The railway no longer runs empty slate wagons uphill and loaded gravity trains downhill. Today a gravity train consist is run on special occasions by pulling the train uphill by locomotive (with brakesman on board) and then running it downhill by gravity.

What do you mean? When the Ffestiniog run gravity trains it is from either Dduallt or Power station summit to Minffordd or Porthmadog.
hiesler (i dont know much about this railway) the gravity train that had to be picked up by a steam engine
