Ken, thanks to your show and many others I took the leap. I had no "proper" papers in my resume to become an IT professional. I was told "No", many times until I had it. I decided to motivate myself to take some certification classes to advance my knowledge and on September 1, 2020 I started my own IT business. I am the only small business doing this in a 45 mile radius with deep need for it.
This year will mark 2 years in business (while I work my full time job) and I am hoping to make a small business transition by the end of this year.
If you love IT like I do, you will find a way and you will love doing it.
Cheers to everyone and thanks for the content!! Great stuff!
Sounds like he would be a good fit for data/business analytics...not software development. He said he liked creating dashboards and streamlining his work. That's what business analytics is all about...and data/business analytics and data science are two very different things with very little crossover.
I unexpectedly spoke to an expert in tech while I was a temp at a small business ... He is a veteran in programming interfaces, and in a nutshell, he said you have to build it more than you have to write an algorithm. Build &, test , rinse and repeat
This is my exact situation. WOW.
What Tyler described sounds like he might like being a Salesforce Administrator. It offers exactly what he described.
The advice given here sounded like it was given by people who never worked in the tech industry. The caller sounds like he would fit into business analytics or technical solutions consulting.
Tyler, check out Coursera for classes.
My thoughts exactly, once he said he liked dashboards, i thought : Yea he needs to get into analytics
Coursera?
can you please share the link to the full episode on this one?
Why do you want to get into tech? Answer: Because that's where people claim the money and jobs are.
Most kids dont feel passion about such a monotonous career. It's where the money is.
What is the company you partner with? I heard Beffletech? But there is no link in the notes and can’t find it in Google
Bethel Tech
Ahhh damn I'm not enjoying my supply chain management degree as much as I though, gee wow?
Bro this aint the place to be getting tech industry advice i dont think
Data Analyst would probably be the best. These guys should not be the ones giving you advice.
Random guy is random 😂 jk shoutout to random guy
This kid doesnt realize a huge percentage of people aren't doing what they have a degree in. Life happens - take the opportunity.
