I am a self-employed senior caregiver in private homes for almost 15 years. Now at age 66, I started Social Security, still need an income, and exploring my options. It was never my passion to be a caregiver even though I am good at it. I’ve still got a lot of living to do!

I know what I want to do. I’ve known it for a while and for some reason it clicked with this video. I’ve been watching Ken Coleman for well over a year. I’m a chronic job hopper who fixes airplanes. I like the thrill of looking for jobs, applying, and going through the “new job smell” process. Well, instead of doing it to myself, I’ve thought about being a career coach or recruiter. Live vicariously through those looking for work. As for my actual job, I’ve kinda enjoyed being in a role where I get to train or work with a new guy. So instruction as well. Time to get to work and make a career change.

My wife was saying the same thing during her nursing program, and it took a couple different nursing position to finally find the niche she loved. Thats the great thing about nursing is there is so much variety. Don't worry you'll find the right one
Man, I wish I had this advice before becoming a nurse. I've been a nurse for 12yrs and it's just ok but I don't feel it's my passion. I want to do more. All I know is I love helping people like Ken does. Lord help!
Yes isn't it crazy, if you are a "helper" type of personality, people automatically tell you to become a nurse or work in healthcare. But there's other types of help people need as well. Not only medical help.
I was a stay-at-home mom for most of my life...I'm now going on 53, and no college degree. I will look at all the info, but not sure if it is worth the time and money for me to pursue a degree at this stage in my life.
When I was 20, Emily, I was playing video games... NES and super NES.... I was camping... but I wasn’t really thinking of my future... I’m 50.. still doing the job, the track I set my race car on...but my car is an off-road rally car.... I’m stuck on the Daytona NASCAR track... You’re still young and are already realizing that you need to find a different track.... I’m just realizing that my years of discontent in the job world might come from being a creative artsy guy working in a warehouse and making deliveries...the wrong track... Now that we’ve found Ken, professor of Lighbulb Fixology, let’s make that next move...
I almost made a similar mistake going for cyber security…I thought I would enjoy the schooling but quickly realized I didn’t, it just sounded cool to get into
Nursing isn't taught well. The success rate for students in programs can average from a drop out/failure rate of 40% to 70%. That's crazy and wrong but it is common in the US. Few programs in other spheres would tolerate that but for some reason it's the norm with nursing programs and schools would rather blame students than fix the problem. As a result, alot of potentially great nurses are lost. The irony: those who succeed often blame the drop outs but look at a key stat: what is one of the top killers of Americans? Medical errors. Maybe schools should work harder at student retention and program reform because something is backwards. Go into other areas of healthcare where learning is not penalized. It's a shame because healthcare is so important and patients are short-thrifted with our bizarre system. Emily, it's nursing's loss that students like you drop out. You will find your way in another area and excel. Don't worry
