tall and for me the RG is like driving a long hood car like an old cadillac and the SG is like “normal” car, and because my body is on the shorter side, it’s pretty hard to see the front side of the bike in traffic on RG. And another point for the handling, on the SG i can feel the weight on the bar for maneuvering so there’s no sudden “pulling down” effect when leaning the bike, like on the RG. I don’t know if this happen on my mind, but my theory is, because the steering on RG is pretty light, for split second you forgot the weight and when you lean the bike the weight is like pulling you down and because the RG’s fairing is on the high side of the bike, the center of gravity is pretty high too and that’s why i feel the “pulling down” effect. And I live in a constant traffic country, so for me the RG isn’t ideal

    The Road Glide is harder handle at 0-5mph due to it feeling “longer” than a Street Glide. The mounted fairing vs. the Batwing is night and day difference. Nothing cuts through the wind like a Road Glide. In Texas, there is a strong cross-wind almost 365 days a year. I cruise 90+ everywhere I go because it’s just so silky smooth in the wind! Road Glide or No Glide 😂

    • @RobertJones-ix2hu
      @RobertJones-ix2hu 3 года назад +3

      I felt the RG was easier at slow speed maneuvers because , to me, the bars have a lighter feel. The fixed fairing didn’t affect my vision or trick my mind like I expected it to. I hate my SG on the interstate. It moves around the lane like crazy. RG is so much more stable. RG def has my vote as well

    • @nicklabrie
      @nicklabrie 2 года назад +1

      @@RobertJones-ix2hu I know this is older post, but I agree with you. I like them both, but the Road Glide is more aerodynamic, and handles better because that weight isn’t attached to the bars. I think some feel the opposite because it “feels bigger” (the fairing in front of you) but they’re almost exactly the same width.
      I’m only 5’7 and I ride a Road Glide Limited.
      Either way, both awesome bikes, I definitely like them both!

    A little bit late on this video. But spot on man. I actually like the look of the road glide more, but when I got on the road glide it was super intimidating because it felt way bigger and fairing seemed far away. So I immediately disregarded the street glide and settled for a lowrider st. But then one day I sat on a street glide and man it was very comfortable and not intimidating at all. Everything was right in front of me and I loved the cockpit.
    For being a short rider, street glide was way better to me than the road glide. So when you said shorter guy stick with the street glide made perfect sense. I have a buddy who is short as I am and struggles to comfortably ride the road glide.

    Been on both over the years. Truth is the RG handles the wind better. Not much better but it cuts through the wind a little better than the SG. In the real cold, you'll be praying for a bat wing fairing. I mean in the cold cold and the rain when you're 1000 miles Fromm home you'll be praying for a batwing bike. Crosswinds- same same. Handling turbulence from trucks on the road- same same. I'm a highway man. I don't trip around town on my bike. For the highway; I'll take the SG every time.

    Enjoyed your video. Like Mr. Boone(Kenneth), I'm 5"8" and a couple hundred pounds. I rode a Street Glide CVO before my Road Glide Ultra. The Street was nice but the Roadie is heaven. I like the open cock pit area, love the shark nose and don't feel the wind in the handle bars as I did with the Street Glide. Yesterday ( with permission) I sat on my buddy's Street Glide and admittedly it seemed set more so for a shorter rider. I'm sure with shocks and seat adjustments I can get ( or close) to the same footing while stopped on my RG. After all, is just the fairing that differ between the bikes. Regardless, both beautiful rides and it's your mind set also. If you feel apprehensive on what you are riding, you are not going to enjoy it as much. In closing, "ride" on and safe miles.

    I have been torn between both. I love the look of the both of them. I will put my .02 for anyone who wants to read it.
    I'm a big dude. 6'6 and 305 lbs. (Don't judge, I like tacos) Having taken both out, I can say there are some advantages to both. A couple of things he touched on in this video.
    The RG definitely stretches the front end out. Advantage being a tall guy - you feel less crowded. Disadvantage is - if you're trying to view the nav screen, it's a lot further out.
    The SG is definitely more nimble at lower speeds. The one advantage is with the fork mount is getting it up off the jiffy stand. You are able to stand the bike up, and then rotate the weight of that fairing. With the RG, you are taking all that weight up at once. With the right saddle and bars, I don't feel crowded at all.
    Hopefully I'll make a decision here in the next bit so I can go buy one lol
    But it may be neither. I might go with the Electra glide standard. $19K for a new bike, leaves me with 10K to do quite a lot.

    In 2016 I sat on a road glide in the dealership and then sat on the street glide. The stationary fairing and being able to turn the bars without the fairing moving on the road glide felt “weird”, I ended up buying the street glide. Fast forward 3 yrs. later, I test rode a 2019 road glide and traded in my 2016 street glide and never looked back. I had my 2019 road glide standard for just about 3 yrs. and traded that in for a 2020 road glide special. I wanted the blacked out look. My personal opinion is yes, they are both awesome bikes, can’t go wrong with either one, but for me it’s the road glide all day everyday.

    Streetglide has the iconic look . I have a 2014 Firefighter shrine 103 high output. Now I'm 5' 8 and I like to feel closer to the front wheel. I like the Road glide BUT I don't like the fixed fairing that is a stretch ( for me ) to even touch the dashboard like front fairing to opperate the radio. The road glide would be easier to turn in Very high winds and would be a better bike for taller riders to stretch out on but I have been in very high winds with my Streetglide and didn't have a problem. Can't say I care about the gauges being lower on the RG because I look at my surrou dings and the road way more than I do my gauges anyhow. They way the front end carries itself when moving the RG around in the garage can definitely be felt over the SG. To each is own. Still like the batwing look better but the sharkfin grows on you.

IMO it handles better in all conditions and is a better ride. I did try an SGS last year at demo days and couldn't wait to get off it I felt cramped lol. I never thought I would after owning an Ultra for a few years and an sg for 2 years but the shark is the bike for me. The sg isn't more aerodynamic but it does protect you better in the cold or rain but the rg handles and cuts the wind better. ride beside or behind a semi on both for some distance and report back

    Great video man- I used to only have Street glides then I ran across a RG with a 120R in it and I got it. I personally feel like without the fairing moving with the forks the RG is much more maneuverable. My opinion. And if you look at the bagger race series now most of the HDs are RGs with a few SGs in there. Same with the Indians no idea what Indian calls their version of the RG don't care. :) Anyhow I have two RGs and a SG now without even thinking about it I go to my RG most days.

    I just traded up from SGS to RGS and I personally find the RG much better BOTH are sweet rides, however I did find the RG much lighter on the front end. Just my opinion. BOTH are real sweet rides. I am kissing the RG right now!
