I’m 19 and I just discovered The Who. They may be an “old group” but I think they’re great🎸❤️
The Who was an alien in rock music. Because of destroying their instruments with rock operas. They have something special.
The Beatles went to experimental lengths, and try different tastes to their monacur.
The Rolling Stones went full blown blues and southern, and mixed with the psychedelic sound.
Many bands have such special skill, and their charisma on stage, but The Who flirted with danger, by destroying their devices, they did by expressing their physical limits and psychological identities. They have brought an underground sound to light, they have explored places were they will succeed, and tragedy will strike a mark on their musical chalice. But they will remain the heirchy of psychological manifestations, emotional situations that'll portray a higher purpose, and stories of people who acceded to a higher level of living. The Who are misfits who grow up to become such artistic innovators in rock music.
Hands down my favorite band ever
Washo Ramos why?
Washo Ramos you don't say
john entwistle, the best bassist ever
Yes
Agreed
Licks The Anteater cliff burton wants to know your location
Along with moon the loon..... Fucking amazing rhythm section... They lead half the time
Davie504: N A N I
One of the best bands and one of the most interesting as well! None of their albums sounded alike, They went from Garage Rock, to Pop, to Hard Rock in a few years and grew so much as a band.
Love the who, one of the all time bands. But for me when Keith died, so did the band. That man was a god, no one else like him.
Never the same after Keith for sure
Edward Montalbano sorry what? first of all, worldwide acclaim doesn’t make music objectively better. and you want diversity, creativity, originality? look at their live shows and rock operas. i’m sorry, i love the beatles but they never did anything like tommy or quadrophenia in terms of creativity.
i love their melody
Most dynamic live band ever!
The who are rocks most "interesting" band ,... very confusing ,..they were everything ; heavy metal, the blues, psychedelia , Mods, prog-rockers, sloppy, human, ,..the who lived dangerously ,..often attempting on stage things they could not do ,.. ill advised ,..BUT IT ALL HAD TO BE THAT WAY - FOR ROCK'S GREATEST BAND EVER !!
The Who is just a "WHO", that's the point, when a fan picks up an album, they don't know what their listening to, the who projects the meaning of skepticism and unknown categorisation, they teased the listeners psyche by experimenting with their sound, to different takes. From one album to another they have a gift if not just expressing themselves of doing anything or everything they can get their hands on. But to manipulate the listener with different styles. And for myself, I think that's what rock music should be about.
I saw the Who live too, it was amazing
I love The Who.
The best energy rock band
my favorite song by the who is substitute
The greatest band ever
I love the who but, The Beatles were way better
THE WHO 💣💥🤩👌👍👏👏👏 ce sont les meilleurs , je suis Français et grand fan 😚😚😚.
The only concert I ever regretted going to was the Who in the early 70's. Saw so many back then can't recall the year. Nothing about them was memorable except how tiny Roger Daltrey was. A miniature adult. Their STUDIO songs were great.
1:48 Shaggy, Is That You?
I just went to see The Who a few night's ago for my first time going to see them. hell of a show. after seeing The Who, umm..I can die now lol.
Those were my thoughts exactly when I saw them in March lol
I love The Who!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😬😬😬
Never been the same since Keith Moon died. We miss our dear boy, Moon the Loon!
I think if I was in a band with Keith Moon it would probably drive me crazy. He was non stop looney toons. I've seen interviews with people that knew him and it was all day, everyday. Alice Cooper said it wasn't so much sad that he died so young, it was how did he last so long?
maybe Pete Townsend isn't the best guitarist but his songwriting is deadly.
his guitar playing is perfect for the dynamic of the who (pre ‘78 obviously)
I don't think Pete gets enough credit for either songwriting or his guitar playing. The Stones had Jagger and Richards and the Beatles had Paul and John to pen the lyrics and music, it was really up to Pete (minus a few contributions from John) to come up with the songs for The Who. He would present complete demos of all the songs (he played every instrument and sang the lyrics) to the members of the band. The band did a great job interpreting and playing them, but the primary creative work was up to Pete. While he may not be the most technically skilled guitarist, he put the power chords in rock and nobody else sounds like him (kind of like Neil Young in that way).
His guitar playing is killer. Couple that with his insanity on stage and you get an act that’s hard to follow.
The Who had a rivalry with Led Zeppelin in the 70s but it ended when both bands lost their drummers and Led Zeppelin disbanded. But The Who returned after their tragedy until Pete Townsend called it a day in 1983. Though they reformed a few times since. Best we got from Led Zeppelin since disbanding was Page and Plant tours between 94 and 97 and a 1985 Live Aid reunion with Phil Collins on drums. Both bands have fiercely loyal fans. Sometimes a second band Pink Floyd is added into the mix as another band The Who rivaled. Pink never lost their drummer but Rogers Waters quit the band and for years toured seperately while Pink released a few more albums. But Pink has disbanded now and will not return. All three bands are from Great Britain and all three began in the mid to late 60s but had their biggest fame in the 70s into the 80s. Led Zeppelin ended in 1980. The Who first called it quits in 1983 and reformed a few times for small gigs and a album in 2006. Pink Floyd lasted despite losing Roger Waters till 1994 and since then have released material but are done touring. They did reform with Waters for Live 8 in 2005 as their last concert ever. All three incorporated themes that became important in the evolution of metal music though none was really a metal band. Another band of the era was AC/DC which lasted despite the first lead singer's death and still rolls on even after the other lead singer retired over health issues. All these four bands became big after The Beatles disbanded in 1970.
john died only a few weeks before i was born so sad
Rip Kieth and John
1964 was the start of so many British invasion bands.
History of black sabbath
Keith Moon Died September 7 1978 John Entwistle Died June 27 2002

+Jane Ralston Woah. How'd you get The Kids Are Alright? Both songs in the beginning are Happy Jack and I Can't Explain.
thank you alot, though it wouldve helped 2 years ago lol
They died after Keith but they were buried after John
I agree.
Is there any way I can see that performance? Stupid NBC cut away from the closing ceremonies to show the pilot for their latest (at that time) stupid, lame, failure of a new program.
The 'Orrible 'Oo?
Tommy vs Quadrophenia? What’s the better rock opera.
I honestly love both
MY FIRST ROCK BAND, GREAT MUSIC🎶🤍
The BEST rock band in the world.
Going on without Keith was understandable, but when John Entwistle died, they should have ended it. It was shameless that they went on just days after his death. Obviously it was about the money. We call them "The Two" now.
Chip Cayer
No disagree they should have quit when Keith died.
Yeah I mean led zeppelin quit after john died
My dad saw them live in 1989 at RFK Stadium in DC
My mother & I watched Tommy & Quadrophenia!
This documentary should be called "The Bubble Gum Wrapper History of the Who."
Fun fact: When Kenny Jones left the band, the Who's next drummer was Zak Starkey (The son of Ringo Starr)
@TheMedinaPeoples there is something about woodstock...
''4 Choir Boys Committing Mayhem.....'' The O'rrible O'oo !!
I’m the who fan from Australia
Complete oversight of the fact that Ringo Starr’s son - Zak Starkey is the drummer for the WHO the last few years
They all hated each other. They were known for fighting on stage many times, most notably Daltrey and Townshend. This tension, plus Keith Moon's hyperactivity and offbeat drum style, gave their music the energy and combustibility it needed to stand out.
Pete ended up with tinnitus because of a stunt of Keith's where explosives were put in a drum kit on US television.
The who?
Up the mods
Tommy was not the first rock opera. and a quick one/happy jack was subsequently released as one. but whose checking. im mean who's checking. i mean, you know who im saying. Who, does Mojo think they are? Who are they? i dont give a who 't who they are.
They should have had about 5 number 1 hits!! The public screwed The Who.
Who else is here for Entertainment Technology and Innovation? Check in 🥶
Greatest band to ever come out of Britain second to Oasis.
How can you put Oasis over The Who!!!! The Who actually inevated music
oasis don't belong in the same sentence
You put Oasis above the who, the kinks, stones, beatles? no way
Pfft! EVER hear of The BEATLES? OR the Rolling Stones?
I think oasis are on a par with the who....
Fuck, John died at 55 from coke overdose, i should take care.....I'm 60!!!
