We could give you dozens of reasons not to hire a corp trustee. They asked repeatedly for 3 weeks before getting a terse and vague answer from the trust officer who claimed to have just paid the woman's health insurance. Their daughter found out a month later that her mom's health insurance had actually lapsed 2 weeks before that email from the trust officer. The couple fired the corp trustee. The corp trustee filed in probate court claiming "concern" for our relatives, even "diagnosing" them as incompetent. That trustee has devastated them emotionally, physically, and financially. THey've been dragged through probate court for 3 YEARS now by the corp trustee and have paid over $50k THUS FAR to attorneys, even though they have not yet had their first hearing, and are told they will also have to pay the BANK's attorney, the guardian atty appointed by the judge (who determined they WERE competent) and their own attorney, as well as a mediator attorney who has yet to be chosen. And to add insult to injury, they went without heat for a full week in freezing temps because they aren't allowed to hire repairmen or any services for the house unless or until the trustee approves it! It's madness.

Isn't a corporate successor trustee useful for a person who has no family? The corporate trustee will act like an executor when the person dies, and also manage his financial affairs if he is incapacitated.
